Maine 4-Season Greenhouse Grow

Good information thanks. Ill become a plant this weekend - ill sit in a big pot, people can pour water on me and feed me.
Sounds like an ideal weekend...:)

Just checked again and we are escaping that heat wave....high of 80F and nights @ 60F...

I gotta ask Van, what's the purpose for the water bottles attached to the tent supports? I don't see a cap on it and you have the bottom's cut. Fascinating.
Those were where I watered from. I cut the bottom off the bottle, drilled a 1/4" hole in the cap, inserted a 1/4" drip line and siliconed it up and ran it down to the plant where I ran two rings of soaker hose. The reason for this was that I was growing under a full SCROG and with my bad back I couldn't water the plants.

So with those bottles and soaker hose, I would fill all 5 water bottles up for the 5 plants and walk away. 5 to 10 minutes later, I swing through the grow room and fill it it up again. 4 fills equals a gallon (roughly) and takes less than 30 minutes to water all 5 plants without bending over once. Simple DIY watering system.

Amazing, The Van Stank Acme Watering Company...brilliant. :welldone:

I am all about making things as easy as possible in the cheapest possible way.

Only issue with my system is its not automated. I am hoping to rectify that issue in the next month or so.

good deal. I had to re read your description. It sounds like a great diy. I did a blu mat with a bottle like that, 1/4 in hole in the cap and a line to the blu mat, I like to use gravity when i can. i dig the 5 bottle to soaker. good luck going auto, that will rock.

@Van Stank, I'm envisioning a custom grow space with raised pedestals for pots where you don't have to crouch/bend...what if your tents were on 2' raised footings/benches? Kind of like raised beds, but indoor. I sit on an upside down 5-gallon in the GH to get low...you could mimic that indoors, maybe even in a reg chair....

sitting on the floor no problem, it is the getting back up from the floor, yah big probs.

Yes, isn't it interesting how we adapt as we get older?? I am always rolling over on all fours to get up from a sitting position...when I am lifting I am fully aware (knees bent...nice and slow)...I don't even realize I am grunting and groaning...people ask me "you ok" and I say "fine...just reminding myself of the effort!"

I just did a little Google (images) search for "elevated garden beds"...there are some seriously cool ideas there...simplest I saw was 3-4 pallets stacked and they built the bed right on it...could easily do that with your 4x4 tent. That, or one pallet and cinder blocks underneath.

If I had the height to do it.....I would be all for it. I think I would need a much higher ceiling.

Now when we get settled into a place where I can run my Hydrohut Silver Edition tent (10'x10'x 7'), I intend on making tiered areas for different plants so I don't have to bend over for most. Man I can't wait to grow in 100 square foot area instead of 16 square feet! Then I could really grow some monster indoor plants!

Well, whatever space is above your current tent you could add below it....some plywood and cinder blocks maybe...

A 10x10 tent...in my house they call that a room...

I got a little camping stool works for now and storage is easy.
but raising the grow, that is interesting.
I tend to have 5 gallon buckets in the areas I tinker around in just to use as stools. Helps but doesn't solve the whole issue. But better than bending over!

I have maybe 6" above my tent but can't really do anything due to a ceiling fan. So its stuck where it is for now. Not much I can do with that 4x4 tent in the spare room with the bed in it LOL.

Honestly I don't spend much time at all in the flower tent. When the plants go in there, most of my work is all done other than a defoliation after about 3 weeks and watering them. Most of my tinkering is in the veg area. I have some thoughts in my head of grow shelves that I can pull out that will raise up.

My dad is a former NASA engineer and can build anything. He is coming out in a couple weeks and I am going to run my ideas by him and see what he can come up with for a plan. Essentially when I pull the shelf out....I will either raise it or lower it (my idea has two levels.....so the top level would come up, then out, and then down to about waist level. For the bottom level, it would come out and then up to about waist level. When I get done watering and training, I just drop it right back down under its lights.
