:circle-of-love: Hi morial, at vegetative stage, you need to keep the light on for 18hours or more and the plants will feel like experiencing an extended summer. They will grow stem and leaves. :cheesygrinsmiley: When they grow big enough, you need to switch to 12/12 light cycle. The increased darkness hours means autumn is coming and plants will flower.:hugs: You can only switch Veg on during seedlings and further switch on both during veg and flower.MarsII900 will do a great job in your grow.:) Enjoy the first try!:high-five:

The guys from ACE Seeds recommend the following:

"Indoors for growing small columnar plants or SOG, you should start from the clone or seed at 12/12 just a few days after the rooting. This sativa is highly recommended for SCROG, horizontal or network growing due to its excellent production of lateral branches and its vigorous reaction to pruning."

Anybody here who got some experience with the Malawi?
What do you recommend for the light periods? If you agree with the 12/12, should I switch on both, growth and bloom during the whole growth and bloom period?

I would very much appreciate your recommendations and help :)

Flat with lots of tips. Then switch to 12/12. Once in 12h day you will see preflowers soon. Watch for males and kill them quick if there are any. Then clone all the females and start again. Once first grow complete pick which plant was the best phenotype and clone it only from then on. Hope that helps 8-)

:circle-of-love: morial, the recommend hanging distance for the light ranges from 0.6m to 0.3m. You can consider about super cropping it.:Namaste: During 12/12 period, you need to switch on both for more power.:circle-of-love:

Also, during the 12/12 period, should I swich on both, the grow- and the bloom-light or only the one for bloom?

Like i said I suggest you use HST to keep plants FLAT or your yield will be poor.
A stretchy sativa can easily be kept under 1m tall this way.

Here are two of my plants back when I was not running SCROG. They are sativa dominant and no problem to keep short with HST

:circle-of-love:Hello, Engineer, MarsII900 will be short. It only covers 3.5'x3.'5. MarsII1200w will be enough for 4'x4'.:high-five:

Hi SmokeSara, I have a question regarding the first Mars Hydro cup, the prize being 5 Mars II pro epistar Leds to give away. Now I know Mars has a presence on other forums such as --------, -----, etc. and I am assuming you are running the same competition on all of them. Now my question is does each forum have its own allocation of 5 Mars pro Leds or all the forums together have to compete for 5 Leds ?
