MrRobert420's LP Aeroponics - DWC - LED - SCROG - 2 Hindu Skunk

soooooooo today I am ordering two TopLED Mars II 1600w LEDs - sooooooo excited lol

my current wattage is 275 or something

This will give me 780w draw - thats insane and i WANT IT! lol

Heats not an issue! My 600 raises temps 5 degrees warmer than room temp with the cooltube. if my room is 75 the grow room is 80. My 600 watt runs 10 degrees cooler than my CFL's did... The cool tube is AWESOME. And if you are getting 1600 watt LEDs i KNOW they will run hotter than a HPS with a cool tube. Just a thought.

My last successful grow, I modded a 400w hps as my hood was too big for my tiny cabinet, so I made my own hood. A PC fan kept it cool and my tiny cabinet only topped out at 85º and I harvested just under a half pound in 15"x30". My point is HunterNitro is so right on this one!

Oh yes grow tents in the house...... i would be ALLLLLL over a cool tube and HPS...... my garage gets over 95 degrees so my mini split AC really maxes out keeping the heat at 80 with my current LEDs - I would be pulling 95 degree air to cool the lights........... Still effective?

My room is 100% sealed at the moment. with C02 supplement.

i may try it both ways............ Seems to be the debate of century.......... I in no way do not believe you guys! May just order one of each and try it............

I just know i need more light - these lights that come with the closet are quality - just not powerful enough - DAMN........... now i dont know what to do again hahahahaha thanks guys!! lol lmfao

yea i feel ya - i feel ya - hmmmmmmmmm. back to the dang drawing board lol..............

:cheesygrinsmiley: sorry MrRobert!!! Just thought i would throw that out there!!! You have to think also though... If you are going to get 1600 for the same setup you have you will still have to do something different. If you are already having high temps you are going to triple or more with a 1600 watt LED vs the 200-300 watt u have. Also another thing to throw on the board is like you said pulling the garage air through the cooltube and exhaust out the other end so the hot garage air is never in the tent just passing through and your AC can keep the cab cool. I dont know how efficient pulling hot air through the cool tube is though. You possibly could see short life bulbs or something... Sorry i dont have input on that. I love new technology and i may have to try a LED in the future! Im like you i love trying different things and i love comparing myself. The HPS was the best decision i have made on growing so far light wise... =) Im actually thinking of purchasing a 1000 watt HPS for my new flower room !!! Good luck! Cant wait which ever you get to see the upcoming grows! :high-five: :Namaste:

yea bro no worries - that is kinda the reason i posted it before ordering to get thoughts - You make me think twice which I love - Still not sure what to do - maybe i will go home, smoke a bowl and stand in front of cabinet and just think lol....................

i had to deal with high temps this summer with my hps . it stayed mid 90s sometimes jumping into the low 100's with the ac blowing strong . i had no issues except they would dry out faster .

As you suspected, you can do a straight shot of air in one side of the garage, through the tube, then out the other side without that air touching the grow. Granted it began as warm air, once it moves, it cools some and more if it's tornado strength. Only having journals base my POV off, LEDs are great for the wattage they consume, and do hit broader spectrums and possibly have a better PAR value, but when stacked to an HPS of comparable size, the HPS does (from most of what I've seen) produce much more yield of denser thicker grenades vs popcorn to the top.

So as Nitro also said, get 1600 watts of LED, or 600 watts of HPS to effect the same yield. BTW, CO2 enrichment assists in dealing with heat stress from higher temps, if you use silica you're +2 in that area, so the warmer temps will be much less of a factor.

Ok I think I have decided to try and ventilate my box and add a cool tube...... you guys talked me into it lol

I am going to go to the hydro store tomorrow after work and try and perform this upgrade this weekend.

Question: do you think 600 watt is over kill for the cabinet?

I am actually excited about this. lol - I think its worth a shot - this 240w or 270w LED (cant remember the specs exactly) is not cutting it.

Fingers crossed lol

you guys all rock! Thank you so much - Will post an update on this as soon as its complete :)

this is what did it for me -

My LED will raise temps 10-12 degrees with the sealed room

When you told me that - im changing - did not realize how much heat that pulled out - Not to mention the obvious grenades HPS does produce. - Sphnx im sure will come and agree also lol......... He raves HPS everywhere - not debatable subject for him either.

And he won nug of the month

Don't think I can talk myself into this anymore.

600w cooltube here we come! - unless you guys thinks its overkill-......400w ? lol

Have a great night everyone!

Lol! I love it! I dont think you will be disappointed. As far as the 400 vs the 600 thats going to be on YOU! I really love my 600 for my 4x2 space. 600 watt will for sure produce you more weight! You grow space is a little tighter than mine but I dont see an issue with the 600 watt. With your AC keeping the cab cool and the cooltube pulling the hot air from the bulb should maintain your cab perfect!
P.S. I use a 440 CFM inline fan with 6 inch ducting. I would suggest the same as the cool tubes come in 6inch and 8inch. You can run reducers but would not suggest it as you get better airflow with the straight 6 inch.

I vent my ducting in a bedroom and it has been keeping my house at 75 degrees when its 40 outside(like tonight) without heat on. The dehumidifier helps also!

Also there are many options for the reflectors. I use the add on wing reflector which is small and just clips on the top. You can bend it any way you want for coverage area. The XL wing seems to be huge and can cover a 5x5 or so.... My wing states coverage is 4x4 but i have the wings bent inward to try and maximize light coverage for my 4x2 area. You can check out the different options and see what you have room for and what you want to get.

Good luck! If you have any question feel free to ask! I will answer what i can. Cant wait to see this upgrade!!!!!!!!

Of course I agree lol 600w would be perfect if its in the cool tube. You'd get those hand grenades :)
That nug I won NOTM with, was grown under a 600w light. Yes it was in a room with 10 600w lights but that top was directly under the bulb. It is very possible to pull 4 or 5 ounces per plant under a 600w if you know what you're doing. :lot-o-toke:

Thanks for the love man :)

4-5 oz per plant I think has to be a SOG figure, right? I'm aiming for 16 oz per plant under 600 watts, but I top the crap out of them and veg quite a bit longer than most. I wish The Capn and S1ingblade were still on this site as they were harvesting pound after pound after pound regardless of what strain they grew. I guess the space we each have to work with is another major factor.

Unless your sole intent in buying a new cool tube from your local hydro store is to support local business, I suggest shopping for it online as you'll save about 50%. Then again I'm a frugal mofo when it comes to canna shopping and all of my equipment is the cheap knockoff brand.

I forgot that you grow in a supercloset. How does the ventilation system in those work? Will you need to modify it by cutting 2 opposing 6" holes in the outer skin to port ducting through? However you land on this issue, you should make sure that the air can flow quickly over the bulb with very minimal restrictions or sharp turns. If air flow is very limited, you might opt for a 400 instead of a 600. Personal experience has shown me that the 400 isn't that difficult to cool so long as the ballast is mounted outside the grow space (they get rather warm on their own). I can't imagine that a 600 would be that much more difficult to cool, but in such a small space as a supercloset, the heat could get out of control quickly if proper ventilation is not in play.

It depends on training for sure. That 4-5 is an un-topped number... I'm about to flower my Blue Cheese mother. She's going to be getting a whole light if not more :) That should be over a pound for sure lol Shes massive

The cool tubes run very "cool". a 600w would be an insane amount of lumens for a closet and wouldn't be too bad on heat as long as your pulling air through the tube.. Go big or go home right? I once had a 1000w light in a 3x4 closet. Would get a pound each harvest :)
