its funny I have have my super lemon haze that has been curing for the last 4 or 5 months, I have been smoking my bubble gum and full moon and forgot about the Super Lemon Haze. Going to have to break that out tonight.. Thanks for reminding me...

No offence, but would.nt curing for that long greatly effect quality? I may be mistaken but i also hear super lemon haze is one of the highest thc potent strains!

No offense taken, And yes it would greatly affect the quality for the better. Some people cure there buds for over a year. I am sure at some point it might start taking a negative turn, but I think for the first year it just keeps getting better. At least thats what I have read and heard. Have not had bud that was cured for a year. Get back to me in about six months and I will tell you if its any better after a year. I am sure I will still have some left..

I've been told that the stuff they use for the Cannabis Cup is usually cured for a year. I've noticed a significant improvement in my stuff with just a month long cure. I can't wait the taste it in another month or two. (I think I'll still have some left....)

But that SLH is some really nice stuff. I'm gonna have some more tonite!

Girls look great Doc, does the osmocote contain all the nutes or N-P-K? Is it time release? My hempy seedlings are 2 1/2wks and the 3 big ones roots already hit bottom! They only have 3 to 4 sets of leaves and are already starting to take off, love the hempy! A quick question, how early should I switch from 24/0 to 18/6? I still have some seeds that are just popping above the surface. thanks Doc, you're the man!

The Osmocote I'm using on the clone is only NPK. Between the soil and the tap water I should be good on micro's for a while.

It's a matter for discussion, but the people I've learned from like to give the seedlings a rest, so I'd put 'em on 18/6 from the get go. But understand that this is a matter of preference....unless there's another reason, like you want to re-veg or something.

Great topic. Curing. My little bit of info to contribute: Some cigar manufacturers cure their cigars for years. It just depends on how slowly you lower the humidity. As was said - some of the CC winners cure for many months possibly even a year.

I'm also pretty sure I remember reading that the biggest thing that affects potency over the long term is light. I can't remember the exact numbers, but I think buds that were cured then put in a light tight and air tight container lost only about 10% of their potency after a year whereas buds that were cured and put in a clear air tight container lost 30-50%.

I've heard exactly the same thing, and I've had occasion to smoke some really well cured buds.

I tell you what, I'd rather take twice as many hits of something that tastes good and is half as potent.

My perspective on MJ is similar to wine. I'd never buy a bottle of wine that boasted 22% alcohol. I'd certainly get a wine that had 13% and tasted like nectar however....

I tell ya what....I save you a nice nug or two, dried and cured.

Warning:this is a heavily medicated journal entry! Trainwreck and Super Lemon Haze in the same bowl.

Fan Leaves: these plants have ginormous fan leaves, keeping many branches in the dark. I talked to a pro, who just grew this strain and he said to cut the fan leaves across, so the leaf tips are half as long. You keep the fan leaf, and open up penetration of light. So I did that, but didn't take a pic of the cut leaf. I'll get that tomorrow.

I just caught this today. (very dark under the canopy, this leaf was hidden)
It's the only leaf on the plant like this, the rest are perfect, so I don't think it's a deficiency. My theory, since the leaf got no light, the plant started feeding off of it.

Liquid Light! Wow! I sprayed the plants, took pics, and the plant had moved like a radar tower, perked up and oriented perfectly to the light.

The SLH clone. I'm giving it rough treatment on purpose. Like I brought it home from Home Depot, put it in the vegetable garden and left it alone.

Yep. I think so too....I gave it a nice drench an hour ago, so hopefully that will flush it out a bit.

It's an unplanned experiment, kind of like your step brother's kid from another marriage comes to live with you...it's not like your own kids...the other ladies have their own rooms, but this one sleeps in the kitchen, on a mat.

But I really like SLH, so I'm thinking maybe I should try to grow this thing out.....but then, I want to try this pot-grower schmot-grower approach.....damn....what to do?

Bro, you've got some mad skills growing with those CFL's. We gotta talk about that sometime. I'm toying with the idea of getting a large CFL light source and using it for a few hour a day when it get's really hot in the summer.

that is exactly why I went to CFLs, heat.. I had a 400w HPS w/ cheap reflector... man i got so hot in the closet...

Honestly, with CFLs, the best one overall is the 65w 2700k CFLs with 4200lumens... they are warm to the touch... I got the equivalent of a 400w HPS, as far as lumens, but I can put them 6-8 inches away... cant beat that.. btw, the bulbs i got from homedepot for 15$ each.. another plus is redundancy.. If one bulb fails, its no big deal.

42 w CFL just dont put out enough light... while 200w CFLS are hotter than a 250w HPS bulb
