Mother of Berries, M.O.B. Maine Strain

I bought a 6 bulb 4 ft t5 off of the zon. I paid like 80 or 90 bucks for it. Well in less than a year every ballast on it burned out. I bought a 4 bulb 4 ft t5 from the local grow shop for about what you paid and so far it has been more reliable. I do not see my local shops getting rich on what they sell. They seem to be decent people. I am sure there are a lot of shops that take advantage knowing what it is people are growing. The shop I go to when I buy anything locally charges about $26 for a bundle of promix. If you get that off the zon it is between 50 and 60. I agree some things are big money but it is mostly the brands they carry.

I won't argue with that. It's a classic case of you get what you pay for. I bought the bloomspect LED as it had really good reviews and Doggie Daddy uses that same exact model. The T5 I bought from my local store is a "sunblaster" from sun blaze systems. It seems decent enough. Really resilient light also. I'm going to have to start thinking about my grow strategy as I will probably get these plants nice and big. Use up my existing Nutes and then start thinking about my next grow of Emperor cookie dough and will likely experiment with the 7 I have (nothing extreme) to see what's best and then integrate into that grow but before any of that happens I should study the strain thoroughly and load up on anything that is needed. (May also practice with the colloidal silver on one of these plants as a means to use on an ECD, if I buy more then one).

A different angle to see light projection more efficiently.

Dear Friends,

I have planted my last 2 seeds. Getting rid of existing seed stock so I can pursue the plant I really want after these are done. I lowered LED by about 3 inches to create a stronger blast of light. With this many plants, I'm wondering if I should continue to use the LED or go stealthy and use my power to better circulate the air and keep door closed, etc. Maine law allows up to 6 plants but allows a defense to be raised in certain situations and I believe very strongly that I meet those definitions (I have some legal experience). If my plants are seized I can file with officer that could take plants for their return and dismiss case based on allowed defense, on the other hand, if for some reason I lose any situation I could lose my license and so on. Note: In Maine, MJ is legal recreationally and medically. I can raise the defense under the medicinal side along with a few other things. Honesty is what I need guys.

Had to do some rearrangements as some of these (hopefully) ladies were exhibiting signs of heat stress. Turned the fan to 2 and moved plants w/ stress further from T5. Pics below

It appears as though the underbelly of my canopy is outgrowing the rest of the plant. It's actually growing past the leaves. Could rich spectrum be the cause?

I had to turn the T5 off and make some rearrangements. Two rows were suffering heat stress. Will post a pic later today.

Quick MOB update (and more):

She's been curing and decided to try some. I took her early but she's pretty decent and burns the way she should. Fruity, delicious and pretty smooth. Thickens room with smoke by end of (glass) blunt. In hindsight I admit she should have gone longer however my patience is really what got me and I wanted to recycle the soil and work on new batch. Other then allowing a longer grow I really didnt and don't have any regrets about how I did MOB.

What I have learned from my experience however is that I can improve my existing setup. I did research on plant growth as a whole and not just MJ.

I added Top soil to my grow that is supposed to hold moisture for longer and provides added enrichment of nutrients. By holding (but not trapping!) additional moisture it creates a longer feeding period. With an aerated pot like large a smart pot or a plastic pot with lots of holes (see: irrigation pot). A fan providing ample air circulation should in theory work identical to hydroponics. I believe it was TheGreenYeti who said the pots looked much bigger almost overnight about a week or so behind this post) this was actually just a few days (3-4) after the top soil was added. I do not believe this was in anyway a coincidence with a stretch period, etc. as while I do not know what each strain is I do know that none of them are the strain (collected from vastly different people).

You will notice in the above picture they are continuing to grow and pretty rapidly. You will also notice that in my previous grow I was told I had an impressive yield for CFL. It's no accident. Remember, early on I provided links to study's and organizations supporting that music is scientifically proven to grow bigger plants? The secret isn't just music and my smart pots aren't just for aeration. Think about it. Take an empty smart pot and put over a loud speaker with your hand, you will fee the VIBRATION. Whether you like certain music is irrelevant play it because it's the vibrations from the sounds you need for the plant so, hit pandora and let it go. I play an eclectic array of music so that it gets the most root stimulation possible. Plastic pots either heavily reduce or eliminate any possibility of root stimulation. That's why MOB grew the way it did. In the pic above I have a leading lady with speakers in front of her and the vibration transmits all through that constricted space. I now firmly believe that root stimulation is as important as light, soil, Nutes and water. I believe my work thus far supports that argument. Would love to hear community opinions.

PS - I'm hoping none of them are dudes but the odds are against me. However, if they all turn out female I will have mastered the ultimate low stress environment (minus recent heat stress which has caused me to defer my flip until we can create a time gap from the incident and are permanently de-stressed

PPS - white powder on floor is intentional, it's Diatomaceous earth . I somehow found a large black and yellow garden spider (wtf?!) in the grow room and suspect either soil lice or something more sinister either way they should be toast with this crap.

You've all heard of weed be gone. I give you Police be gone. Weed is illegal but extremely difficult to get prosecuted for (if your lucky enough to be in a legalized state).

The white specs on the plants in the back and now over all the plants are dusted with Diatomaceous earth. I realized those plants were having fewer or no issues with them so tried with
The others, seems to be working so far also letting soil dry a bit later to help (as moist environments can promote spawning).

I'm glad I'm having these experiences with unknown strains because it allows me to have blind and unbiased review and pay more attention to the general response to my treatments. All my seeds have been free thus far. You'll notice obvious pest damage on some leaves but 0 Nute burn unlike my previous 3 plants. I do think I prefer the top soil on my FF soil and will likely use it in future grows. We haven't obviously see it function in the flowering stage but I'm definitely optimistic.

Thorough soil check in each plant. No need to water, pests seem pretty much gone. Not ready to officially declare that until soil is dry to about 2 Inches down and their environment is no longer sustainable (as an extra precaution).

Feeding this morning. Pests look done for good. Will see if they should re-appear after moisture having been added. If they are clear I'll remove the powder from the plant leaves. Plants in the solo cups feel as if they are taking forever may move to a window today or even leave for a few days (have not yet decided).

I have to start doing some major planning for flowering as I consider the flowering process to be exhausting. 645am on and 645pm off. I check plants daily multiple times a day for pests, deficiencies and just about anything else you can think of. These are the last of my seeds so going to
Make sure I can get the most out of these guys. I'll do my best to create a rough draft for everything flowering and go from there. (Also have to consider a few of these are probably gonna be dudes).
