LKABudMan's Orange Grove - 4 Mimosa x Orange Punch In RDWC - Sponsored By VIVOSUN

Did you honestly not expect them to stretch.
Did you get those new non stretch genetics?
Great canopy Amigo :bravo:
It's going to be bananas in there when you have buds.
Hope your having a good day. :ciao:

Sometimes they don't do what I expect.:cheesygrinsmiley:

Everything looks on point BudMan! What you do is quite impressive. :)
Such potential in there BudMan!
Canopy of green dreams right there!
Thanks. It's a canopy of green, but with lots of purple dreams ;)
They look impressive. I am getting more stretch than I expected too with Headroom Incident. So far the foliage is not too thick up high on the stalks so light is getting through. I remove leaves to let light get lower on the stalks. I've grown so thick before that i only got decent buds at the very top. I want them from the screen to the tip top.
I'm trying to limit the number of budsites on this grow and make sure every budsite has enough room. I love how you fill your net, though, and am thinking of copying it for my next grow.

Looking boooooshy. Gonna need a machete to get to the buds.
I think the machete is coming out tonight. I've let them get too bushy and am having problems controlling the humidity. There is no way I can wait until the third week of flower. I'll focus on removing any leaves that are stacked on top of each other, working from the bottom up.

Thanks Bill. I expected them to stretch, I guess I just wasn't thinking of how much they would grow in transition. In hindsight I should have flipped a week earlier. Oh well, next time. Luckily I think I still have enough room, and I would LOVE to see that tent FULL of buds ;)

Have a great Friday everyone!

My dehumidifier is acting up again and I still haven't done anything about it. It was working fine for more than a week, then started shutting down again this week. I'm checking it a couple of times a day and manually empty it when it shuts down. For the most part I'm keeping the basement RH in the 40s, which allows me to keep the tent RH below 60. These ladies are so bushy, though, that it's hard to get the humidity much lower. Also, the exhaust controller is reading 3 degrees higher in temperature and 3% lower in RH, and I'm not sure which to believe. I guess I need to go clean them both and see if it helps.

Friday night I decided it was time to clean up the plants. I wanted to wait until they were done stretching, but they were getting way too bushy underneath. Also, for a no-larf grow there was a lot of branches that needed to go. I could have taken 50 clones if I wanted, but it all ended up in the compost pile. It really is amazing how much I've taken off these plants so far.

For the rest of the weekend I mostly let them rest... and stretch. I raised the top net (and the back rack) a couple of inches because the plants were growing into the fans, and I may have to raise them again. The light is almost at the top of the tent, and they're about 15" away. I can raise the light a couple more inches, even mounting it on the top bar. In full flower, the light can be 12" away. So I still have a few inches to spare, but not much. If they keep stretching the way they are, some supercropping will be in order. At the very least, I'm not worried about stunting them by taking a few leaves ;)

I added the Big Bud and the rest of the Bud Candy yesterday. That bought the PPMs up around 1400. I added the rest of the B-52 I had today, about 150ml. I know I'm pushing them a little, but I want to see how they respond. If the PPMs rise as they drink, I'll add plain water. If the PPMs go below 1400, I'll add full-strength nutes. Of course I'll also be watching to see how the plants respond and change the 1400 target accordingly.

The canopy is still not as even or evenly spaced out as I would like. The left side finally caught up to the right side so the light is now level. The back-left plant (Gene) is still behind the rest, but there's not much I can do about that. It's not like I can raise one up ;) I'm still lightly LSTing the buds, but I'm also being careful not to touch them too much. I'm also going to continue to clean them up throughout the stretch. I'll remove a little each day until they are all cleaned up.

Have a fantastic week and Happy Growing!

I see this post. A perfectly planned grow. Full of organization, uniformity, and repeatability... as I eyeball-pour random amounts of assorted nutrients in a dirty gallon-jug.

Beautiful!
Thanks Tim.
Absolutely fantastic job, very healthy plants bro.
Thanks GG they're very healthy... and stretching!
Blooming heck growmie! Amazing growth and the amount of info you give is something I shall strive for in future :high-five: keep it up :green_heart: :passitleft:
Thanks Gandalf the details are what keep me organized and on top of it
I love seeing their legs.

Great job jingo.
Thanks Trala those legs keep getting longer and longer too ;)

Hey Rhino, there's something to be said for being able to grow by instinct as well. Oh, and I'll be posting soon about how my 'perfectly planned' grow has not exactly turned out as planned. Not that I'm complaining :)

Thanks Bill I'm doing great. We've been having some beautiful weather lately and I've been able to take advantage of it. Hope your doing well and haven't lost Howie yet in that greenhouse :)
just freaking wow. SO much next level and beyond type stuff going on in your grow!
Thanks ANPF.
Amazing BudMan! :bravo:

At first glance, it may be hard to see how much these ladies are stretching. That's because I keep moving the rack in the back of the tent higher because the plants keep growing into the fans. Look at the zipper on the right side of the pictures. That is the TOP zipper on that side of the tent. It's getting hard to stick your head in that opening, or to get into the tent at all. This grow I vegged for 7 weeks (49 days). Next time I'll shoot for 5 weeks (35 days).

These ladies are putting on an inch per day. I've started pinching the tallest buds to try to slow them down. I find a spot about 6" from the top of the bud, and I crush the stem in a 1-2" spot. These stems are huge and hollow, so they crush pretty easily. It should cause the plant to repair the stem, slowing down that stem for a little bit.

They are still 14" away from the light, and the light can go up 4-6" if I remove the hanger cords. After that I'm out of room. Let's hope they are almost done stretching ;) If they don't outgrow the tent, these are going to be HUGE buds!

I am starting to see a little bit of tip burn, which tells me I have the nutes dialed in. I'm going to try to keep the res PPM @ 1400 for now and see how they handle it. So far, so good.

I've been mixing up 20 gallons of nutes in my kettle and bubbling them until they need to be added to the res. For the second time, I had to dump them. They smelled really bad. I'm not sure why the same nutes work in the res but not bubbling in a bucket, but I'm not going to try to keep mixing up a large batch. I don't have that many nutes to dump :) Luckily, to keep the res at 1400, I'll be adding water as often as nutes.

The exhaust fan has really been struggling to get RH under 60% during the day. That works fine for now, but once I have buds in there I need to get at least 10% lower than that. I can think of several reasons why I'm having problems with humidity:
- Too much foliage. I'm still getting rid of leaves under the canopy, and I'll strip them good after the stretch. Fewer leaves = Less transpiration.
- Intake vents are dirty. I vacuumed them a week or so ago, but they are really caked. I may need to take them off and wash them out.
- Exhaust filter is dirty. I'm pretty sure the carbon filter needs to be cleaned or replaced.
- Too little airflow on the canopy. My oscillating tower fan is blowing on stalks down there. I need to mount it on the top of the tent to get better airflow to the canopy.

Sounds like I have some work to do this weekend. Right now the biggest problem is the difference in PPFD from the center of the tent to the edges. You can already see the difference in the size of the buds in the corners and edges. I really need a light that will fill the entire tent... coming soon?

Better throw a lasso on them heifers if you're gonna hold em down! They're growing like wildfire. Can't wait to see those girls stack on a set of double Ds.
My humidity is in the 70s and upper 60s too. Can't get it any lower. Praying my buds don't get Moldy! Shit is stressful. :lot-o-toke:

Hey Rhino, I'm not ready to start bending down buds yet. I still have 4-6 inches to go, and I'm going to use it all! I'm hoping that they're almost done stretching🤷‍♂️

I cleaned up the tent intake filters, turned up the intake fan, removed (for now, until I can clean it) the exhaust filter, and set the dehumidifier in the room to 35%. The tent RH is down in the 50s now :)

Lots of updates since the last post.

8/24 (Wed) - I worked on reducing humidity in the tent. It's been above 60%, and I need to get it lower in flower.
- Turned the room dehumidifier down from 40% to 35%.
- Removed the exhaust filter. It's really dirty. I'll clean and re-install it this weekend.
- Replaced the intake filter. The old one was pretty caked-on dirty.
- At this point I realized that the intake fan was only at about 30%... I thought it was on high. Could this have been the problem all along?

Either way it appears the humidity problem is fixed, as long as the dehumidifier stays on (that's another problem). Not only is the humidity lower in the tent, the temperature is now higher, because the exhaust doesn't need to work as hard. Of course, higher temperature for me means temps in the upper 70s so I'll take it ;)

8/25 (Thu) - Everyone grew another inch last night. Instead of oranges they're starting to smell like when you leave orange juice out for a while; kind of orange-skunk. Very interesting!
- All of the top buds got a pinch and wiggle this morning to try to slow them down.
- I raised my light by the last 1" that the hangers allow, to 14" above the top bud. To go any further I need to switch out the cord hangers with carbiners, or hang directly on the bar.
- I also raised the back rack up a few more inches and adjusted all of the fans.
- The tower fan is now horizontal across the middle blowing up, along with the floor fan. This should keep plenty of airflow through the canopy.
- Dehumidifier kicked off for about 4 hours, from 12p-4p. Manually reset.

8/26 (Fri) - It looks like they grew about 1/2 inch, so they may be slowing down?
- I pinched and bent the tallest buds over to give me a little more room and some consistency on the canopy. I'm being really careful not to touch the new buds.
- Dehumidifier kicked off at 11:30pm, reset at 6am.

Not much room to get in the tent from the sides anymore. Today I had to get in the side to bend the top buds over and felt like a puppet master, with my elbows up as high as possible to keep them off the buds ;)

I hate that I'm running out of room because they look so good stretching. If they stretch too far, plan A is to lean the tallest buds over to the side. There's about 16" from the first net to the second, so there is quite a bit of play in the stems. I think I can get 6" by leaning the buds over, and also get a more even canopy. The downside is that I will probably touch the buds more than I want. We'll see if it comes to that.

For now I'm just adding water to the res (with pH down). Adding the Big Bud spiked the res up over 1500ppm (3 ec) and I'm trying to get it back down to 1400ppm (2.8 ec). The plants are doing great with it, though. As soon as I see it get below 1400ppm I'll start adding nutes.

I'll probably remove more undergrowth this weekend. Any buds that have no chance at making the canopy will be cut. I'm also trying to thin out the middle to make sure I have good airflow. And of course, I'll keep bending and pinching buds as needed.

I also have some work to do this weekend to the tent. I need to solve the problem with the dehumidifier, putting it up higher so it can drain into the 'sink'. I need to clean and re-install the exhaust filter. I may even have some other new equipment to install... but more about that later.

They are looking amazing! I'm loving those pictures that show the canopy and underside of your light....so pretty. Hopefully they dint stretch too much, looks like you're running out of headroom.

It looks like you did a perfect trim job with good light penetration. Awesome 👌

Beautiful budman, sorry I fell behind but I'm all caught up now.... And FYI I spared your inbox 😂 so I mentally liked all your post.

And nice thinning/lollipopping sir.

Thanks @Timhomegrow they're still stretching right now. I'm hoping they stop soon, and I'm also hoping they don't!

I'm hacking these plants up good. Going into this grow with the mindset of 'no larf' makes it easier to remove stuff. I couldn't imagine removing this much on my first grow :)

It's not easy to hack them, always regret not doing more trimming. Glad to see one of us got over that fear haha
