Magnus8's Canna Cream, Body Butter & Canna Lotion Study Hall

:thanks::thanks::thanks: Magnus thank you for all the knowledge and energy you given to this thread. I'm loving it, I'm a slow reader especially if Scorpio420 read this in a morning. It's taken me days. to catch up. I'll be making up something soon. Ive picked up some pumpkin seed oil (you have spoken so highly of it), shea butter, Mango butter, and I have coming Manuka oil, Manuka honey, and emu oil.
What essential oils would be good for this? I am trying to emulate a honey healing balm that I purchased from a Med dispensary many moons ago, it ony says "theraputic essential oils"and it has coconut oil in it so given your take on CO, I thought I would try pumpkin seed oil.:Namaste:

Yes it was a LONNGGGG read but well worth It

Now Im speaking for me, but I got a few Essentials and used em all. They all have unique traits and all sounded very very good to me

Tree Tea Oil
Peppermint Oil
Lavender Oil
Vitamin E

I was gunna do a Cayenne also, but, Figured id rub it someplace I shouldn't :rofl::rofl:

Also if ya like the smell of Chocolate, get some Cocoa Butter... mixed with the Peppermint Oil it smells HEAVENLY... Like a peppermint patty  and its a good thickener if ya need it.

What I did was experiment without the Canna Oil at First. Found a mix and consistency I liked, as well as aroma and Oils, ended up adding em all... Then I melted some down again and added the Canna Oil

Good Luck and enjoy playing in oils:thumb::high-five:

Hi there,

I am new to this site, and new to growing. I am excited to try making salve. I presently make body butter and pain rubs using essential oils, butters, and infused oils (I infuse my own with botanicals and various oils) but have not had product to try infusing MM. I now have my Medical Marijuana license and soon I will have product. Thank you for the method and recipe. I look forward to trying it. :thanks:

Thank you, I didn't have a clue what that DMSO meant. At least now I can google it. I am new to growing and new to this kind of forum so it will take me awhile to figure out how to access the posts etc. I only use natural ingredients in my butters and salves so it doesn't sound like something I need to pay attention to.

Sandjack,
If you find your way back, and I hope you do, welcome to :420:

May you find the help you are looking for in benefitting from Medical Marijuana and Canadian Laws

Dear friends

Getting a little worried about Magnus8 as he's not updating his threads anymore. Are any of you in contact with him?

Hey DeVille,

Magnus8 is fine, I just got off the phone with him.

He is having computer problems ("it is a piece of..."). This is probably going to continue for awhile. The screen is really hard to read and he needs to use it for his writing. By the time he is finished he is bug eyed and just wants to turn it off.

He is well and told me to say "Hi" for him.

Peace. :peace:

Glad to hear he is well! Wanting to turn the screen off to rest the eyes is perfectly understandable.

Thanks for the update, FP!

Hey gang! I'm hoping you can help with a question regarding ratio of THC/oil. I searched the thread and found what a few people are doing but no hard and fast recommendations.

I took 12 ounces of fractionated coconut oil and infused it with 51 grams of ground and decarbed bud. At a rough estimate of 10% THC, that gave me 5100 mg THC in 355 ml of oil, or 14.4 mg/ml. Is that incredibly high for a massage oil/cream? I have some grape seed oil I can cut it with if someone can give me a target number. This will be used for arthritis, inflammation, and general massage use.

I plan on adding a bit of beeswax as a stiffener.

Any thoughts on the best THC/oil ratio would be greatly appreciated!

Ya seems like a potent oil for sure

Think I did like 5gr in 1/2cup of grape seed oil

Maybe take half for oral use, then the other half dbl the oil for yer cream

Thanks Scorpio! Yours is about 4.2mg/ml (at 10% THC) and mine is 3x that. Should I cut mine in half at least? It's just going to be used externally.
Maybe use some as is, and try it

Thicken up like 4oz..... And see how it feels

Are u using any essential oils in it? Those can help a lot
Good info here on some. I used a few plus vitA, and cocoa butter is a great thickener, and smells great

I'm going to thicken it up with a bit of beeswax but I doubt that any essential oils can manage to cut through the smell of toasted dope that takes over the kitchen the second I open the jar! If I cut it in half with grapeseed oil that would lessen the smell by half as well, and maybe then you'd get a hint of lavender!

I can't remember anyone on here using that much bud/oil ratio (and I'm sure no commercial rub uses that much) so I think I'm safe diluting it some, just not sure how much. I had a lot of botrytis bud that I found a way to use safely. If anyone is interested in the technique, I blogged it here. No need to waste all those botrytis buds when it can be used for lotions and creams!

I used peppermint oil and cocoa butter, smelled divine...no weed smell at all, yers is a bit stronger...lol...but you'd be surprised

Good luck, Lemmy know how it works for ya

While I'm thinking about it, I know that Magnus recommends 5-8% beeswax when used as a thickener. My oil is in liquid ounces, so that means I need to melt the beeswax first so I'm dealing in liquid ounces there as well? Because beeswax comes measured in weight ounces.

8 ounces of oil + 5% beeswax is 0.4 ounces. That's liquid ounces, yes?

Yer over thinking it...lol

Weigh out an ounce of beezwax, add that to the oil....all heated or melted together
Test the consistency, of course it will thicken when cooled
Let it cool, if it's too thin , melt more wax, heat the mixture, add and repeat

Note how much u end up using so you have a starting point next time

Worst case, if it gets too thick, you can add in a bit of oil
