Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

Your 700's draw about 350 watts each =700 watts. You must be killing it in a 2x4 with two of these. I would think one of those Mars ll 700's would be enough for 2X4 grow. One TSL 2000 is perfect for a 2X4. If you bought 2 of them you'd still have less light on plants but quality of light might be better. Two of TSL 2000 would be 600 watt draw. The new lights are nice with the new sun like spectrum. If I had money to throw away I'd get new lights just because of the sunlike affects. So much easier to see plants. I have a 4X4 grow with a Mars TS 3000. It draws about 450 watts and I'm only using it. I wish I would have bought two TSL 2000 for my 4X4 giving me 600 watts of light. Take a look at my current grow... The TS 3000 is doing a great job considering I'm a little under powered for the 4X4 space I'm in.

It's funny, I was looking at your Journal just the other day and seeing the newer, sleeker light fixture in one of your pictures was part of what started me thinking. I've also grown OG Kush quite a bit as it is one of my favorites.

Thanks for the watts info. I wasn't sure how the posted number matched reality. I am happy with the Mars Hydro lights I have but they're getting older and you're right about the colour of the light, more natural would be better. The old LED fixtures are pretty bulky too.

I'm redoing my homemade RDWC setup after a couple of years. My old 5 gallon bucket setup (2 for a plant each and for the reservoir outside the tent) will be replaced by square 8 gallon containers and I might look at some new lights for it.

Your OG Kush grow looks great. The hard part now will be waiting long enough for them to turn cloudy. Almost there.

The new white LED lamp is more efficient than the traditional purple lamp. Tsl2000 is very suitable for the area of 2x4. If you have a large budget, I suggest you choose sp3000. The samsung chips used in this lamp has a wattage of 300 w and more red light in the spectrum, which is more conducive to the growth of plants in the flowering stage

got a new tent for xmas - 4x4x80 - now looking around for lights and keep coming back to look at the tsw2000 - will this be enough? maybe 2 smaller ones? so many options - help!!!!!

Thank you... I'm quite happy with first grow.. In reality this light won't win me any biggest pumpkin ribbons, but I think it's vary adequate for a 4X4. I'm naturally competitive, so I have to rain it in. At around 450 Watts it's very affordable to run this setup. There is a suggestion I have seen several times. Light wattage for LED's should be between 30 to 50 watts per sq ft. I have less than 30 for my grow which is why I say I'm slightly underpowered. I wish you luck on finding the right light for you... I hope I have helped. Happy New Year Stargrow :snowboating:

One isn't big enough for 4x4 .Light wattage for LED's should be between 30 to 50 watts per sq ft. That's 500 watt's minimum for 4X4 to 800 watts for those prize winners. I'm running about 450 watts in my grow.. using a mars ts 3000 in my 4X4

I don't know much about the led lights @Plant Daddy, other than price, last longer than HPS bulb(how mant grows on HPS bulb), and they cover less area.
question : They sell the 2000watt with tent kit from Mars but i notice the light is suggested for 3x3 room in bloom and 4x4 in veg. do the lights lose coverage area in bloom?? or is under powered in your view?
I have a 4x8 tent and was thinking 3x 2000watt lights or 2x 3000watt lights.

The 3000 series (not watts) bring samsung chips and meanwell drivers. I believe the 3000 series also bring in UV chips. Longevity is increased with the 3000 series.
The 2000 series does not use a meanwell driver. They utilize another chinese built driver...forgot name. They also use Epistar chips. Even though the 2000 series does not have UV chips, they utilize the space with more LED chips.
The company's specs for light height is lower for flowering which shrinks the foot print. TSW2000 recommends a flowering foot print of 3×3. I wouldn't try and use it to flower a 4×4. Your "watts per sq ft" will drop below where we like it between 30-50 (thanks plant daddy). Even 2 TSW2000 will not cover your tent completely.
If you have the money, i think the 3000's are the way to go. Otherwise you are looking at good flowers in a 3×6 area in your 4×8 tent. You can place plants within the foot print.
Just thinking here...

Edit...just saw you said "3" 2000's. Even then...these wont effectively reach every corner of your tent.

I'm my opinion No. 8X4 = 32 sq ft. You want 30 watts per sq ft minimum 30x32= 960 watts is the minimum I would grow with if you want to use entire 8x4. If you want to grow monsters you want something closer to 1600 LED Watts. Your grow is exactly double my grow space. I'm using a light that Manufacture says it draws 450 watts.. Not so sure about that... I saw an unboxing and it only was drawing with meter 425 watts. You see my point. Minimum for my 4x4 should 480 watts... You can see by looking at my grow what slightly under power looks like. NOT too bad!!!! It really depends on what you want I suppose... I'm happy with the size quality and yield I'm gonna get. You should get 2 TS 3000's in my opinion maybe add a a 2000 watt or 1000 watt light to them.. So many different combo's If you know how many LED watt you want to run. First question you have to answer is how big do I want my buds? Second is how much yield do I want. You need somewhere in-between 950 watts and 1600 watts for 8x4. Any combination of light that fit you room best...

3000 isn't the watts... is just part of name.. their only 450 watt draws. that's what's confusing is manufactures put these numbers in there products names.. add so much confusion to new buyers...

TS3000 can cover 4x4 flower space well. I suggest you to use 2 TS3000 in 4x8

You gonna pull trigger on lights... I'm curious what you get for your tent.
