Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

Welcome, froglegz, I recommend you MarsII400w. The coverage of MarsII400w is 3'x3' at the height of 24". It will fit your grow area well.:Namaste:
So what would be better, two of the new "old style" 300w lights or a single 400w II? I'm covering about 2.5x2.5x5 and I have 2 plants. Thanks!

I may be an old fashioned kind of guy, but when I buy something I expect to plug it in and the damn thing just work with out having to dick around with it all the time and my 1200 (without switches) is doing a fine job of that at the moment knock on a flamed hunk of bird's eye maple.

Im the opposite , I am going to add switches to the old style panels so I can control the output and position of the LED strips. When I first bought my Panels I opened them and added four 6 ix 1 inch heat sinks to each Panel so now the boards are full of heat sinks.

Off subject but took parts off my car added uprated parts , now it makes 75% more hp with a 100% increase in torque over stock.

Seems I can't keep my hands off of things..or leave well enough alone.

:thumb: thank you for the advice, LEDBud.:thanks:
I think the single 400w II for that set up as its only one panel to fit in and a extremely high watt per sq ft.

But it would be more fun with 2 Panels.. one for seedings and starting the grow off and 1 for a flowering tent.

With two small grow tents you could have a Auto harvest every 6 weeks.

Thats the latest Plan I am implementing is to have two Auto's in flower and Two in grow in two tents/cabinets.

So I start them 6 weeks apart. For me I need to start my next two seeds in about 2 weeks to get the cycle starting.

Thanks for the picture, Blackstarline. The plants look great!:thumb: It looks like red... Could you post the pic of the panel? I will ask the engineer to check it.:Namaste:
Thanks. All of the red ones have gone a bright orange. The camera doesn't even show how orange it's gone can someone please post a pic of theirs with just the Bloom on please.

:thumb: thank you for the advice, LEDBud.:thanks:

( I made a error ) a few posts later I did the Math and the old style Panel works out to 47w per ft. , The Mars 400 II would put the watt per ft to something very high like 70w per ft , 50w per sq is the recommended maximum do to Light saturation.

! I Although 70w per ft may increase yield/growth further Yet !

In the 2.5x2.5 sq ft box that was being used there would be no need to go over 50w per ft.

But ... in a 2x4 box I could/can fit my 3 Mars old/old panels for a whooping 70w per sq ft.

I only use 2 panels in it which works out to 47.5w per sq ft.

Hi froglegz, we don't sell the Old Model at the website, but it's available on eBay. MarsII has IR, but the Old Model doesn't have it. The three choices you offer are all enough for your grow space. I still advice you to choose MarsII, considering it is better built than the Old Model.:Namaste:
Thats a fantastic idea but I don't have the space just yet. Although its definitely got me thinking. Now what about comparing two 300w "old style" vs one 400w II? Or a single 600w "old style" vs one 400w II? Two 300w have more total combined LEDs but the spectrum isn't quite as optimized as the 400w II. When looking at the price two 300w or a single 600w would still be less than the 400w II so its kind of a toss up. Can you still get the old style on the website or just on eBay? So much to think about.....

I have not seen any grows with the Kind LED 1000. Never even heard of it till you posted it. Had to google. :peace:

One of the people at the local hydro shop has one but he does not talk about it much only that he has trouble getting plants to finish and he considers that a led problem. When I showed a photo of my last grow just before harvest with the Mars lights I only got a tight lipped smile and after seeing the price on the Kind I understand why but then again it's how you use your equipment not how much it costs

Great advice, I have googled Cannabis leaf deficiency chart. It's very helpful.:thumb:
You could double up on the micro nutrients for the next feed as it looks deficient in one or more.. Have a look at the Cannabis leaf deficiency chart thats all over the website and the Internet.

Like Denise said about checking your water/nutrients PH.

In case your not on top of your PH , Remember to do it after mixing nutrients up , its VERY important , if its off the micro nutrients become unavailable to the Plant. thats called PH lock out and very common for people who Pay little attention to their PH to have poor crops.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your Plant is looking good , often old growth can look ratty , its not so important but is a sign .. the New growth *could* be next.
That's correct. The plants need full spectrum during flower and the fan will work with veg on. So don't foregt to turn on both during flower.:high-five:
I am new to this but if you are running it with just the bloom on maybe it is overheating? You have to run with only veg or both on for the fans to work.
Hello Mr. NiceGuy, how do you do. Our light has six bands including 430~440nm, 450~475nm 620~630nm, 650~660nm, IR, and white.:Namaste:
Hello Cannabis World this is Ch.1s Mr. NiceGuy here with a question how many Bands of Spectrum do the Mars Hydro LED line put out???
:goodjob:thanks for the constructive advice. They are helpful. The watt of Reflector series has increased because the chips quantity is the same as before. :Namaste:
Since they have been updated with 5w chips the 600w Old Style panel consumes around 270w , The 300w about 140w. The Mars II and reflector series gained 5w chips too but did not lose wattage in the process.
I say because the 3w chip panels before the upgrade consumed 360w and 185w
Reason is they use less 5w chips in the old style panels then they did with 3w chips ,but not in the Mars II / reflector series.
````````````````````````````````````````

Onward and forward

Using 1 of the 300w old that draws 140w in your 2.5x2.5 works out to*46w per sq ft*

A very nice percentage !

I think the Mars II 400 would be too Powerful for your space after thinking on it.

I am using some Mars old old :winkyface: version 100x3w Panels with great success.

They tell you to be between 30 and 50 watts per square foot.

during veg, you can turn on only Veg.:circle-of-love:
1 fan will still run as only half the LEDs light up it only needs 1. If you are not supposed to run just bloom they wouldn't put the switches on.

Great to know about it, looking at your plants, they do look great!:thumb:
Thank you this really does make me feel better, I've made the transition to led and the plants are doing great to be honest, bushy as hell and very healthy indeed. Nice one.

yes, this looks like orange, dark orange :cheesygrinsmiley: how close the light is to the plant
Here is a photo of my 96 x 3 on bloom only and it is orange

:circle-of-love: hi Blackstarline, please don't worry. The red diodes are red, not orange. When you turn on bloom, the white will be on. Our white is warm white, so when it mixes with the red color, it may appear orange.:high-five:
Pretty much the same as mine, thank you I can now relax I think.

the purple color should be the mixture of red and blue light.:cheesygrinsmiley: I like purple.
Your camera really takes red photos , mine and most peoples cameras seem to take purple tinted photos of LED grow rooms..

Maybe its the new 5w chips that are doing it..

:party:Gnarl, where have you been? Haven't seen you, like a year long.:hugs:
I guess it would make too much sense to put in a single rocker switch that gave you a choice of bloom (all leds) or veg to insure no one screwed up their light running with no fans?

congrats on the decision-making, it's not available at the website. You can order them at our eBay store. It's one year warranty at eBay.:Namaste:
Thank you for that great answer :). I'll start shopping for a 300w. Does anyone happen to know if the old style 300w will be available on the Mars-hydro homepage anytime soon or is eBay the only option to purchase one? I'd like to keep the 3 year warranty from ordering on their site if possible.
