MK-Ultra Hempy - C02 - 1000 Watts

Re: MK-Ultra Hempy, C02, 1000watts.

Wow Doc!
The color of your leaves look great, and it appears you are doing a great job avoiding the initial flower stretch. I am excited to see these babies start budding. On a side note, I might be following you. I have been considering both G13, and OG Kush for my next run. Of course you're growing the cross lol. I almost feel unoriginal, but I really did love having your experience with the Blue Dream, we will see.... I also 100% agree about the direction Cannabis will take, I know I have reached the point where I rate bud off of taste/smell/look/affect. I no longer care about "1 hitter", but I get excited about a pungent smell, or a Delicious taste.
Take care,
and don't forget to go to MDO for some good quality nature time!

Thanks!

I'm very happy with how things are going right now. Of the 8 plants, 6 are picture perfect. Each leaf, perfect, no burnt tips, no yellowing, no spots. Of the 2 that aren't perfect, one of them has a single, lower, fan leaf with yellowing and spots. It doesn't get any light.

The other one has some other issue and is taller than the others, less dense, and seems more sensitive to nutes.

But each of the "less than perfect" plants are still VERY healthy.

I'm getting some stretch....they've added about 30% in height....I've had to raise the light. But the MH use in early flower is reported to reduce stretch. I'll probably use it for 3 weeks, then switch to HPS.

Taste is where it's at! I'd much rather smoke a joint of delicious bud than take a massive, single bong hit. The act of smoking is fun, the smell is delightful, and I feel like an adult when I smoke a joint, instead of a teenager wanting to get F'd up. BTW, I am an adult, not a teen, but I pretty much stopped smoking when I was 22.

What I've been doing is rolling blended joints, some of them with 3 strains and kief. I'm rolling them for taste first and then effect. I then give them to friends and get feedback from them.

My best blend so far:

2parts FLO
1 Part Blue Dream
Kief from an early harvested Sativa.

This combo tastes mild..no coughing....but people who smoke it feel like exercising, but with a big smile on their face. No couchlock or stoney feeling.

My next blend is for nightime, and this is my wife's favorite:

1part Blue Dream
1 part White Widow
1/2 part Trainwreck
Kief from Jack Herer.

This one makes you smile, laugh, then get a little sleepy. 2 hours later, you're peacefully asleep. The next morning, we wake up and talk about what a fun time we had. :grinjoint:

And I'm a rookie! What fun.

Hahah nice..
Impressive plants man..
I'm 19 and recently found (well a couple months ago) out that i smoke for the Experience of the high first then flavor. To me flavor is Very important as well as really taking time to set back and enjoy the bowl or joint!

I have'nt tried many mixes thus far but my favourive flavor by far was from a strain called Lavender tasted like sweet inscents through the whole joint with a soaring energetic high that came to a heavy knockout stoned end.

I think your experience is fairly normal. When I was 19, I didn't care much about anything EXCEPT the effect.

We smoked mexican brick weed (not all of it was bad). We occasionally got some really good Oaxacan, Columbian or Thai. Some of that was amazing. The only thing I've smoked that comes close to the effect from the Thai I got in the '70s is Super Lemon Haze. Another member on the forum here grew something that came very close to the high-end Mexican stuff. Other than that, I really miss the old-school strains that seem to have disappeared.

But I didn't care how it tasted, or if I coughed, etc. Every little leaf was precious.

We'd drink Mescal and eat the worm. We'd put Everclear in grape juice. We'd make Long Island Ice Tea with cheap ass booze. We wanted to get F'd up and we didn't care so much about anything else. We always finished our beer.

Now, for whatever reason, I have a different view of things. While I greatly enjoy the Cannabis effect, I'm much more of a connoisseur. I want to get pleasure from all of my senses, and I don't like coughing.

Re: MK-Ultra Hempy, C02, 1000watts.

Lucky for me 90% of everything iv'e ever smoked has been decent chronic and has had a name (Purple Kush, Lavender, Green Crack, Afghani Bullrun, Bubba Kush, OG Kush,Blueberry <-Tasted like blueberry muffin mix Mmmmmmm!)

No doubt that's some top shelf stuff! I couldn't agree more.

However, it is my opinion that we've only begun to scratch the surface. Those who grow Cannabis, for the most part, are concerned, in this order with:

1.)yield, of which flowering time and dry weight per Sqm are factors.
2.)potency
3.)taste

Imagine grapes being grown to be the largest grapes possible---yield
Then those grapes are fermented to get the highest possible alcohol content (marc alcohol....nasty stuff)
And then call that "wine."

That's not at all how it's done! But then, today's winemakers are yesterdays felons. Once Cannabis becomes fully legal, we'll see a transformation take place, just as it did with alcohol after prohibition was repealed.

I remember the weed from the 70's, "Hey, you got some weed?", "Yeah, got this red hair sensimilla, it is kicks ass" or "Yeah got some dirt weed" or "Yeah, got some homegrown, it is green tasting." I am sure a few of you have bought a 4 finger bag and know exactly what that means.

In the 80's I graduated to more sophisticated weed, Mexican Sativa, Jamaican (only purple strain I had seen), Thai stick, Maui Waui, Acapulco Gold(are there any gold/yellow strains anymore) and Humbolt (lime green) or weed (95% of the time)....I guess I was never around people that cared about names, just partying :grinjoint:.

Ok, am rambling again......!!!:roorrip:

LOL! I remember buying a "lid" of 'Mersh' for 10 bucks. There were never any buds in it, and there was at least 50 seeds.

Then, the first Oaxacan started showing up....a true Mexican haze. I'll never forget being totally high for the first time after smoking about 1/4 ounce of this stuff at one sitting. It blew our minds. At about this time we learned what a bong was.

Then Colombian Gold, and Red Bud were showing up, along with Thai Stick, Elephant Thai, MauiWowie, etc. All great stuff, super nice sativa buzz, some of it better than anything I've had since.

Then we started hearing about this "Sensimillion" weed; what the hell was that? Some new strain? Who knew? Pretty soon every bag of weed was mostly buds and no seeds and many of us learned about male and female, etc. No more headaches either!

It seems like everything went downhill when Skunk and this wierd "Indica" stuff started showing up. No longer were we high....we were stoned, out of commission, sleepy. And that's when I stopped smoking, for one reason or another.

Of all the names I knew from back then, only skunk remains.

However, I do have some nice seeds that are supposed to be Columbian Gold, from way back then. I can't wait to grow them!

I'm rambling on and on and on....but hey, it's my journal, right? What I'm trying to say is that I'm totally enjoying my re-entrance into the world of cannabis, learning new strains, etc.

I hope somewhere, somehow those old strains can be recovered.

Re: MK-Ultra Hempy, C02, 1000watts.

Very, very nice. Those plants look very nice and healthy, Doing a great job... Going to have some nice, sticky buds before you know it....

Thanks Sonzor! I checked on them this morning and we've got the first few white pistils beginning to show.

I also pinched off all the itty-bitty bud sites on the lower most branches, except for the top two. So, I'll have less popcorn and more main colas if everything goes right.

Big growth spurt....about an inch and a half overnight.

Projected harvest date estimate: March 18.

Re: MK-Ultra Hempy, C02, 1000watts.

Day 14 flower:
Everything is green. On all but one plant, each and every leaf is perfect. On the plant where there are a few less-than-perfect leaves, they still look fantastic. On that plant, I just can't get rid of the purple petioles....but it's still growing great.
The clone has finally started growing. Remember, I'm mistreating this clone on purpose. I'm only using a time release 14/14/14 fert.

Current Nute regime, per gallon of tap water:
2 tsp FF grow
2 tsp FF Tiger Bloom
1 tbsp FF Big Bloom
8 ml Hygrowzyme
1 1/2 tsp Hammerhead
4 ml Botanicare Sweet

PH 6.0 PPM 1500

With this regimen, I haven't needed to PH my tap water for about a week. No burning, no claw....and on all but one plant, no purple petioles.

Re: MK-Ultra Hempy, C02, 1000watts.

Hey Doc,love your setup. Do the white trays have drains in them? And just for a reference,on my grow I gave my plants 5ml of sweet at a few wks old and pretty much followed the schedule on the bottle. I realize this is just personal preference and would change your overall PPM. Just thought I'd throw that out there. :peace:

Thanks for the visit,

I always try to stay at just under recommended PPM's for nutes. This way, I avoid burning sensitive plants, and supplementing is always better than flushing.

The white trays are tilted 1/2 inch so they drain into the blue buckets you see. I just drilled a 1/8 hole where the hydro plumbing would normally go. I just water so I get nice runoff, and catch the runoff in the blue buckets, which I can check for PH, etc.

Re: MK-Ultra Hempy, C02, 1000watts.

Good point, also i see your using grow and bloom nutes? I'm certainly not questioning you, just trying to learn. It seems most people switch to bloom nutes before they flip to 12/12, and no cal/mag? I thought that was almost a necessity for hempys, although the nutes and Sweet both contain trace amounts of cal. and mag. :peace:

The easy answer is that FF recommends the use of Grow and bloom for the flower stage. Also, I'm using tap water, which has a PPM of about 400 right out of the tap. Most of that is calcium, a bit of it magnesium...more than enough for the plants. I used RO water and CalMag on my last grow, and had some deficiencies. The longer answer appears below.

Warning: soapbox rant follows,

I am of the conviction that most of the "nutes" that target the hobby grower are pure hype. For instance, the notion of "Grow" and "Bloom" nutes. Plants need N,P and K throughout their entire life cycle. Breaking down plant food into "grow" and "bloom" is merely a gimick to sell more product.

There is nothing wrong with growing a plant to maturity with "grow" formulations, and merely supplementing with some P and K during bloom. There is no need for 12 different products, as one company recommends.

Fox Farms is about the best of the bunch, IMO, because they have a total of 6 products, 2 of which are unnecessary. I think GH is also good in that way.
Advanced is probably the worst....they have so many products, no one can keep it straight So, I'm just trying to use balanced nutes, and make sure they get what they need. It's working.

Also, Sweet has a ton of magnesium sulphate....otherwise known as Epsom salt. Hammerhead....which is a PK spike also has lots of Mag. The tap water has everything else, along with the grow and bloom from FF, I have no deficiencies and no burning.

The clone I'm growing out has only a time released fert and tap water. It's starting to get healthy now.

So, as long they get NPK and minerals/micro's the plants will grow just fine. No magic is needed, no 1000 dollar outlays for a shelf full of product. No simple mistakes that will fry your crop.....no "lock out," etc.

I have a bit of experience with vegetable gardens, and I wouldn't dream of feeding them like we do MJ....and I wouldn't want to eat plants that were fed the AN "heavy" schedule. (I wouldn't want to smoke MJ grown with a million chemical salts either.

Thanks for listening.....just don't burn em, and keep em green. DNA and photoperiods due the rest.

Re: MK-Ultra Hempy, C02, 1000watts.

your garden is looking beautiful, and I'm glad the clone is doing OK. I have high hopes for that clone ;).

Do you let your tap water sit for any length of time before using it?

I'm trying to get a water report for the local tap water, but can't find any info on chloramine.

rock on doc!

No proof of this but chloramine is supposed to be less toxic to plants at the levels they use. No clue if that is true though.
