Morglie's Perpetual: New Space & New Strains

What do you think of Carnival, Neiko? If you have a limey one, it's probably that speedy pheno. Is it as different for you as it is for some of us?

A lime Bangi sounds pretty appealing too, Morglie - can't wait to hear what you think of it. :thumb:

Thank you. I enjoy harvest day and lately I've had one a week.
I love those limey ones. My Carnival is very limey. I'm thinking I will cob most of it.
My carnival has a lime scent as well. It's different than the Bangi Haze. The Bangi Haze has this creaminess to it. I've had lemon ones before, but never a lime. This will be my first.

I can't wait to try it. I'll have a sample bud in a day or two. It smelt wonderful. I'm kicking myself for not taking a clone. This flavor mixed with purple Malawi will be amazing.

Speaking of amazing, I'm testing out my other pheno of strange brew tonight. I'm thinking this is a keeper. It has me flying high....

My Apollo 13 male that's in the Love shack waiting for a few girls to start flowering, so he can knock them up and make me some lovely seeds.

He'll be pollinating both phenos of strange brew and purple Malawi.

Is it me or are males easier to grow?

o_O
I've found it easier in flower, but I don't take them anywhere near finishing. Normally it's a matter of maintaining a balance between GE & TP and it's just getting started at that point when I end up cutting them. Maybe 2-3 weeks into flower.

Very nice male, I approve! You're taking the right way IMO by experimenting with different genetic combinations.

I have never run a male into flower. It would be fun to grow a bunch of males just to see their qualities like smell and resin formation.
I haven't taken any more than a couple of weeks into pollen release. It's cool too see how they develope. There are similarities and differences in the way they develope.
What is:

???
Thanks Neiko for answering this. The kit takes out a lot of the guess work and can be forgiving. I don't have to focus that much on males since I cut them so early in flower. I could give them just water once I start flowering if I wanted to. There's enough energy in the soil at that point to carry them that long.

Thank you. I'm wanting to focus on my purple Malawi, and figured that I'd see how these different strains all affected it. The UD cross I'm testing now, all seem to have the same structure as the male. I think I might have a male. If I do, I'm going to make F2s and see what I get in that generation.

You have very small population, so it's impossible to say really. If you have more seeds pop them to see if this genotype is dominating. Might be, but UD is unstable strain, so you'll rather see three way split... at least.

I'm planning on popping a larger group later. These three, as long as they're female, are bound for my outdoor plot. I was able to finish my purple outside last year and UD is faster, so anything I get should be able to finish outdoors here. Plus, I really want to check them out. All three have purple stems just like the mother. I'm hoping for purple buds. :slide:

You should expect them in some plants if mother passed the trait to F1.

I have 1 confirmed male and 1 female UD. The male is shorter than the female which kinda surprised me. Conrad thinks they are both the Chem/Diesel pheno. I could always clone that male for ya. I'll post a pic later of him I gotta run out for a bit now.

It works like that with UD. Males and females are very similar in veg to the point, that it's really hard to say what you're growing.

I'm good. I've had a couple males already. I want to get a few females and try out UD without it crossed with anything. I have more seeds to pop. I'm just maxed out on space. Once my veggies go in the garden I'll get my upper shelf back and have room to start pheno hunting.

How do you learn something like this?

I have half a mind to start a UD breeding thread because I hope to grow ~10 or more this summer.
Despite my attempts to sabotage my learning in highschool, some of the genetics information stuck. Google Mendel genetics and you'll have a good starting point.
