They say.... Plants and especially cannabis need most lighting during the flowering stage, so we`ll be using that as an estimate of how much area needs to be covered. A standard LED grow light must use more than 30 watts per square foot of grow space, but for optimum results it should be over 50 watts, up to 80 watts. You my friend need to decide what kinda grow you want.... You only need 120 watt draw to have a nice normal harvest. I'm doing it on less in my grow if you care to look. I'm only growing with 28 watts per sq ft. You want some biggest pumpkin awards and the biggest yield you can get in that space then I'd go 80 watts per sq ft. Get that tsw 2000. I'll watch the grow. Here is my argument. From what I know about growing cannabis is this: The more light you can project on the plant the better the results. The par value of sunlight is between 900-1500μMol/m2/s. Why wouldn't I want to get as close to that as possible?? The t2000 will physically fit in the tent. My goal is not produce high yields hence the 2x2 tent. I am after the best product that can be grown. Here are some screen shots from the Mars-Hydro website with measured par of the 2 lights. I think the consensus is the t1000 is a good fit. But I want to go to 11
Based on wanting to get the most you can get out of a 2x2 grow you need Led that draws 320 watts. I'd say 320 watts is the most you should think about going... your going to kill It !!!!!!!Here is my argument. Nice!!! But your not helping if you don't say what coverage your getting with lights... Or what your harvests are like with led watts per sq ft. UrbanGardner is trying to figure out what he needs for his grow... I'm in 8th week these babies are almost there and I'm doing it on 28 watts per sq ft. In all honesty because of negative pressure on tent I'm only about 3 1/2 X 3 1/2 . Let's just say for argument sake 30 watts per sq ft. I'm using a Mars hydro TS 3000. I hope this helps you UrbanGardner. I wish I had more advice when I was looking and asking a couple months ago. I may have went bigger if I truly understood how LED lights worked then. Anybody operating with some big Led light... show UrbanGardner your stuff so he can make a informed decision.
Looking Fantastic!!! Thanks for your feedback. I am currently running with good success a SP-150 in my 2x2. That is 37.5 w/sq ft. I am not 100% convinced w/sq ft is the correct formula when looking at the modern LED lights. My focus is getting a uniform high intensity PPFD on the entire 4sq ft of the tent. The SP-150 is an awesome light but the sweet spot is limited. In the attached photos the center buds are doing well but all the outer buds could use some help. My long term plan is to build a second tent with the SP-150 for veg and a TSW-2000 for flowering. Like I said in my previous post. I am not looking for quantity I want to grow the highest quality bud I can grow 1 plant at a time.Nice!!! But your not helping if you don't say what coverage your getting with lights... If you want a better harvest, you can use TSW2000, but be aware that the top temperature of the plant should not be higher than 30 degrees CelsiusLooking Fantastic!!! Thanks for your feedback. been a regular here for years , posting Mars results and , testing lights, general chat and sharing what we find as we go. I stopped pissing contests a good few years back lol. My post didn't need to be a nobel prize for humanity and using led. !. pmsl. bought lights , shoved em under and weed grew. cost waybless than hps , less heat and I push them a little more each grow to see what I can do or can't. All about the actual experience for me. The jargon and science were done before I even bought the lights so I just hit this forum and observed , asked questions and grew.Nice!!!
