Mcloadie's Second Grow Journal

well it stopped snowing all of a sudden and now there isnt a cloud in the sky. but the temps dropped 8 degrees sense I got up.
first full day of spring and its 10 degrees out who woulda thunkit

A high of 65 here today, I got really burned out on the cold when I was a kid, 7 days in the field with a shelter half and a poncho without a liner..........in the northwest in winter. I slept back to back with my buddy for the whole week. He said that this is how the rangers do it and insisted that we fill our packs with empty water jugs to make em look full...LOL. I was assistant gunner on a .50, and that sumbitch was heavy, no matter which half you had to carry!

Is the lake frozen? Can get pretty chilly if you got a north wind blowing over a big ice cube.

no sir thats why we had snow last night the north wind blows on the open water and cold+wet=snow and lots of it as long as the wind blows.
its been another easy winter here all in all. and we always get 2 good snows before tax day:)

Gotcha! Lake effects. Was in Rochester NY one winter. Took off on a snowy day to go to Toronto, 95 miles NNW as the crow flies. No snow there, just blue skies and a stiff northwest wind blowing.

Pump, manifold and airstone configuration

I made the skirt out of a piece of shower curtain, attached to the perimeter of the pvc rectangle with glue. This will be replaced with a more durable material when this one fails. You see my feet budbud?

And.....Bob's your uncle!

I see tiny little toes:)
is the curtain there to block light?

Fish, I think it's to block the water to avoid leaking.

Looks nice McLoadie. That's what I envisioned when you described it. Curious why you only put in 12 sites?

Oh wait... I know why I think. You're the person putting an auto misting dome on top, right?

Do you think the airstone is needed? I thought the water would get aerated enough just being sprayed through the jets. I just built my cloner too though, so I'm not sure. Should I add one to mine?

First we test without the dome, then I make a hole in the lid at each end, outside the curtain, so water dosen't splash, but allows the moisture in the reservoir to rise into the dome, the dome will have a light attached to it so it's self contained. I put the airstone in the reservoir next to the pump to give extra aeration....who knows if it helps, but it certainly can't hurt.......first do no harm....LOL

Watered with molasses and water, + 1/4 light dose of calmag. I gave 3 cups / 2 gal pot, and this gave a tiny bit of runoff. The messed up breaks that happened during the initial breaking are healing, most of these plants were super difficult to break, I should have been more patient, not a huge amount of bad breaks, but enough to cause me to have to wait instead of doing what I think should be done right now. These plants should be coming back out, some touch up breaks made and put back in, in a different position, instead they wait for the bad breaks to stabilize a little, so I don't do any permanent damage moving them.

morning Mc, those hurt will only become stronger:)

man the MOtM is a real doozie, still got a good chance :)

OK, here's what i've just done and why. I didn't have any of the mkf in my harem ( mothers )(mexikush fem), and my yeti that's rooting now are weak, but will survive, but I would like a measure of assurance that I'm gonna save that cross, it takes 4 months to get a cross, and the plant made one seed. So, I shitcanned 6 cuts previously made, from the aerocloner...They were only one day in....FTC! ( F those cuts...LOL), and replaced them as follows; mkfb10 x 2, mkfb3 x 2, yeti x 2. I didn't take any special precautions makin these cuts, I just use sharp scizcors........however you spell them, cut em, trimmed em and put the stem in water til I could get to the cloner, then installed em. The cloner dosen't leak at all......a little seepage at the collars, not enough to accumulate on the cloner lid. The moisture forming in the reservoir is a good indication that when i modify the lid with two more holes outside the curtain, that moisture's gonna end up in good proportions inside the dome....when it''s installed. I have word from a grower that the dome gave 300% improvement in rooting, being manually misted inside periodically. First root check in 3 more days, the cuts I chucked today had well formed callus on the cut stems.

I found that sissors is my achielies heel also and that other word I just misspelled
what the hell good is spell checker? it dont do nothing but tell me its wrong:)

Ya fishy, it's a huge honor for me to be considered, it would be awesomer even to win. I've already gained sooo much from this forum, I feel like I owe sooo many people who've contributed, and continue to, and the field of horticulture in general, to my base of knowlege, and I don't plan on letting any of those fine people down. Thanks to everyone!:circle-of-love:
