MK-Ultra Hempy - C02 - 1000 Watts

Re: MK-Ultra Hempy, C02, 1000watts.

Day 38 of flower:
Buds, Buds, Buds. Growing, fattening, filling in.
At the same time, I have some nasty looking leaves on two plants. The large fan leaves are starting to look crappy. I have about 3-4 weeks till harvest.

First, the Casey Jones. No problems at all here, and they're filling in nicely!

Next, a shot of all the cola's on the MK Ultra's
Please comment on the condition of the leaves. I want these plants to finish strong.

Re: MK-Ultra Hempy, C02, 1000watts.

That leaf looks like you are having some sort of issue. Nuts or heat I would guess but does not seem to be affecting those beautiful buds... I am sure someone with a lot more experience than I will chime in and tell you exactly the issue. Keep up the good work... Great job...

im lovin the pistil action :nomo: comin along very nicely Doc :slide:

Re: MK-Ultra Hempy, C02, 1000watts.

Looks like nuke burn....and judging from the size of your plants....there is some nuclear plant close to your home cause they are growing 4 times the speed of light OMG...you got some big old plants growing.....maybe me looking at mine then comming here makes them look so big :bravo:

Yes, the buds are definitely growing...but they need healthy leaves too.

Thanks bro.

Yes, these plants have grown fast.....thanks Hempy!
I've been feeding light for a few cycles....so I'm having a hard time thinking it's nute burn....but you could be right. I haven't gotten any info as to whether this strain is nute sensitive, but it's G-13 and OG Kush.

Do you know if either of those are sensitive?

Re: MK-Ultra Hempy, C02, 1000watts.

Is it mostly the upper leaves looking like that?

If that's the case, I would suspect heat stress/burn.

It's the large fan leaves, midway in the cola and some of the lower ones. The very tops of the plants look fine.

I did have a bit of heat/light burn on the Casey Jones....looked nothing like this.

Slimm:

I also thought K deficiency. I'm going to let them dry out overnight and give them a good soak in the AM with about 900ppm of the following:

CalMag
Hygrozyme
Hammerhead 0-8-14 I think....
1tsp FF Grow.

I figure keeping the PPM low and the K the main thing, we'll be able to steer them in for a soft landing.

I've another 10 days of feeding, then I start the flushing...about 10 days worth.

Thanks for your input, everyone!

Re: MK-Ultra Hempy, C02, 1000watts.

If it's not heat stress, I would also go with K deficiency.

they should get better.

that's the plan then!
They're gonna make it to harvest, no doubt about it.

Interestingly, the two plants with the trouble are the two that had the root rot when they were wee little girls.

I wonder how many cases of "lockout" and such are nothing more than damaged roots from mishandling when the plants were young?

Re: MK-Ultra Hempy, C02, 1000watts.

When I switch to Hempys, I'm going to plant the seeds directly in the bucket just like I do in soil.

I like that idea SS, but they might take a lot of attention to keep the medium moist enough. This might be a good time to experiment with automating the hempy, I guess like a bato bucket. I think it would be easy to do, all you would need is a cheap pump, a timer and some hose. :peace:

Me thinks SS is going to plant in a small container, then transplant in to a big one, once the small one is a root ball.

Putting a seed in 2 gallons of perlite would require lots of baby sitting!

Re: MK-Ultra Hempy, C02, 1000watts.

I'm going to bury a rapid rooter plug in there for germination, and since I'm layering the perlite and hydroton, there shouldn't be as much drama until the roots hit the res.

And yeah, I will spray them at every opportunity until they're established, but that's how important I think it is. I do that planting directly to soil pots also, so it's not a big deal. Three light waterings a day is enough, and that's without using saran wrap.

Re: MK-Ultra Hempy, C02, 1000watts.

If you were to bury them deep so they hit the res quickly would they still come up? I know they should be shallow but think maybe the medium would allow them to grow through a bit easier. I'm not experienced at germing but curious what the pros think.

Re: MK-Ultra Hempy, C02, 1000watts.

No, they wouldn't go deep, the top of the plug even with the surface, and the seed planted about 1/2" deep into the plug. The plug should retain enough moisture for the seed to germinate well and for the seedling to get a start. I'm going to do 4 layers, each about 2-3" thick depending on container height, starting with perlite at the bottom and ending with hydroton at the top.

Or, I could bury a small 2-3" coco pot filled with Perlite or a soil-less mix in there.

There's lots of ways.

It's going to work ;).

I know it will work....I can't wait to see you do that grow. :smokin:

Re: MK-Ultra Hempy, C02, 1000watts.

I would be concerned about germinating in perlite unless its of the finer grade. Even then I would like to be able to control better where they are - or just be able to find them as well as keep them really soaked.

A few days ago I decided on a hybrid approach. I germinated in water with Clonex and H2O2. Then when there was a substantial tap root outside the hull I placed them in mini coffee cup hempy buckets. I am watering them three times a day with the germination solution and they are beneath a humidity dome with a LED panel over them. So far it seems to be going well - first set of leaves coming out. The plants are all about 1/2 to 1 inch above the perlite and have not begun to get any root hairs or offshoots - it's just a plant on a tap root. The root is surprisingly tough at this stage. I knocked one of the seedlings around in its container and just put it back upright between a couple chunks of perlite and it's doing fine. No hairs yet to tear off so thats a good thing.

Sounds like a good method. It's similar to what I did on this journal. The only thing I would say is to not use the humidity dome. Clones might need it, but seedlings do not need the extra humidity, and in fact may be damaged by it.

Keep light off the roots and handle them as little as possible.
