Weekly Temperatures

The environment is staying almost perfect for these ladies. I love the 10f swing in temperatures from day to night, and will try to increase that further into flower if I can. It's staying plenty dry for these ladies going into late flower. I dropped the humidity down another 2% this week, and I'll go down into the 40's in a couple of weeks.

Yesterday was res-change day.

I forgot to put 20g of water out overnight to warm up this time but it didn't make a big difference. I completely drained the entire system, even using the hose to rinse off the roots. While it was empty I took the opportunity to get a root shot (this one kind of looks like porn) :

Then I pre-mixed the nutes in a 20g pot.

The I filled the system from the pot + the hose (carbon-filtered well water with food-safe hose). I actually ended up about 2-3g too high. I went a little too fast and didn't give time for the system to equalize. I've over-filled them a couple times recently and it hasn't caused any issues.

Last time I did a res change it took a day or two for them to start drinking again. It looks like the same thing this time. If you look at the humidity in the temperature pic above you'll see that the humidity hasn't come back since yesterday. That's a sign that they aren't respiring as much. I planned to give them a day or two to get used to the new res and start drinking again.

Then again, I wasn't expecting 100% AN feeding to get into the 1700ppm range  I may need to drain some nutes and replace with water. They already had some tip burn and I'm afraid 3.4EC is a bit too strong. I'll see how they do today, and I may end up diluting the res tonight.

The middle of the tent is getting dense again but this time it's bud instead of leaves. The frost is coating everything and they smell wonderful. This time I'm in no hurry to get these ladies out of there and can give them all the time they need to bulk up. The breeder says 55-60 days so I should be about half way through flower. Still another month for these ladies under the @VIVOSUN VSF6450 to get thicker and frostier!

Thank you all for the well wishes for me and my wife, we had a fantastic time at the beach this weekend. We even met up with the kids and gorged ourselves on all-you-can-eat crab legs! The beach was a fantastic get-away, but it's nice to be back home. The 'skunk eating oranges' aroma was a great welcome home, too ;)

I wonder why it takes a couple of days to rev them up after a change?
I'd love the answer to that. My best guess is the water temperature. The res is usually around 73f, and yesterday after filling it was 63f. That's a big temperature difference for the roots. I checked them this morning and it's back to 72f so that should no longer be an issue.

There's a thought. Mine was, and I have never grown in water, that ph was low to start and hitting a sweet spot on the way up over time. I like your scenario more than mine.

It could be pH. The AN nutrients naturally buffer to about 6.1 in my well water. In veg, I'll add pH down to get it down to 5.8, because pH tends to rise during veg anyways.

In flower, pH tends to fall, and the res has been below 6.0 for the past couple of weeks. For this res change, I didn't add any pH down, preferring to keep the pH in the 6.1 range for now. I want to make sure they have a chance at this higher range for cal & mag before dropping them back down below 6.0.

Since this happened last time, I'm not too worried about it. The AN pH Perfect should work at any range (or so they say). At this point I'm just keeping an eye on them to see how they react.

Such a lovely bunch you have there BudMan!

The pic looking up through the canopy is fantastic, like being deep in a weed jungle! :Rasta:

Thanks GDB. I also like that angle because it shows how much airflow I'm getting to the canopy and how dense the canopy is getting.

Quite interesting how you have that fan on the buckets facing upwards. I may give that a go today. Mines just in the corner now.

Thanks Captain
Looking super frosty in there bruva  always a pleasure reading your updates :circle-of-love:
Thanks Gandalf

In veg it works really well on the floor. In flower it was just blowing on stalks. Now it provides a steady airflow through most of the canopy, merging the top and bottom of the tent. I also have a 12" floor fan in there (on the floor, right side) blowing up diagonally.

Thanks @Bill284 I'm a big fan of @VIVOSUN as well. I started growing with a Vivosun 4x4 tent package with the VS4000 and used it for my first three grows. This grow I upgraded the light to the VSF6450, which really fills the 4x4 tent wall-to-wall. I don't have the Vivosun Smart Grow System in this tent... yet;)

Funny enough, I'm usually checking the Vivosun App and my cameras as I'm brewing my coffee 1st thing in the morning. Gotta make sure everyone had a good night's sleep :)
