Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

Your camera really takes red photos , mine and most peoples cameras seem to take purple tinted photos of LED grow rooms..

Maybe its the new 5w chips that are doing it..

If you read the posts they are photos of the lights in bloom only (no blue or white) when they are both on you get the purple tint

Since they have been updated with 5w chips the 600w Old Style panel consumes around 270w , The 300w about 140w. The Mars II and reflector series gained 5w chips too but did not lose wattage in the process.

I say because the 3w chip panels before the upgrade consumed 360w and 185w

Reason is they use less 5w chips in the old style panels then they did with 3w chips ,but not in the Mars II / reflector series.

Onward and forward

Using 1 of the 300w old that draws 140w in your 2.5x2.5 works out to*46w per sq ft*

A very nice percentage !

I think the Mars II 400 would be too Powerful for your space after thinking on it.

I am using some Mars old old :winkyface: version 100x3w Panels with great success.

They tell you to be between 30 and 50 watts per square foot.

Thank you for that great answer :). I'll start shopping for a 300w. Does anyone happen to know if the old style 300w will be available on the Mars-hydro homepage anytime soon or is eBay the only option to purchase one? I'd like to keep the 3 year warranty from ordering on their site if possible.

Ahhhh bloom only is all reds. Would of thought they used a few IR , white and blue for that as well.

After finding this out I have to say the Bloom switch is next to useless , unless someone wanted to flower without any blue IR and white.

With that switch set up someone could also veg without reds which seems just as foolish (to me)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If I owned those grow/bloom switched panels I would wire the ballasts up so bloom was 1/2 power and grow was half power. Sharing the IR , reds whites and blues.
It would be as easy as unplugging the power supplies and switching two of them around to get a 50-50 arrangement.
red and blue are Par light so to me it should be there constantly as plants will use it.
They are intended that you start in Grow and then add the bloom at flower stage and they do mix the light it is just predominate blue in growth and more red added at flower. The drivers power sections of the panels not led color and while in growth a mixture is still used that is determined by the printed board the lights are soldered to and the drivers connect to so switching drivers is not a answer just use the lights as intended or run both switches on
:circle-of-love: I couldn't wait to see.:cheesygrinsmiley: combine the theory with the practice.:high-five:
Not so much waiting as I left the computer on all day ;)
Well Sara we now have the answers for the blue, red mix on the Veg cycle on the Mars Lights and even though the power is less the mix will promote a healthy plant during veg stage and while it limits vertical growth all other aspects of the plant will be great and save power too.:goodjob:
After looking all this up my clones from my clones are bathing in Veg only from a 96 x 3 reflector and seem to be enjoying life and we will see how fast they set roots:thumb:
With my lights I unplug my power supplies when I want half power. Each ballasts/ power supply powers 1 of 4 strips on the LED board
So you can mix them up to your liking. On my panels the Center 2 strips are mostly blue + white IR and the two end strips are mostly red
When I mix one center strip with 1 end strip I have a full spectrum 1/2 power panel for seedlings etc.
:welcome: hello Bud, sorry for the confusing. The data at our website is the old one. We are updating the website. The new website will come out soon. In UK, you will get Reflector with 5w leds. :cheertwo:
Hi sara.... I am little confused, could you help me please..
The reflector series is showing 3watt leds on your website, but the stock you have in uk shows them as 5watt leds ( on an well known auction site )....
I am planning my new grow at the moment, so if you could answer this for me i would be very grateful..
Thankyou in advance
Haha, LED :thanks: thanks for the help. In Canada, only Reflector192 and Reflector48 is with 3w leds. :Namaste:
So your not waiting until china's day starts I can tell you that some pages back in this thread Sarah posted that the Mars II , the reflector series and the Old style are ALL using 5w leds now. In all but one country..
The 300w old style that uses 100x 3w leds now uses 60x 5w leds but the other panels use the same number as always just with updated LED's.
:rasta: yes, Bud, the new website is coming.:yahoo: It's not done. We will release it officialy once it becomes perfect.:high-five:
Thanks for clearing that up for me, fellow grower... Most appreciated...
I thought it had to be an upgrade over older reflectors... Since my post i found out that a new website is on the way
I may be an old fashioned kind of guy, but when I buy something I expect to plug it in and the damn thing just work with out having to dick around with it all the time and my 1200 (without switches) is doing a fine job of that at the moment knock on a flamed hunk of bird's eye maple.
:hugs: it's touching. You are still here with us.:Namaste: Looking back when we were 100pages, it's like a dream. At that time, we have never expected to go so far. Thank you, guys. :thanks:
Welcome to :420: fellow grower...
I hope the new set up, gets you loads of buds... I too value excellent customer service, thats my first LED panel will be a mars-hydro.... Great results and prices help too.. I remember this thread when it was less than a hundred pages.... :):):)
Back when they were asking for testers for their new lights... Time has flown and still very satisfied customers
Enjoy your grow
:Namaste:
:circle-of-love: thank you, glimmergrass. Hope you will like it.:cheesygrinsmiley:
Just wanted to pop in and thank SmokeSara for all her help! She's set me up with a 96x5 reflector shipping from the Canadian warehouse so I don't have to worry about customs charges. I made the decision to buy this light from her company because of the excellent customer service I saw on this thread. That makes the difference to me and to a lot of other people, I'm sure.
Thanks again -- I'll report in when it arrives and I get it set up!
haha, cali, which one do you prefer?Mars Pro has 256 Cree leds, kind led is mix of 3w and 5w leds. It's about 500 more. :circle-of-love:
kind led 1000 vs. mars pro 256cree ?
:circle-of-love:Hi starline, it's not normal. The leds will not turn orange. It should be red with bloom on. :Namaste:
That's my point, sorry it wasn't a question it's definitely turned orange I was asking is this normal. I will try to post a picture in the next half hr. Have you heard of the red lights doing this before. Thanks
yes, before there was. Now the problem has solved. The new stock will not have the same problem.:Namaste:
There was a problem with a few lights and the lens. Not sure if this is what the problem is. Post a pic and Sara will take care of it. :) :peace:
