Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

I know you run temps a little higher with leds (low 80s if I'm not mistaken)
Are you suggesting that higher resevoir temperatures are ok if you run led? Not sure what you mean by this. Lower temp is better and 80s is too high!

LOL quick question I'm planning on upgrading my craptastic cfl in a few weeks to a 400w mars 2 and was wondering what kind of exhaust y'all would recommend right now I have a 187m3/h winflex t100 not sure if this will be enough for the 400w. My tent is 60 x 60 x 140cm vented into another room with maybe a meter of traveling between the fan and outside pretty much straight into the air and out. Tent is located in a room with the ambient temp of about 18* constantly threw out the year.
These run quite a bit cooler than CFL's you will be fine. Just make sure you have at least 50 watts per square foot of coverage.

Howdy Mates,
I`m an Old School (400 W) grower with very limited space. My ceiling height is only 4ft tall. I normally grow 5 plants at a time and avg 10-11 zips which isn`t great, but, the ends do justify the means..
I have been reading this Forum regarding Mars LED and i`m ready to give it a shot. Whats the best way to grow? Should I buy the Mars 300W TrueWatt 140W±5% LED? Or can someone point me in the right direction. Thank You in Advance.
Use the same amount of watts in led as you would in hps and you will do fine. I would suggest the marsII series. They have a better spectrum than the older models. Also measure out your grow area and i would happily help you find the right mars light to cover it. I use one of the old ones you mentioned and a mars 2 400 watt in a 2x2 and it works great.

I'm getting ready to buy a pair of mars 300s and i just wanted to ask anyone that has experience with them how they are as far as heat. I am in a constant battle with keeping my temps under control so my reservoir temp doesn't get too high. I know you run temps a little higher with leds (low 80s if I'm not mistaken) but would i need stronger exhaust ventilation than a 6 inch 400cfm duct fan or would that be good enough. I would go with an inline fan but my girl would not be pleased with a jet turbine whining in the bedroom. She is sketchy enough about the two little pc fans that i run sometimes. lol thanks in advance for any info anyone can provide. BTW my tent is 3"x2"x5 1/2".

I have a home made enclosure 2' x 4' x 6' I use 3 of the 60x5 and exhaust with a 6" 175cfm it holds the room at 78 to 80 no problem. My room temp is 70 or so in winter and I a/c to 74 in the summer. You should be fine, by the way you will have good results with those lights.

The 300 watts only cover a 1.5x1.5 area. So 2 is 3x1.5 also they run cool.

So if I take the leaf from a bud nod or the beginning of a side branch will it continue to grow. I am always to worried to take leafs because I am worried it will stop the bud from growing there is that true

well my tent i about 2'x2'. So with the draw wattage of 177 would give me about 44.25/ sq ft which is damn close 50w. I think I'll be ok I could always get a few bits of side lighting maybe a cheap bar strip for the sides.

Not higher res temps, i meant higher room temps. My tent with cfls running is around 75°~79° and my res is a cool 65°. Right in the sweet spot, if I'm not mistaken.
Thanks for all the input. I really wish i could afford mars II series but my budget precludes that. I have found 2 of the old style mars that are in my price range so i think that will be a good starting point. I still plan on using my cfls for sidelighting. Am i correct that with leds you want to run room temps around the low 80s? Something to do with the transpiration under leds... Just something i picked up watching some youtube vids and doing some reading...

I'm using a mars 2 400 and a older 60x5 in my 2x2. Temps are in the 75-80f range with both running.

Yes optimal heat for led grows is around 80 ish degrees.

PC fans work just fine. No need for a 400 cfm fan. Unless your using a carbon scrubber.

:cheertwo: you go girls!

:thanks: Thanks for sharing this, Klovneposen, I believe you will receive a lot pm.:high-five:
hi man thanks for your interest. But nope i only keep journals on my pc. i have a tendense to forget my journals i post for some time so they get i bit abandoned so its just out of respect to people on the site i don't make journals anymore. i do make them but only on my pc but i keep a very exact journal at all times so i could post a final journal when done and complete if you like to see the results. if you PM me a short note about it i will remember to give you a poke when i put up a journal about them. i will proberly also post the sesults in here. so you could also keep an open eye in here. :D

its not auto but this is from one of the last grows had a bit of spidermites issues from my garden tomatoes and stuff but they still got pretty desent. the small one was white widow 13 inch and i got 56 dry of it big one 105 or something like that plus trim and popcorn buds.

:circle-of-love:Hi Klovneposen, this is what our engineers is doing now. They are developing it.:high-five:
Sara why don't you guys put in some wifi or blue tooth option in the new lights instead of the remote? i was just thinking about it would maybe be more reliable with n app or something like that and easier maybe to upgrade softwarewise?

:circle-of-love: thanks for the advice, Spart.:Namaste:
A humidity proof touch screen on it would be a interesting thought as well. The new vaporizers have apps with them my vaporite cosmic has one to control the temps.

:circle-of-love:Hi OttawaGreen, our Reflector series has rectangular shape.:Namaste: If we make MarsII to be rectangle, it needs to develop a new product.:high-five: We did update the hangers. Now the four hangers are in the middle of two sides.:circle-of-love:
Only things I would have liked changed on my Mars 2 is the square shape and the location of the hangars.
I would prefer a rectangle shape for the lights to match room layouts. Also would prefer the hangers were in the corners instead of the middle of each side. Not important though, just my opinion.

Ohhhh even better a humidity proof time lapse camera with a touch screen that not only controls the light but also keeps records of the grow ie. humidity/temps/ even a moisture/ph/ppm probe for the soil of the pots.

:circle-of-love:Hi Sejd, the coverage of the old model 300w is 1.5'x1.5'. I wonder whether it will do your space. In regards to the height, during veg, you can keep it at 2 feet from the canopy. I hope it will fit your ceiling height after you have added the pot and plant height.:Namaste:
