Musiks' first grow/ bagseed 2009

InhaledFreq, sound advice. No preflowers on these kids yet. Thanks for the info. I will definately put some roots in my next video.:grinjoint: I just wanna get the males out. I now realize that these plants need some space. I need either 2 more buckets or less plants. LOL

Pericodaking, as always a pleasure. Deep Water Culture, DWC, Hydro...whatever you call it, Im just glad I dont have to dig in the dirt!!!

Thanks guys for checking out my update. Everything is green Indeed!!!!

yea and you know how suspect it looks to always have to dump dirt after a grow or in my case having to haul that sh*t up a highrise in black garbage bags!! lol water is def the way to go, I've got a few in soil still only because I had it laying around from my first grow, as soon as its done it's hydro only for the kid!:cheer::popcorn::smokin:

Pericodaking, we used to (6 of us) carry Kegs of Beer up to the Presidential Suites at Hotels, usually at least 10 stories. One person goes and gets the room, then goes out to the "back door" opens it up while your buddies are out there with a keg. I always got the room with my credit card and at one point I was kicked out of every hotel/motel around the Mall of America. LOL We used to Party!!!! But yeah I know what you mean being sneaky to the top!
That was kegs of beer, dirt i would use the elevator unless there is none.

Thanks for dropping by Sisco. You might be able to tell I did alot of research before I got started. I of course was gonna do dirt at first. Then I read over and over again about bugs, bacteria, having to flush the plants. All that is virtually eliminated with Hydro. Only downside is the amount of water and so far keeping the PH within drinkable range for the plants.

If the plants can't consume the nutrients then they only intake the water, thus raising the ppm of the solution. Water also evaporates, thus raising the ppm of the solution. Adding PH Balanced water (tap or distilled) lowers the ppm of the solution. Too high of ppm and the plants intake too much nutes at once causing them burns. Too low of ppm and the plants dont take in as much and dont grow as fast.
Now I don't know much about E.C. (Electrical Conductivity) of the water, and how that affects the plants. But it is supposedly important in the long run. Right now I can't tell if its an issue without a meter. But rest assured I am working on it.

Well those are my thoughts. If anyone sees anything inconsistent or wrong with those thoughts let me know, I'm still researching.:ganjamon:

Seems like you have done you research. Im not sure why you worry when your plants look so nice. I would think you must be doing something right. I am really, really new to this water growing also so take what I say with a grain of salt for sure. It seems to me like you have enough room to continue what you are doing until you see signs from you plants if they are male or female. Once the pre flowers show you will know. If they are a month old you should see something in the next couple of weeks. Anyway great job and keep up the good work...

Thanks Sonzor.
You know I just don't know what to do. I read about all these techniques and ways to make bud more potent, or more bud in general. Then again I have never grown these plants in a normal cycle. So part of me wants to just let em grow another month. See I want at least two mother plants from my grow, then I want to clone the rest and flower them. AFter I find the males of course. But its like, I could find the males right now and condense my space, which is what I want to do. Then again maybe they are all gonna be female. What I know is that if I am going to keep these plants growing then I really do have to open up space in one bucket. 4 plants in one 10 gallon DWC isn't going to pan out, their is one plant that is smothering two smaller ones that aren't really growing as fast as the others. Which is fine for me but i just wanna make sure they are getting enough light to live. I know that my plants seemed to explode after I got the 5 gallon buckets setup DWC style.

Something I forgot, which I kinda think is a big deal, cause i am on a budget, i dont want to keep wasting nutrients i paid good money for on male plants. Although since I am going to be doing a perpetual harvest, the first time around is alright i guess. After this grow any more from plants i grow from seed i'll have a way better understanding.

Anyhow I'll be working on another video, i've had a request for movies of roots. Until then.....

I think you are safe to wait a couple of weeks to see what sex your plants are. Once mine showed there preflower there was no question to what sex they where. you really will have a pretty good idea of the sex and then you can remove any males (none I hope). Once that is done its all gravy from there. You can clone the females and you will have the mothers. I know the plants grow rather quickly but I still think you have time to give it a couple of weeks. I think that is a much better solution than to switch too 12/12 and then back. I know people do it but it just seem to be a unnecessary step that will put you back weeks if not a month or more. And what if they all turn out to be female. Then it really was a wast of time. Remember its just my option from what I have learned so far and I have a lot more to learn. So whatever you do its all a learning experience and I am sure the ladies (fingers crossed) will be just fine and you will have some big, fat sticky buds before you know it.. Good luck.

My building does have an elevator but it's not the most reliable, and I swear my landlord forged the inspection signatures but that's a whooole other issue, ur absolutely right with ur research by the way, good job doing your homework reps if i can, as far as your ec or electrical conductivity, the nutrients that we use, the ions have an electrical charge, pos or neg and an ec meter is used to measure that, it can be converted to ppm which is measure of TDS. Total dissolved solids are measured in parts per million in, these total dissolved solids have an electrical charge that is measured by an ec meter. so if u've got either one your fine bro! I use DNF hydro nutes and it has a chart with the ec and ppm range so i bought a ppm meter as it was cheaper than the ec where I was, but you don't need both. :ganjamon:

I agree with Sonzor, I did my sexin from the begining and you have already invested all this time in doing it the normal way, how much longer can those plants take the crowded space is a good question but its kinda too little too late for em so I'd keep my fingers crossed and just let them do there thing untill the big reveal day. Man, I almost sounded like I knew what I was talking about.

Weird though..... I'm like 2 weeks ahead of you I think but I have been showing preflowers on mine for a good while now.... I would say since they were little clones... The smaller clones that I have going now both have preflowers.... Maybe a difference in the strain???

My ladies have their legs wide open looking for some male bondage... Maybe my girls are just whores :smokin:

See thats the confusing part for me. I seen buds, or what I thought were buds, but leafs grew out of them. Some of them had Pistil like leaf tips and some didn't. So maybe thats the preflowers? And I just haven't connected the two? other than that I dont see anything close to a bud, besides the ones that produce leaves. which I am not even sure that they are called buds. LOL
Anyhow I got some pics without the light on, I had been meaning to for a while now. Here goes. I dont know if its normal but the leaves on the plants droop when the lights are out and stand back up when the lights are on.

Oh you want a movie too!!!

I got the best I could with the light out. At least they look GREEN!!!!

YouTube - Science Project part 2
At the end I had to turn off the camera so I could get the other leaves out of the way to put the lid down LOL I was gonna show the rest but we'll leave that for another day!!!!

Great Vid Musik!!! I was looking at the one picture of the sativa dominant looking plant and those look like female preflowers..... At least thats what I think lol :grinjoint:

Weird how your light's reflective surface has all those dimples I'm sure its fine but its on the contrary to what I have read..... no creases right??? Wouldn't that create hot spots????.......... Probably some logical scientific explanation!

They all look so Indica dominant except for that One Nazi plant..... U should name her(hopefully) Mrs. Hitler! ha ha

Ok so I wanted to put some up of my new bubblestones for the gallon buckets. I wanted to check out the bubble discs, as I heard they make smaller bubbles aerating the water better. Who knows. Wal-Mart didn't have them so I got the smaller ones like i'd seen Pericodaking's grow in his Hydrobucket.

Check out the Salty Bubblestones!!!! Is that normal or is that a high ppm of salts. Is this the nutes solidified?

Okay I couldn't resist. The light turned on while I was finishing the other stuff. Its past 7am, still gotta make it Menards, need a nap first....

Again, camera in hand, showed other roots, noticed bubbler has tons of "yellow" salt on it. HMMM Roots have "yellowed", I think that there is a higher percentage of salts in the buckets than in the reservoirs. Only difference is distilled vs tap water. I hope thats ok!!

Chameleon, thanks for stopping in. As far as I know the material is refered to as Poly Film, or Panda Film. The white side is supposedly 90% reflective, so far no hot spots, yeah the film could have been put up better, I did it alone what can I say! but as far as I read aluminum foil and Mylar create hot spots when crinkled. The Poly Film was cheaper than buying primer, paint, brushes etc etc.
Yeah I haven't seen what i believe to be preflowers, I am looking at the plant now and can't tell worth a darn LOL. And I wish this camera did a better job at close-ups. Sometimes you take a picture and its fine then right after when you are trying to take the next one it can't focus on anything. LOL Dumb digital cameras!!!
I was hoping that wasn't a male for growing so fast. I mean he grew fast!!! LOL. I know once I space them out the rest will grow faster. As a matter of fact, where I have the 4 plants, 2 of them were stunted for sure, 1 had roots cut off by some floating hydroton, and the other I didn't place the rockwool cube close enough at bottom so it wasn't getting good nute solution. Of those two for sure one of them is Sativa, it was hard to tell because it was stunted and stayed short, now that the others are starting to fill out its much easier to distinguish.
Thanks for stopping by and for the comments and dont forget to catch the next vid. So far 3 of them and counting.

^I do love those vids, Can we get some different angles maybe, lilke a zoom in and out, panoramic idk just appreciating the cinematography lol

LOL I wish I had 360 degrees around the grow so I could look at it from every angle myself!!! I love the fact that I can take pictures and keep track of my grow visually. But hate the fact I can't get close-ups.

Thanks for stopping by Yo!!! I'll try to work something, although at least next time there will be something different!!!! NEW BUCKETS!!!!

Nice vids! Thanks for posting them! The roots look great! The plants are looking amazing! I really can't wait to try this method myself, I have the bubble stone and a 5 gal bucket ready and waiting. ;)

Btw, yes it is normal for the plant's leaves to droop at night. The leaves reach up to absorb the light when it's on, and droop at night when there is no light to absorb. If you watch a time-laps of a cannabis plant growing on youtube, it looks like the plants are breathing. :smokin:
