Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

This would be Dark Dragon by Kingdom Organic Seeds, thanx for the compliments man always lots of love from the mars hydro family!

Brian, If you are going to change soil try Sanctuary Soil either the Empire Builder or if you want COCO try Big City I know they sell it in Denver and if you check their site it has everything you would add but doesn't burn.

As for the yellowing I think the plant is trying to grow faster then you are feeding it. I myself would love to see what one of the new lights would do with plants on either a DWC, or a EBB and Flow system with unlimited water and multiple daily feedings.
Thanks for the reports and keeping us up on your grow

Does anyone here have any experience with Humboldt seed co blue dream feminized seeds? I was just wondering how many weeks of flower it stretches for if anyone knows from personal experience that would be great thanks. I have 3 of them on week three of flower now and one of them is definitely a sativa dominant and stretching considerably more than the otehr 2. It is not really an issue now and i think i have enough heigh, i am just curious. Cheers :high-five::thanks:

usually by week 4 they are done and will start filling out by week 5 you should see the buds filling in..my concern is your rapidly growing one...that is usually a sign it is gonna be a Male so check it daily for the pods.. those lil buggers I swear can pop up right in front of you...
Be Well

Thank you for the reply i figured somewhere around week 4-5, and she is definitely a tall sexy lady ^.^ the buds started a little less than a week ago hairs have been growing before that

Grab some clones off the larger so if it is just special you can grow more and more. Run a google on the strain there are a lot different phenotype of the strain out there and they grow different some can be a long flower (10 - 12 weeks or more ) so be sure it has finished before cutting then Enjoy

:circle-of-love:Haha, Klovneposen, I'd love to. Could you share me the link?:cheesygrinsmiley:
:laughtwo: Thanks Sara i been working real hard the achieve being the-grumpy-old-teacher-type-guy-in-his-late-60's before i turned 30 myself

Did you BTW see my post regarding your new sidelight on your website? i posted it somewere in here but might be hard to find do to all these post during the weekend. i by acident posted in my own growjournal first. maybe i can get you to stick your head in my journal a sec and read that post in there when you have a chance it will be way easier to find in the journal only being a two side long journal not 1000000 plus posts like on the mars forum :)

:Namaste:

:circle-of-love:thank you for the advices, Randy. So far, I think our new light performs great.:high-five:They are worth a try:cheesygrinsmiley:

So, can someone confirm what the verdict is on the Old/New 300 with 5W chips? It sounds from the comments that it is a good option but may have a bit too much white light for some peoples' taste. But the diodes can be switched out to add some red in place of some white. Is there a tutorial on how to switch out the diodes? I'm handy buy electrical isn't really my thing. I've put in lights and switches in at my house before so changing a couple diodes seems like it would be simple enough. No?

This model: "Mars300 led light(60 leds *5W Chip), with around 140W actual power" is now at $80 USD on Amazon. I'm a hobbyist so my budget can't justify the New 100 3W version. But at $80 per, I could add 2 of these and get my wattage up where it needs to be with efficient low heat generating lightweight lights. Thoughts from those more versed in LED would be great! Space is 4x5 square, 6 ft. high.

Thanks folks. Great info here. I'm mostly a lurker who studies and tinkers. Thanks for all the great info.

i have a Lighthouse Hydro Blackstar UFO 135W since 2 years and that led light is completly useless .... i tried to use it in a 1.5 X 1.5 area, it suppose te be nice lightning (not full power but suppose to be not bad) but the result is very very bad ....... since i goes to mars hydro and i have very very good result. (i changed the 135W for a 180W mars hydro and the difference is amazing!)

so, please, forget about blackstar .... the spectrum is very bad (really too much red) and the power output is strange too.

go with mars hydro and you are sure to have good result. not blackstar, really not .... in my experience at least.

but the all new 300W from mars hydro is not as good as other lights ..... with the new 300W (60X5) old model panel you can cover 2.3 square foot maximum for each .... about 1.5 X 1.5 foot each ..... each consume about 130W

so my advise is .... go with mars2 series from mars hydro if your budget is normal and use 100W led watt for each square foot ..... a mars2 400W for exemple is perfect for 2X2 area (4 square foots) ... it consume about 190W of real power.

if your budget is low .... go with old model series but go for 2.3 square foot max for each 300W ..... or 4.6 square foot for the 600W

for reflector series ..... each 48X5 (240W) can cover 1.6 X 1.6 (2.6 square foot) for a single panel (little more than old model 300W)

all theses number are for flowering ... you can cover more for vegging.

happy growing.

The Mars 300w with 5w chips did my grow well. I think the light sufficed but I needed to do more on my end with training and fertilizer in the end. If you wanna know I had that and 46 extra watts of CFL and cut one plant (Sunset Sherbet) which got 45 grams flower and 30 grams trim. That as a first time grower with one of MH tent 2x2x5.9 and MH 300W plus supplemented CFL. The bud is smokable and considered top shelf by friends. When it comes down to it the light does well but the other portion is up to you to make the buds perform.

Edit*
Cut the Black Lime Reserve Sunday night and should yield more than the SS. If thats the case I should get close to 1 gram per watt with MH 300w and 46w CFL.

I just bought 2 of the "old" mars 300 140true watt panels at the recommendation of quite a few people as a good starter light. If you do decide to go that route i will tell you that they are quite a bit more affordable on the well known online auction site that starts with a vowel. Got 2 for $124 w/ free shipping. Just make sure you buy from seller mars hydro. I ordered them sunday and they are supposed to be at my house today.

I concur. You have to factor in all cost including the monthly electric bill. With the MH 300w I was paying around $1-2 a month which factors to $5-6 for harvest 1 (2-3 months of light total off two clones). I bought the light at $70 and harvested over 1oz which is along the lines of $200-300. The tent was the same price so it's paid off so far in terms of harvest. If I harvest again it will have paid for itself and more.

Thanks CH, its nice to know about what ill be paying in minthly electric bills. Way more efficient than the cfls ive been using.

It will all vary depending on your region but when it comes down to it MH is affordable and works. The second step is the grower and his conditions and expertise. Good luck to your grow and just keep learning from those here who have made it happen.

The 60x5 coverage area is only 1.5x1.5 feet. So you would need 4 of them to adequately cover a 3x3 foot area. They are great lights however. Do a nice job. But not for such a large area. You need a very high power led to cover that much are. Likely 2

Sent from my Nexus 6 using 420

I use 3 in my 2x4 space they work great just as they are and that's 52.5w psf. The only thing you may want to do in change 1 white diode to a 5w IR I'm gonna try it myself.
There on ebay for 63 bucks free shipping.
