Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

The design of the reflector lights and mars II lights are different, even though the reflector lights are upgrating to 5watt ones, they will still be cooler than Mars II lights. :circle-of-love:
Good morning Sara, I have a question regarding the reflector units. After a lot of research I understood that the Mars 2s with 5W are recommended for large rooms and the reflectors with 3W are recommended for tent grows as they run cooler . Will this still be the case after the reflectors are upgraded to 5W or will they then run as hot? What's actually the difference between Mars 2 and reflector when they're both 5W?

Yes SweetLeef, 900 pages, lol due to all of your help here :cheer::cheer: Guess soon we will reach 1000, haha :cheesygrinsmiley:
900 pages!

That's crazy!

Nice work Sara and everybody! :high-five:

Does anybody even know what will happen when we hit 1000?

I hope :420: doesn't implode because we've messed with the space-time continuum by breaking 1k on a forum ;)

Dear apeshot, thank you for your post below. :circle-of-love:
Firstly, we are willing to help you here, but we need to check the problem first so we can help you accordingly, that is why we hope you can open the light case and see if there is anything stock in the fans which make the noise,:circle-of-love: All of our lights components are designed to asseble in a easy way, because we are doing international business, we cannot help you in time always, therefore we are trying to making our lights more easy to use so you will have no problem with it. :thanks:
If the fan is broken, we can send a replacement to you for sure. :circle-of-love:
If the fan is not broken or stocked with other stuffs, then it might be just our fan make too much noise for you. :Namaste: For now, we cannot upgrated this, as you all know all of our lights are selling at a relatively cheaper price than other brand, the 1200w light you order you use is giving out more heat than other smaller lights, so the fan need to run faster to keep the temp. low, otherwise the light might have problems and won't last long. :Namaste: If you really cannot stand this, please just replace it with a better fan from your local store. :thumb:
The high-end quality accessories are expensive, if all of them are made of high end qualified ones, we won't be able to sell our lights at such a price. We are now just trying to find the balanced way to make all the accessories all enough good quality and affordable, so that more people benefit with the LED technology. :circle-of-love:
Thank you for posting this - finally someone is understanding what I'm getting at. It's the principle of having paid for something that develops a problem 3 days after setting it up out of the box then being told that I need to replace parts or at least start pulling electrical items apart (for which I have no qualification or inclination). Why would I do that, and risk making things worse and having a light that doesn't function at all, only to have the same response from Mars Hydro that I should just deal with it myself?

To buy something brand new which fails almost immediately then get told, and I quote:

is simply not good enough.

And to be honest it is rather insulting that I should be told by Sara, who represents Mars Hydro, that the problem lies with me:

After I already stated numerous times that the noise wasn't there at first and has developed since I hung the light, and it's not a case of me "not liking" the noise, but that the noise indicates a fault which may or may not impact on the life of the light. Not to mention the fact that the noise makes growing completely indiscreet.

These are all facts and quoted responses that I received when posting about this problem I am having with my Mars Hydro light.

Surely I can't be the only one that feels this is unacceptable, and getting told that I am taking a gamble and not paying as much for a Mars Hydro light as a Black Dog, Apache Tech etc doesn't mitigate the fact that I paid over AU$500 for a product which has developed a problem that I'm now being told to deal with myself.

We are now working on a local repair centre in AU as well, but it is not available for now, hopefully will be available soon. :Namaste:
i do feel you man i hope that it gets worked out and from my understanding you can send the light in for repair but it will have to be shipped there warehouse then back and if i remember reading correctly you do have to pay for shipping initually but should be reimbursed after everything is said and done, the option of fixing it ones self is usually faster and easier for most and is the same warrenty i have read on almost all of the more expensive LED's you've mentioned if not something that can be fixed by the purchaser. if sara is reading this i would like to know in case i run into a problem i cant fix.

all that said i would be way angry if my 500 dallor light didnt work no matter what the situation so i know whatever the outcome im sure itll leave a sour taste in your mouth but sometimes these things happen even to the best companys and i hope once everything gets worked out you get good results from the light.

That is right arellanobrian :circle-of-love:
here is there warrenty from there website and ive read many and even the "bumper-to-bumper" warranties that some really high end companys are pretty much the same, they ether take forever to ship to them then ship back or they will send you replacements so you can get it done faster.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We do appreciate that you chose our Mars Hydro Led grow lights. We are confident that with our quality products as well as our unbeatable customer service, you will not be let down. The warranty we offer you is good for 3 years and although we hope you will never need to use this warranty service, but if you do, we are here to help.
Warranty Procedure
Disclaimer: If the light has been tampered with or it is found that the damage is caused by the customer, there will be a repair fee associated with the return of your product. If the warranty seal is broken without our consent, your warranty becomes null and void. If damage has been caused by abnormal use, neglect (such as dripping water), wrong input voltage, dropping or breaking the light, disassembling of the light, etc, the warranty is void. Warranty coverage is ultimately left to the discretion of Mars Hydro. We reserve the right to refuse warranty repair or replacement service to anyone.
Repairs: For minor repairs such as a power supply and LED board replacement, you may need to send us pictures showing the problem. We will send the replacement part to you with instructions on how to replace it.
Replacement
In the event that the new replacement part does not correct the problem, or there is a more complex problem, the light will need to be returned for a warranty replacement. As for the replacement, we will contact the shipping company to ship the defective product back, and after it has been received we will send out a new replacement unit to you. The defective unit must be returned in its original packaging and box. If any part is missing or damaged, the sender will be charged additional fees for those parts or blemishes.
Light damaged during shipping
Before you sign for your package, you need to verify that the light is in good condition. If the light was damaged in shipping, you need to help us by filing a claim of negligence against the shipping company and get it returned to us by refusing to sign for the lights. Once we get the damaged light, we will reship a new unit to you. If it is only a small problem, you can sign it, and we will give you some refund 30~50USD or we can give you some discount (5%~10%) on your next order.
Light problems during the three year warranty
We are only responsible for problems that arise through no fault on your part. If any problem should arise, please email us or call us first. We will provide you with instructions on how to proceed. Please do not open the light without our permission. Because we are in China, our service would be different from your local service shop. Please take note of that. The following are some details.
1. Power supply, fans. VDE, power cord, bulbs, etc. We will ship new replacement parts to you at no charge, but you will need to replace the part yourself. The first year we ship the replacement parts to you at no charge, the second and third year, we give you replacement part at no charge, but you will need to pay the shipping charges.
2. LED burnt out: It will not influence the other bulbs as each of our led bulbs has it's own protective diode. We will send new replacement bulbs if needed. If you aren't familiar with replacement procedures for led bulbs, please ask for help from your local electronics shop. We will pay for you for the first time. The second and third year, you need to pay yourself.
3. If you cannot determine the problem, please ship the light back to us and we will repair it. The first year, we will pay for the shipping, the second and third year, you need to pay shipping charges, but no charges will be incurred for the repair.

apeshot, can you email us directly? We will never ignore you if there is a real problem there. :Namaste:
Thanks - yes I have read the warranty information on the Mars Hydro website, but from the responses in my post here you can see that my problem is still being treated like some sort of personal preference in relation to noise that I'm being told to deal with myself, and not as a warranty fault unfortunately.

Wow good for you uptosumpn, hang the light and let the show begin, lol :cheer::cheer:
I recieved my 2 144x5's today!:thanks:

High apeshot, guambomb80 is not work for us, he is just a warm hearted guy wanna help like many others here do. :Namaste: Please don't get me wrong, I do wanna help :Namaste:
Do you work for Mars Hydro? What do you mean by Lucy is expecting me?

Unless Lucy's response is different to Sara's then I'll be surprised if anything will happen.
Thank you guambomb80 :thanks:
No, I do not work for MarsHydro. I am just a good samaritan who contacted them yesterday about your issue. Best of luck!

:high-five:
I know, I sent you the email yesterday but Lucy responded to it so I just rolled with it. Either way, she said yall were handling it so I'm backing out now.

Thanks for your concern, and letting them know about my issues, I do appreciate it. I've been following your journal - keep it up!

PS: I used just 2x ratchet hangers for hanging my light in the same sort of tent, one on each side (left and right as you look from the door) and it seems to do the trick, rather than trying to use all four hooks on the Mars Hydro light.

No problem!
I tried to do that also, just seemed to me there was a reason for 4 brass hangers so I used them. If it fell when connected to all 4 hangers I can be upset with MarsHydro, if it fell with only 2 hangers, I'd be pissed at myself for not using all 4....
Thanks for following along, hopefully soon she will get some real growth and we can really start the show:thumb:

Sounds good so the reflector will be the choice for my veg tent.

I was thinking about 2x 48x3W for a 0,8mx0,8m tent but since they will be stronger only 1x 48x5W might be enough? I want to keep up to 3 bonsai mothers and grow not more than 6 clones or seedlings in there at the same time.

If I'd get 2x 48x3W, 1 light would be on 18/6 all time for the mothers and the other one would be added only when seedlings or clones are grown. Would that be enough light?

I know about the veg/bloom switch but can they also be customized to be only veg spectrum, no bloom spectrum and if yes should I do that? Or would full spectrum be better for mothers anyway?

The design of the reflector lights and mars II lights are different, even though the reflector lights are upgrating to 5watt ones, they will still be cooler than Mars II lights. :circle-of-love:

Hello. I have been reading up on the Mars 2 1600 LED's. I have a 8x9 area and was wondering if 3 1600's or 4 1200's would be better? Currently using 4 1000 watt hps hoods. This room is strictly used for bloom. Any suggestions?

:circle-of-love: Have you emailed Lucy yet? We are now working so we can reply you really fast :thanks:
