Mother of Berries, M.O.B. Maine Strain

I'm willing to bet the plant in the middle (the only big one) is sativa. I know my pics have been pretty vanilla lately so be trying to mix it up. Considering linking YouTube videos on here in to delve deeper into these plants and we can all enjoy the journey of the mystery strains together.

From what I see in the pics Monkey your plants all seem pretty indica dom. They all have fairly wide leaves and pretty tight internodes. Sativas will usually have skinny leaves and longer internodes that what I am seeing in those pics.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong I prefer to be called out on my incorrect information. I just figured that was the case because it's so much taller and hasn't gotten any different treatment and wasn't even in the middle before it was in the back near the corner.

It could just be a more vigorous strain, or more vigorous pheno of the same strain if they are the same. It could also be a male. Usually when you have unsexed seeds of the same strain the ones that show the most vigor are the males. They all look good and hopefully the big one is just a fast moving female. :thumb:

I appreciate the input I really do.im smart enough to know I don't know everything. I'm really hoping it's a female but as wont know until we flip. Is there anything I can do to nudge the plant into being a female?

Man if I could remember the write up I read about that last week I would point you towards it. From what I have seen the most crucial time for a seed to determine sex is the first couple of weeks. I know environmental factors come into play. One thing that is supposed to promote more ladies is lights with more blue in them. Temps and humidity play a part as well as the fertilizers used. One favors more N the other less. I think Dutch Passion did a write up and you may be able to search for it with a term like "how to promote more female cannabis plants from seed". Also you can determine sex before you flip if you veg long enough. I think around 60-80 days after germination most plants will show sex via pre-flowers. Females will have pistils in the crotch of the nodes where as males will have balls. Typically a male will show pre-flowers first since they need to mature in time to pollinate the girls in time to produce viable seeds.

That's really good to know I'm going to have to check that info out and learn everything I can. I appreciate your taking the time to give me info and point me in the right direction .

You are welcome man and it is no problem. I am pretty sure the info is written in Radogast's latest journal and Doc Bud mentions some of the environmental factors in the Q&A thread I believe.

Wait...I thought each seed had a predetermined sex like this is a male seed this is a female seed etc.

From what I have read it may not be as concrete as we think. I guess some will always be male and some will always be female but then there are tose that have yet to choose or could go either way. I should ask graytail what the article is called or goggle it myself i guess.

I came across part of the write up while reading through another journal here is part of what Dutch Passion wrote:

""Feminised Cannabis Seeds"
Courtesy of Dutch Passion

In November 1998 we introduced our "Female Cannabis Seed". We did this after our own experiments showed that from female cannabis seed, we acquired almost 100% female off-spring.

In the meantime we are six months further on. We have received a lot of feed-back from our customers. The reactions are mostly positive! Clients have successfully produced almost 100% female off-spring. However there have been reactions from customers who found a few hermaphrodites or males plants.

Apparently environmental influences affect the sex of the female cannabis seeds as well. Because of the fact that Female marijuana seeds do not grow into female marijuana plants under all circumstances. Thus we changed the name from "Female Cannabis Seeds" into "Feminised Cannabis Seeds".

From literature and from our own findings it appears that the growth of a male or a female cannabis plant from marijunaa seed, except for the predisposition in the gender chromosomes, also depends on various environmental factors. Not only the origination of entirely male or female marijuana plants is partly affected by these environmental factors, the number of male and female cannabis flowers on a hermaphrodite plant is affected as well."

Great post Yeti! Thanks for all of your input and research. Here are some updates.

I'm considering switching to flowering on September 7th as an easy date to remember as it's the start of Football season and can quickly remember that info to plan flowering, etc I may go longer then that as these are my last free seeds and want to get as much bang for my buck as possible so could let these go into October or later. Anyway, all is well with the plants thus far.

This particular plan had the top stem entirely removed as part of an experiment. The base of the other stems is almost covering the grow point where the main stem was coming out

You are welcome Monkey. Funny enough I was not looking for it when I came across it I was just reading through and it was in there! I had to copy paste it here since we had just been talking about it! The gals (hopefully gals anyways) are looking good. You may over grow your space if you wait until Oct to flip. Early September sounds like a good time if they keep the pace they are moving :thumb:

Great advice Yeti. You really think I'd outgrow my area even if removed shelves? Although, I suppose my light will only do so much. These plants are moving right along which both excite and concern me. I worry I won't catch a male in time and my whole room will
Get screwed up. I've read all of
The obvious info on identifying males, etc. is there any advice on the fastest way to identify them as soon as possible before sacs are developed and so on?

I dont think Height will be an issue as much as them getting bushy and being over crowded that way. You should really veg until you see pre-flowers to get rid of males before flip. The best advice I can say is watch for balls or sacks. They should show up 2 and a half to 3 months into veg. They also usually show early than girls so typically a later shower is more likely a lady. I only recently started growing regular seeds so i am still perfecting my methods of identifying sex.

Great information Yeti.

I took a picture of my tallest plants inner workings and wanted to get
Opinions on whether this was indicative of being female. Pistils are evident and suggest it could be but wanted thoughts.

The third pic down does look like it is showing female pre-flowers. That is a good sign. Watch other nodes to make sure you do not see any sacks just to be sure it isnt a hermie, but so far it looks like you may have a lady

Thanks for the input! I'll check the other plants to see what's going on w/ them and post pics for community input.
