MassMedMan's Spring Fling - Indoor/Outdoor - Organic - Medical - 6 Autos

I hear you all, trust me. And I hate to be an askhole, but, now that I'm back, I just think the 24 is going to be bigger in my yard, then I want. I have room to put it elsewhere, but, I get high winds. And the location I have gets great sun, but it's protected from those winds. I'm on a pond, with over 200 acres of farm land on the other side. Plus, being on the pond, I don't get many who don't live on it fishing it, but, I get some. It's a well known lunker hole. Anyway, that extra size of the greenhouse makes it more visible. Increases the risk for me, I think. I'm going to do some measuring in the morning, well after noon since tomorrow I have 930 Easter brunch with the clan. Do a little risk assessment, mull it over, but I need to get to building.

I'll get a better look in the morning.

As far as the new grow goes..... No water in the perlite yet. Pots are getting dry after sitting in my sun room all-day, all week. I can see some clover, I'll get better pics tomorrow, but there is clover sprouting, and good moss or fungi stuff growing on the top of the soil.

All the stuff I ordered from BAS is sitting in a warehouse until Monday, except the worms, no confirmation on shipping yet.

Anyway, beans are in water!! :bravo:

Pots are in my tent with a small space heater set to 60. I'll throw a cfl with a timer in there tomorrow.

Left Florida a few hours ago and it was 90, right now its 32 outside.

Here we go.......

Well done. Thought out and executed with authority. Excellent.

Let the magic begin.

Thank you, Sue,, means a lot, now I need your help I was hoping you were around! When do you think I should add water to the perlite?

I expect to put the beans in peat pots late tomorrow. They go in a grow tray, with a heat pad. I assume they germ in a couple days, maybe Wednesday they might be ready to go in those smart pots....

I'll get all my BAS stuff Monday. I know water only for the perlite/swick....

????

It only takes an hour or so to get the perlite saturated, but the sooner you do it the easier the perlite is to deal with. Dry, it floats in the air. Wet, it stays put. I'd do it now. It'll take a lot of water.

I like to think of how all those water molecules wicking their way up through the perlite are picking up extra oxygen as they go. More oxygen for the soil. More fuel for the community. More oxygen for the roots. Sweet.

Looks like I need to get some water ready..

This is gonna be my favorite grow to watch. Side by side by side comparisons and throwing a proper living organic soil+ routine into the mix.

If house and garden were to mysteriously show up on his door. Like the full line up my money's on that.

Go 3M you got this.
Our co journal is gonna be budzilla babies evwrywhere

The plant with the Hydroyton has FFOF only, it's the only five gallon can, and the only one not being SWICK trained, and will get a full line of nutes. I was planning on giving that one the Fox Farms trio..... But maybe I'll have a sample of house and garden -- a month or so from now when I start feeding them?? ;)

Thank you, COrganics,, very happy to have you around! And, DP,, much thanks again for everything, you go above and beyond to help people and as much as I prefer not to advertise stuff,,, you've given me more help then I could ever imagine. :Namaste:

Just got up, only closed my eyes for a second, and it's time for Easter brunch with the family.

Be back later....

Hope everyone that celebrates is able to spend time with their family today!!!

Just got home, and went out to give the pots a spray of water and in the process I disturbed some bugs, winged ones. How rude of me... Could be nats, baby flies, or who knows. Im wondering what I should do now to get on top of them, and pests in general? Last grow, in the dead of the winter I was spoiled. But, I anticipated having bug problems this grow, due mostly to the spring weather.

Peat pots warming, one seed each shot glass has sunk already. Plan is to put those beans in the peat pots tonight.

Good idea. It's likely if you have gnats they're gonna love the environment the SWICK provides. If gnat farming doesn't sound too good, get some gnatrol, DE, sticky tape, vinegar traps, beneficial insects like centipedes, nematodes, mites. Continually top dressing with neem seed meal seems to help over time. Combination approach is more effective organically.

Thanks for the info, I'm sure I'll get better dealing with them/pests in time. I figured/read/heard the SWICK setup will attract,,, stuff,,, Ill get the de and bits tomorrow. Have neem, need a few sticky strips..... maybe my lady bugs will help,, my yard for some reason is a magnet for them...

All six beans have sunk, in peat pots in a few. Then on top of my fridge under a heat mat.

"Gnat farming" - CO, you crack me up! :laughtwo:

More and more I'm trying to come to peace with the gnats. CO, you'd mentioned once that you were beginning to believe they weren't the threat in LOS that they may be in other soils, and the more I watch my own garden, the more I think you may be on to something there. I'm finding myself wondering why I'm so concerned about them.

They're obviously an important part of the decomp chain. I think we may be looking at it all wrong. Let me be clear and reiterate I'm speaking of LOS. There's so much organic matter in our soil that the gnats have much more variety and may not be going after the roots at all. They may actually be assisting the community. Gentle and hardworking giants as it may. They obviously aren't hurting our vigorous plants.

I'll give you they're annoying, but they smash easily when you've had enough. You do have to check the glass for suicides before drinking, and for some reason they really like Frosted mini wheat cereal, so you have to check that as well. I'm more tolerant than most. Dale has learned to look the other way.

I think CO offers good advice here. Come at it from all directions, making improvements to the soil health as you go and choosing only those methods that enhance the soil. Practice tolerance of those tiny creatures as you create an environment that they are no longer attracted to. The neem addition appears to be one of the big guns in this quest for healthy soil. From my studies of existing grows, all new soils may go through this stage. With proper management and care they all improve and become gold-standard growing mediums. That's what I'm chasing.

Proud to be hippy dippy. :green_heart:

Will do, nothing yet.

Beans for this grow are warm and dark in peat pots on my fridge... maybe soon I'll see life!!!

Nothing but the basics here, like hippy dippy.

I prefer pb and fluff, u?
