Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

Thank you for your quick answers, Stoney and Glitch :thumb:
At first I asked for the price of the 900W light and a 3x3 tent, but they told me that this lamp is to big for this tent and I should buy the bigger one. As I don't have so much space for my indoor-experiment, I asked for the 700W light instead of the 900W with a bigger tent. OK, so I will order the 900W Mars II or maybe 4 of the old 60x5 300W Mars Hydro's, if they're really as good as the 900W Mars II? Is this alternative really equivalent?
Glitch do you mean this one when you talk about the old light on eBay?

Yes the old 60x5 Are great but they lack ir and the 900 has ir which is what helps trichomes production. But with the 4 60x5 you will have better coverage so pros and cons I have the Mars ll 1200 and a 60x5. In my area so it's whatever is best for what you are looking to accomplish now and in the future. Good luck and keep us posted

I think when they like to recommend lower wattage lights it is because they are good enough to barely cover the space, but even more light is better up to the point your plants start bleaching tips.
I have 97w/square foot and it's about perfect. Never get more than 1/8" tip bleach on very closest tops.
Had to know someone else is using mega high wattage. I'm using 80 watts a foot. Do you have to use any co2 supplementation?

After taking out my 400 Watt hps I'm at 72.5 watts a square foot. With my Mars ll 1200 and the 60x5. With the hps and 1200 I was at95.5 a square foot

No, Don't have to supplement co2
All LEDs? Curious to your setup. So far besides stoney i think we are the most wattage per square foot guys in the chat. I just don't feel 30 per is going to cut it.

I don't see how 30 Watts a square foot can do it eeither. Heck I'm having trouble seeing my 1200 doing my 3.3x3.3 area without a little help from the 60x5s. Lol my canopy is so thick and I have taken a lot out so far I hope it gets threw the canopy lol

Here is a pic from today about 7 hours after I took down the hps and put back the 60x5 with the 1200
The only corner that look nice and spread out is the back right corner my #1 that had the stretch at the beginning. These white widows have not stretched at all.

They look great! Your going to have a great yield. I'm glad some one chimed in and said more is better and no co2 supplementation isn't required.

Also I'll say this. I've only grown with cfl before. And I have had great results. And I didn't have lights all over the place just over the canopy. These LEDs are far brighter I think they are getting plenty of light through. It's just not light like we are used to seeing. It's not just white light.

And that's what is throwing us off. Cfl And hps have a lot of llight that the plant don't use which is why we see so much of it. I have my lights hanging at about 15 inches 12 just seemed to low I wasn't getting bleaching but it just didn't look like it covers good at 12 Inches but 15 seem to be a sweet spot so far. Also the last 7 days I'll be going to only 8 hours of light and then the last 3 days I will only use the bloom spectrum I wanna see if that will help with trichome production. I have heard it really helps.

P.s. I have never used co2 other then for like a week I did the yeast and sugar in a pop bottle with water.

I've used carbonated watter in a sprayer and mist the plants once a day before. But I'm going to be careful this time no bud rot please ha-ha.

high Stoney! I am using 0ne 1200 per plant( 3 square foot per plant) with two foot separation between lights. no C02. rdwc. going to add 150 watt uvb soon and maybe far red to up the "lights on" cycle to 14 hrs. the area between two

lights must be getting more watt/sq ft than the outside parameters

If you have not tried the General Hydroponics Gobox Nutes Give them a try I'm using them now and am very impressed. You will need at least double of everything in the box though so I got one Gobox then I reordered everything in it in litter containers. For a flower booster I'm using florallicious and bio bud

Looks awesome. I can't wait till March I will be getting another 1200 OR 1600. How's the penetration your canopy looks as thick as mine. I am impressed so far. With my results. I have my lights at 15 inches where are yours? I know I have asked before but so much info can't remember lol. I am trying to get real user experience. My buddy hangs is 1200 at 20 inches in flower and he gets some fat nugs. I feel 15-20 gives the light enough hight to blend and spread out a little more without loosing a lot of par
