Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

Can you pm that guide to me please Glitch?

And I also doubt the HPS has damaged your LED, Stoney. But I think it could lose some efficiency over time while pulling the same watts. Would need to have taken a baseline LUX or PAR measurement on day 1 of your LED, then again now for the difference.

:circle-of-love:Hi Stoney, 30~50 watts per sqft is enough. Anything over 50 actual watts per square foot would likely require CO2 supplementation and heat issues would need to be adequately addressed.:Namaste: You have about 80w per sqft. Hmm... it's a little overkill.:dreamy: but your temp is under control, which is a good thing. :high-five:
I have a question how much light is to much light? I'm wondering if I have over kill with the 400 watt hps and the Mars ll 1200. I am wondering if I should just put my Mars 60x5 back in and take out my hps. Heat is no problem but I'm running a 400w hps and a Mars ll 1200 in a 3.3x3.3x7 tent. Can some one with more knowledge please tell me if I have over kill lol

:) thanks for the help, Glitch. I agree.
I'm using 80 watts per square foot with no issues. I believe that anything over that co2 supplementation would be a benifit. Because there is a saturation point. Without enough co2 it won't help any past a point.

I figured it was over kill that's why I'm taking out the hps And sticking with my Mars leds

Using one of those killawatt meters. Plug your device into it and see if its still pulling advertised wattage. The design of these LEDs its unlikely. You would notice diodes out. Or extremely dim sections like the IR diodes in brightness. I found some interesting info online last night. A guide to LEDs. They recommended 50 watts a square foot or more of using middle grade LEDs like epistar. But only 30-50 for brands like cree.

Can you pm me a link to the guide as well please

:circle-of-love:Stoney, it's a very good habit to adjust according to the response of the plants.:)
To be safe I dropped it back to 300 Watts with the hps. The tip are looking crispy bbut not crispy if you know what I mean it's not on all the leafs but a few and more on the one under the hps. My Temps the past 3 days have been low 70s with lights on and about the same off because I have a space heater that goes on . But the tips do look like the have heat stress a little they are growing at a amazing rate so I'm doing something right. At least for now. Lol

:cheertwo:Happy New Year LEDCanuck!:cheertwo: Congrats on the Round Two! Super looking forward to the grow journal.:cheesygrinsmiley:
Happy New Year fellow MarsLED growers :) After a very successful 1st LED harvest, I have just germinated some seeds for round number two. I am thinking about extending my SCROG another foot or two and adding a 3rd MarsII 900, but I won't have to make a decision on that for at least a few weeks. I'll likely do a proper grow journal this time and will add some updates to this thread once things get interesting. Here's what I am growing this time:

Greenhouse Seeds - Super Lemon Haze
DNA - Chocolope
Humboldt Seeds - Blue Dream
Sweet Seeds - Jack 47 (Jack Herer x AK47)

I've grown the Jack 47 and Chocolope previously, they were both awesome and worthy of a second go-around. The SLH is one I've bene wanting to try for a while, and the Blue Dream sounds great. Looking forward to putting these lights to work again! :surf:

:circle-of-love: Hi Stoney, the coverage of MarsII1200 is 4'x4' at 24"~30". :Namaste: The lower the hanging distance is, the less the light will cover. You can raise the light up a little to cover more area.:Namaste:
So I took down the hps so I can see how well the Mars ll 1200 covers my canopy and I have to say it don't look like it covers to well. But I think that's the difference between the two is led uses more usable light then hps so it don't have to be as bright. Or am I wrong. Because I was kinds disappointed with how it appeared to not cover the Conners at all in my 3.3x3.3 tent hanging at 14 inches

:circle-of-love::laughtwo: it is so simple.

Thanks sara. I tomorrow I will raise my Mars ll 1200 to 15 inches and Re hang my 60x5 next to it. At first I was thinking I would yeilds better with the hps led combo but after seen how the girls are responding I feel that's not true and my Mars gear will be better alone . I wanna thank you Sara for being the most awesome person in customer service and in the led market.

:laughtwo:Haha, Gltich, more is better than less.
Also when I first got my mars 2 400 I though it was mega bright. Since I added. The old 60x5 with it. Can't go back to the one light. The difference in penetration and amount of light is massive. I think you have to go up a few one to 2 sizes to get the sweets spot.

:circle-of-love: you will have a good result, Stoney.:Namaste:
I'm going to put the 60x5 back in with the Mars ll 1200. I have faith that it will do more then what I need.

:circle-of-love: Thanks for the help, Glitch.:thanks:
Sara will likely have info but I believe the coverage area they advertise is at 24-36 inches. I think you and I are figuring this stuff out. Like we are beta testers haha

Stoney, you can test it with killawatt meters.:high-five:
I wonder if there is any way to test to see if my Mars led is running at full power so I can make sure I didn't damage it with the hps next to it. I don't think I didn't it never got over 80 degrees. I'm just being a ass lol

:thanks: thank you, Glitch. Maybe the reason is Cree has higher lumen output.:cheesygrinsmiley:

.arty:.arty:.arty: New Year Party. We have filmed the video.:cheertwo:
Nice to see the faces behind the names ha-ha. Hope you guys have a great 2016. On a side note is my 80 watts a square foot way to much led ha-ha? I'm in a 2x2 with the marsII 400 and the 60x5. Temps are awesome I'm not getting light burn or anything. But I don't want to kill my babies. I'm at 30 inches from the tops right now.
