Manifolding LSD & Heavyweight Fruit Punch LED Organic

UPDATE: 14 DAYS IN FLOWER

I made my nute mix last night for tonight. My air pumps are working as good as they was. Mainly my big one. I am going to have to replace it for sure. I have alot of maintenance to do but am trying to get past XMAS. Light needs to be fixed. (Hopefully) I need to refill some nutes. Replace air pump and add another fan for my big tent for summers. Nutes went like this

3tsp BLOOM
1tsp BIG BLOOMIN GUANO
1tsp GROW
2tsp CATALYST
1tsp HI-BRIX
1/2tsp CALMAG
1tsp MICROBLAST
1/8tsp BIOZUES
1/2tsp PRO-TEKT
1/4tsp MAMMOTH P
1/2tsp TERPENEZ
1/4tsp META-K

Still bummed about my light. I am not sure how bad its going to affect my ladies. I just hope my last grows buds were airy because of the heat and not because half my blue is missing. Here are some pics from last night

I added a light. Its actually a lamp. lol. I just noticed that in the front there is a branch that has nice potential all the way down. So I figure for the last 4 weeks I will put a side light. I can always remove it If it adds too much heat or the plant doesnt like it

UPDATE: 20 DAYS IN FLOWER

Average Daytime Temp: 86F
Average Nighttime Temp: 66F
Average RH: 49
Light from Canopy: about 22"
Fan Speed: Slow-Med
In tent fan is on low

A few notes that have been left out of last few updates. I have of coarse raised my light a couple of times. Iv been trying to keep it at around 22 - 25 inches from talles plant. Iv also been doing small amounts of defoliating here and there. I give all the plants a good 20 minute look over. Just checking things. Admiring what an incredible plant they are. And when I see a big fan leaf blocking light. And there is no where to tuck it. I cut it. Iv never defoliated this much before. Iv never took this much. But I keep reading people say that when they tried it and let the light hit the buds directly. They swelled up and got real dense. Thats what Im hoping for. Now of coarse I may not get that due to missing some blue in my light. Which makes me sad every time I remember. And theres really nothing I can do. No money to buy another and cant send this one back to get fix. (even if they would. IDK they will) because I need to finish this grow out. I can tell that about 6 - 8 inches down the branch the buds are going to be alot smaller. They only have like 3 or 4 white hairs while the upper part of the branch is full of them. Anyway Now for the update.

I watered the girls last night. I took 2 gallons of water that has been bubbling to air out. I added per gallon

1/4tsp MAMMOTH P
1/2tsp CALMAG
1/2tsp PRO-TEKT

Each plant got a half gallon. Here are some pictures from about 3 nights ago.

Average Daytime Temp: 88F
Average Nighttime Temp: 66F
Lights: 1 - 3 Inches

I watered her last night. As I do every Friday. My Schedule is Sunday...BIg feed. I try and get a little run off. And mix is the thickest. Weds...Medium Feed. No Runoff. Less Nutes. Friday.. Almost pure water. With some Mammoth p and Calmag. Maybe some ProTekt.
Any way I gave her a bit less than a half gallon. WIth

1/4tsp MAMMOTH P
1/4tsp CALMAG
1/4tsp PRO-TEKT

The Cluster of buds I added that light to. Along with another cluster on another branch same level. Have more than doubled in size. Very happy with the decision to add that light. Here are some pics from a few nights ago. This is when I first added the light. So there may have been a small change but nothing like now. Ill try and get some fresh pics tonight. Until then. Here are some from a few nights ago.

Oh great budding! If you want to take off the tiniest of buds in your big tent, feel free to do it. It helps the big colas. Beautiful plants. :goodjob:  :Namaste:

UPDATE: 21 DAYS IN FLOWER

Made my nute mix last night. I made 3 gallons. It of course is bubbling now and I will use it tonight. Mix went like this per gallon.

4tsp BLOOM

2tsp CATALYST
1tsp HI-BRIX
1/2tsp PRO-TEKT
1/4tsp MAMMOTH P

Here are some pictures I took last night. As you can see. I have spread out the colas a bit more. Maybe too much. IDK. Iv never grown like this and most of the journals I have read havent been that detailed. Im sure there alot of detail Im leaving out as well. But Im trying for the most part to make this as detailed as possible. But I think alot of the little things get left out. I only say that cuz I know When I first dipped my toe into growing indoors I read a bunch of journals to get an idea of what I was in for. And for the most part they will get you thru. But theres little details that get left out. That when a person first starts, they dont know. Like if your using a clip fan. and you turn your exhaust fan on hi. It sucks the tent walls in, and moves the clip fan. Knocking it off, onto your plants, 30 or 40 percent of the time. Unless you zip tie it or something. Little details that a person can grow without. But will drive them crazy. LOL ANYWAY on to the girls. The 2 LSD ladies have a very distinct smell. I cant put my finger on it. I never was great at describing taste and smell. But it is FUNKY. Like soured poison or something. I cant WAIT!!!

Beautiful photos, getting frosty in the LED tent! Have you heard about backbuilding? It can increase you yield by up to 15%. LA's Quick Guide To Simple Backbuilding Technique For Buds!

Keep it up! :Namaste:

Iv heard and read up on it. I actually have that tab open right now. LOL Been open for a couple weeks now. I have never tried it tho. I wonder if it would be useful for plants 8 weeks in that have foxtails. I wonder if it would do the same if I cut off the fox tail? Or if its already too late in flower to see any benefits?

It is late for the smaller tent but I think you can apply it to the LED tent. Heck I did backbuilt mine which was almost done :D You snip off just a tiny tiny bud. No big deal. Good luck with your girls, looking great. And yes that could be N deficiency but I'm not 100% sure. :Namaste:

UPDATE: 26 DAYS IN FLOWER

I watered them last night with 2 gallons of water. About a half gallon a piece. Each gallon contained

1/4tsp MAMMOTH P
1/2tsp CALMAG
1/2tsp TERPENEZ
1/4tsp PROTEKT

I Just realized my error. All day yesterday felt like Friday. So last night I thought it was friday. I was just writing that I will make my nutes for tomorrow tonight. Then realized. Hey...Its Friday. I dont need to make nutes till morro. UH OH. That means I watered my girls a day early. I watered them 2 days in a row. Luckily. They didnt get alot Weds. Just a half gallon. Which is what they got yesterday. I was wondering why I got runoff with just a half gallon. Anyway. I think it will be alright.

DC UPDATE: 47 DAYS IN FLOWER

She is still foxtailing. I want to cut them off for some reason. But wont. Anyway. Same as with the other girls. I watered her last night thinking it was Friday. mix went like this for a half gallon.

1tsp HI-BRIX

1tsp MICROBLAST

I gave them a tsp of grow to hopefully slow the N def. My gut says I should have prolly went 2tsps but I dont want to over do it. And Im still a noob so Im still trying to learn how to listen to the plant. Tiz why I gave them 2 tsp of Big bloomin guano. It is P only and my stems are a little red. So Im trying to get them a little more P.
..Im trying to control the temps the best I can. I would like to just keep it at around 78F but I dont really have that much control. I have 2 little space heaters in my grow room. So when lights are out. Temps go down about 20 degrees. So if I get it to where it stays at 78F during lights on. Then lights out will be about 58F. TOO COLD. So this is prolly the best I will be able to get it. But I am trying for 85F -- 65F.
..Thats about it for now I guess. Just waiting for them to fill out. (hopefully)

Very Dry in there. I think tiz why I am getting Fox tails. I KNow its good to have low RH at the end of flower. But This is most common in this tent. I guess its better than it being too high. I have a humidifier but I dont think I will use it. I made nutes last night and will feed tonight. I made a half gallon.

I cut back on the Bloom. I regretted it later after it was made. I had already cut out the big bloomin guano. I think I should have stayed with 2 tsp of bloom. Oh well. Live and learn. Who knows. Maybe my first thought was right. Maybe thats plenty. Anyway. Not much else to say I dont guess.

I am saving up for another light. Iv been doing research but there is so many out there. And most are SO HIGH. But I guess Im willing to pay the extra scratch if it means better light quality. Both in terms of actual light output and light reliability. Plus Warranty quality. Not just years covered. Thats where they get you. For those who dont know. Read up on the warranty policy on some of these popular lights. After the first year. They really dont have a warranty. Dont get me wrong. They will send you free parts if you can solder and fix yourself. Parts being anywhere from 6 cents to 35 dollars. (Not costly anyway) BUT IF YOU CANT FIX IT YOURSELF!!! Then YOU have to pay to ship the light there, pay for labor, then pay for shipping back. So your looking at about $100 to get your light, THAT IS ON "WARRANTY" fixed. BUt dont worry..LOL they will provide the parts for FREE!! so if you have 6 leds go out. Dont worry. Your warranty will pay for 36 cents. Sheeww thats a load off my mind.
So sorry to spu my rant on here. But people need to know. I wish I have 1000 people following this journal so I can warn people that dont know. Warranty means nothing on some of these lights.
Now having said all that. It is nice i guess to be able to send your light in for repair. I dont know if you can if its past the "warranty" I would hope so seeing how they arent losing anything.

Anyway. Like I said. I am saving for a new light. So when one goes out I have a backup. Any suggestions would be great.

What is your budget and how skilled/knowledgeable are you about simple electrical wiring? I can work with that and point you some good solutions out. Cheers! :Namaste:

My budget is around $800-$1000 if need be. I will just save for a couple months. That is if its worth it and not complete overkill. I want some overkill but not alot. Remember my tent is only 3.3x3.3x5.11"
..As far as electrical wiring Idk. I like to think I have basic skills. I can install car stereos with amps and what not. I added a couple plug outlets in my building where there used to be a light. I have changed many of outlets and ceiling fans and lights. But never soldered anything (yet. plan to learn) and never been trained or schooled in any kind of electrical work.
I also dont know alot about setting my own lighting scale. Iv read alot on it but nothing has ever stuck. All I know is blue for veg and red for flower and other colors for support. Or something like that. lol . A dumb way to put It i know. Anyway. I dont really need any fancy remotes or anything. Just want as strong as light as I can get with as little heat output as possible. WIth as good as warranty as can be had. lol i know. Im not asking for much. I want something with penetration. I was looking at a cali solar flare. It was like 450w with 2 10" long UVB bulbs. said 3w chips but was upgraded in 2014 to 5w chips. But it say it only covers 3x3. even tho some review said they was using it in a 4x4. I know Im only 3 inches past 3 feet but still would like to have something that covers 4x4. but I can settle for a 3x3 if its worth it and "THE ONE" :) Thank you so much for helping and giving me your time. May good karma follow you. :Namaste:

Super! Thank you. I see you are somewhat skillful in basic around house work. Note that when you overkill your light you can bleach your plants. Or you do not bleach them but there is a limit when you run to lack of CO2 problem. So keeping it real- 450W is gonna make wonders in your tent. For penetration which is a bogus term as the light doesn't penetrate the leaves. Note that in order to get 'penetration' you need multiple sources of light to get rid of shades under your leaves (defoil is good way too).

I can show you one way to make your lights with the newest technology and talking about this limit. Ppl got 1,8g per watt with some of those lights. I will show you some tutorials that can shine some light on the matter :) Those are longer but well made and informative for anybody who wants to rock their own lights. I mean I have 5 year warranty on my fans and drivers I'm gonna use. The LEDs I will get are top notch made in Japan, so I trust them. And for cooling a heatsink and that is not gonna bust on you. I think if I'm lucky I will get 120000 hours from my light.

There is also a company called Spektrum King, that makes 450W light in USA. Also Perfect Sun light representative is posting here on 420Mag. I dunno about their warranty tactics, but those are one of the best.

Here is one that you can utilize which even talks about the limit I talked earlier. It is a design for 4x4 and I think it can be utilized in 3x3 in some ways. I like how he added a separate UVB light there. He talks about far red which is to stimulate sunrise and sunset. That is harder to do without a good timer, that can switch the red light on for 10-15 minutes after the big one stops without a gap.

Giveaway light build part 1: diy led growlight design - YouTube

There is a full tutorial (long) series about lights in general. Very throughout.

He is using CREE CXB 3590 but there are better LEDs now. Those are CLU058 1825.

My parts list for great penetration 450W+ 15W UVB light:
9x CLU058 1825 80CRI 3500K with holders- 450 or less, I did find ones for 36 a piece without holder
3x Driver HLG-150H-54B- 180
Heatsinks- passive 3x 36'' x 5.886" wide- 200
Heatsinks- active 9x Arctic Cooling Alpine 64 Plus- 180 This will also blow down on your plants, providing more air circulation. Really expensive I can get them for 11 each. Or some similar cheaper coolers, also if you watch the tutorials he explains cooling which is the most difficult part.
Frame- some L aluminium- 50? Or even wood, no way it can catch fire from aluminium heatsink.
Uvb light- 30 for 18'' T8 + holder 20
Fuses? For parallel connection?
Wiring?
Frame? ?- This all can add up to 70
Solder?
Tape?
Thermal paste?

Work- drilling, soldering, tapping holes.

Note I did made a strong light here and I used high prices. I hope this demonstrates my view on the matter and general technology behind any light. This light will be very strong and my guess is 20 ounces+ on each harvest. It is basic idea and not polished. The spacing needs work. It can be done in 400W for even cheaper with 8 COBs.
Cheers and have fun choosing your light. I'm configuring mine as well. Cheers! :Namaste:

Thank you for all that info. I will watch those vids when I get time and see if making my own is in the realm of possibilities. And as far as light penetration. I know light doesnt go thru leaves. What I mean why I say it, Is good usable light making it to the bottom of the branches. Given you have given it a clear path. And not just actual light. Good usable light. Right now. My current light doesnt seem to want to do much past 6 - 8 inches. It will of course produce buds past that point. But they are much smaller and airier. I would like a light that will make good hard 10 - 12 inch long colas. Of course. This is the first time I have done this method of growing. Which the whole point behind is to end up with long colas. So I will surely see for sure after this grow. Anyway. Thanks again for the words. And if you come across any more lights that you know are good. Please let me know. :)

Hello so I did also find this.

QB304 Quantum Board – Photon Labs LLC

Those are 3000K LEDs. It is like if Mars used the best LEDs on the market right now. But no UVB. Four of those boards with 2 HLG-240H-C2100 drivers should replace 800W HPS bulb. But I'm not sure about shipping costs. And you will need to buy a heatsink for each board, they have them for sale. And a fan or two for each board. All in all this will give you the best penetration because it has so many sources of lights. Power: 500W/4= 125W per board and 160lm/W that is very good efficiency. But with white LEDs you need uvb bulbs/tubes for the best results. Cheers! :Namaste:
