MrBubbles Perpetual Grow

REad the last two pages....

Per your invitation, here's some observations:

1. There's no reason to add epsom salt all the time. Doing so will ruin nitrogen fixation, and a bunch of other things.
2. It looks like might be generally overwatering.
3. My washing technique goes like this:

3 buckets filled with RO.
Bucket number one put 1/2 cup lemon juice, 3/4 to 1 cup baking soda. Stir.

Rip off fan leaves and necrotic tissue, really large sugar leaves can be removed but stuff with trichomes on it will do better staying on the bud.

Immerse and agitate buds for 30 seconds in each bucket, 1, 2, 3 in sequence. Hang and dry.
Final manicure fully dried buds. The trim from this step rolls fantastic joints and will produce excellent hash if that is your goal.

Thanks so much doc! Any opinion on my hermies and hermie seeds?

The seeds have a higher then normal chance to be hermie however my understanding is that they will be feminsed regardless. So u have gold with your seeds but they have a better then normal chance to be hermie.

Well, I just culled two plants for looking at me wrong, so I'm not the guy to ask!

I would not allow a plant to hermie in my garden. If it did, I'd cull it immediately, and avoid growing it in the future. There are too many strains that are awesome to waste time growing a finicky strain that isn't really that great.

Of course, what is a "great" strain? Well, it's whatever strain you think is great! And if you love the stuff that is hermie.....go right ahead and grow it. Nothing wrong with it....why not?

I just look at things different. I figure the electric bill is gonna be the same, no matter what I"m growing, so might as well grow the best I can possibly grow.

I completely agree with you. My only conflict is these are not a finicky strain. There is nothing wrong with the genetics of these plants. They hermied as a result of the stress I put them through.

Are you saying that a stable strain would not hermie under any type of stress conditions? Because my understanding is stress causes the plants survival instincts thus causing it to self pollinate. So every plant has the ability to hermie under the right conditions. Some are just more likely then others. Furthermore, what about bagseed? I've grown many bagseed plants that were 100% female. It's even been documented where an entire plant will have 2 beans. This is supposed to be a result of self pollination.

Sorry not trying to argue with you. Theres just a lot of conflicting information out there thats confusing. This is basically going to be a free auto seed experiment for me. I already have 4 other photos that are about a month oId that will be in a separate tent with separate ventilation. I sincerely appreciate your advice and feedback.

I think "every" strain can hermie, but not all do unless pushed really hard, IE inverted day/nite temps, light leaks, temps out of range, physical stress of LST, supercropping, etc.

Regarding seeds....I am personally against feminized seeds. It's not natural, even if it is practical and easy.

My personal opinion is that you always want plants to be as healthy as possible, ESPECIALLY when producing seeds. That's just my opinion.....obviously I'm in the minority....just look at all the fem seeds being sold!

Again....just my opinion!

I have nothing but respect for ANYONE who grows our beloved plant, no matter the method. Cannabis is like music...different genres for different folks at different times. As long as you're learning and are satisfied with your progress, you're doing great.

Thanks Doc I appreciate the positive vibes! I can't wait to see how my photos turn out. Now that I've got a little more experience I feel much more confident.

I agree with your theory on chemically induced fems. That's exactly why I thought this would interest you because this is basically an organic method of producing feminized seeds in nature. One plant hermies due to environmental stress ie. early winter. It then pollinates itself and drops seeds before it dies. It can also pollinate surrounding female plants and produce feminized seeds that way as well. You can still have some hermies from those seeds but you can just cull those out and keep the females. Or at least this is what I've been finding online.

Update Day 71

My Critical Jack is still hang drying and will be for at least 3 to 5 more days. She smells amazing! Due to the recent hermie issue I've decided to harvest my Berry Ryder 3 and Berry Ryder 1. They both have very little seeds so I want to get them now before they develop more. I've placed them in the dry box still in their pots to sit in the dark for 2 days. I will chop them tomorrow and post pics.

Here's pics of them in my dry box:

My Mazar has quite a few seeds. Probably more than any other plant. She still has some amazing buds growing on her though and she smells amazing. I'm going to keep her going til she's fully fattened.

My blue cheese doesn't have too many seeds on her. She smells the best of all of my plants. Her buds still need to dense up quite a bit more. I'm guessing about another week for her.

And finally my Berry Ryder 2 only has a few seeds and she looks amazing. The buds are getting super fat but only 20% red hairs so she has at least 1 to 2 weeks left.

Here's a group pic of the tent now:

I think the prolonged darkness is scaring them...... they know what is coming next........ :hippy: (I was looking for a harvesting icon but I couldnt find one)

Girls are looking very nice mrbub.. I harvested yesterday and noticed the beginning of a few bannanas on my GSC! No worries though.
All these girls will smoke great, any describing smells for that Mazar? I am very interested in those genetics :)

Thanks for the kind words CA! It's not a perfect harvest but not bad for my first grow.

I just smelled the Mazar and I would call it mango/skunk lol. Not sure if that quite says it though. Here's a few pics of the Mazar:

Photo Update

First of all you can obviously see these plants are tiny for their age. I neglected them. Failed to give nutes and over watered. They looked pretty sad until about a week ago when I transplanted them. Now they have exploded in growth. I expect to have them flowering in my tent in about 3 weeks. Don't worry I'll be scrubbing my tent down thoroughly beforehand lol.

I can live with that considering I spent $80 on these and they hermied lol

Harvest #2

I decided to chop my Berry Ryder 1 and 3. They had been sitting in my dry box in the dark for 24 hours.

Originally I was going to let them sit for 48 hours but the humidity was getting up to 70% and I didn't want to risk mold.

My Berry Ryder 1 weighed 117 grams wet with 41 grams of trim.

My Berry Ryder 3 weighed 130 grams wet with 36 grams of trim.

I plan to freeze the trim and make a small batch of bubble hash tomorrow night. My Dube vape pen just came today and I'm anxious to see if I can make fell melt ice wax for it.

Both plants smell like berry diesel. They are both seeded unfortunately but it's all for personal use and the bud still seems great.
