It's been 4 days since Pebbles went into the SIP pot and two days since she was topped. I've kept a little bit of water in the bottom of the SIP pot at all times. In those four days she hasn't grown much. Height and width are still pretty much the same. If I didn't know any better I'd think she stopped growing.

However, I know she's growing. A large part of that has to be in the root zone, trying to reach the bottom of her new pot. I still expect a growth spurt any day as soon as that happens.

If you know where to look you can see her growth. Since she was topped, her growth hormones are now going to the lower growing tips. And I can see these tips growing daily. Pebbles may not be getting wider or taller, but she sure is getting bushier. Instead of the one stem getting bigger daily, now there are 8 of them.

I'm giving the nodes a couple of days to grow long enough, then I'll start LST. The good news is everything still looks like veg growth for now. Three weeks in and I know she can start flowering at any time. I'm hoping to get a chance to spread her out before that happens.

Be careful if you don't have a lot of room. I'm going to have a hard time with just 3 in a 4x8. They won't stop growing & they keep hitting the lights. I have to raise my lights every 2 days.
Thanks for the heads up Buds. Right now she's still stuck at 5x11, I'm ready for to see this growth!

She has the 32x32x60 tent all to herself. I'll train her out horizontally until she fills the space. After that she goes vertical, and I'll supercrop if needed.

Can we see some full side shots, to get an idea of available space for the whole tent?

I've got a 39x39x71 inch tent coming soon that I'm going to put at least one of the lights, 6in. aerovesh, and Smart Grow system into. I'm hoping there's another contest where one could win the light soon because I'm soooo dying to daisy chain two of them together. Or a coupon that gets a second light within my affordability range.

I'm really in love with it though and digging the @VIVOSUN support, too.

Thanks for this grow LK!

Hey ANPF as you can see I still have a bit of room left in the tent, although I have been surprised before at how quickly that room is taken up ;)

Sooo excited for your first indoor grow, that @VIVOSUN smart grow system will help a lot! I have a feeling you'll find a way to get that second AeroLight one way or another :)

Are you trying to stretch that plant or is that the recommendation for growing?

Thank you so much! Is the AeroVesh on top now (I cant see it)? Also was wondering if youre anticapaiting needing the extra clip fans? Im just trying to price out my grow needs as best as possible. Overgrowing the tent for me would be a happy accident I think lol. Though I do get super scared and anxious for others that start hitting their lights. Its going. to be sooo much fun! :yahoo:

Im itching to push the buttons and buy it already. Waiting to see if a few other things happen first. I considered going SIP for this but one giant new thing at a time :D:lot-o-toke::nomo:
Going soil (FF OF for most of it with HF on top, clay pebbles on bottom, vermiculite/perlite, coco coir, Diatom Earth, DynoMyco), 5 gal bags.

Boy oh boy oh boy!! I sure hope so! :green_heart::cheer::thanks:

Hey Captain. Growing indoor it's more important to keep the plant canopy as even as possible. LEDs have gotten much better but the still don't compare to what you use ;) And they stay in the same place so only the tops get good light.

The best way to keep a flat canopy is to train the branches out horizontally as much as your tent and/or light footprint will allow. I have a 32x32 tent, and I really want to see how the AeroLight fills that space. I'd love for this girl to completely fill this tent.

I'll use LST to train the branches out as much as possible in the next couple of weeks. I'm still considering whether I want to use a SCROG net.

The upside to a SCROG is that I don't need to use individual LST ties/sticks for each branch. For now it's pretty easy, there are only a few branches and they are inside the bucket. As she takes off and has 20-30 branches to LST and they reach outside the bucket LST gets a lot harder. At that point a SCROG net would be easier to maintain and should fill the tent better.

The downside of the SCROG is that it makes moving the plant impossible and can make watering more difficult. Since she's in that SIP bucket, though, she's pretty hard to move anyways. And with only one plant in the tent I should still be able to get to her to feed/water.

I guess I'll see what happens in the next week or two and take it from there.

Thanks for the info, I learned something new. I have a pregunta? If I grow a African or S.American Sativa will I need a de or humidifier in a tent? Thanks 🙏 CL🍀

Thank you so much! Is the AeroVesh on top now (I cant see it)?
Yes, I have a piece of wood on the top of the tent, and the AeroZesh is attached to it. This allows me to raise my light all the way to the top of the tent if needed. It does make it harder to filter the exhaust, though.
Also was wondering if youre anticapaiting needing the extra clip fans? Im just trying to price out my grow needs as best as possible.
I believe airflow is VERY important. I use Govee hygrometers a lot. On my first grow I had one in the room and one on the plants. I could see 'micro-climates' in the plants where RH was 10-15% higher than the room. Then I added a 12" floor fan blowing horizontally, and it completely changed my tent RH and temperatures. I learned that it's important to have fans blowing on the plants, but it's just as important to have fans moving the air in the tent.

In my flower tent, I have a 12" floor fan and a tower oscillating fan to move the air in the tent. I also have three oscillating fans blowing on the canopy. In this tent, the AeroLight is blowing on the plant. I have a 8" fan in one corner circulating the air in the tent, and a 6" oscillating fan blowing on the light.

So to answer your question, the AeroLight is probably enough airflow for your canopy. You should add at least a floor fan in your tent, though, to make sure the air in your tent is constantly mixing. And extra canopy fans never hurt.
Overgrowing the tent for me would be a happy accident I think lol. Though I do get super scared and anxious for others that start hitting their lights. Its going. to be sooo much fun! :yahoo:
Are you planning on running auto or photo? With photos you decide when to flip. Just make sure you account for the 10-14 days transition time.

Are you planning on mixing soil and coco? I've heard that can cause pH and other problems, you may want to stick to one or another. I've had good luck with FFHF+FFOF+10% Perlite. Oh, and Dynomyco of course.

I've haven't grown a true Sativa yet. I'd think you still want it more humid during veg and less humid during flower. So, it really depends on the humidity of your 'lung room', or where ever your tent is getting air. What's the humidity of the air coming into the tent?

I keep my lung room at < 50% humidity. I'll put a humidifier in the tent for seedlings & early veg. Then during mid-veg, when there's enough leaves respiring to create the proper humidity, I'll remove the humidifier and use the AeroZesh settings to keep the humidity from getting too high. From that point on I'll use the exhaust to dry it out more and more until harvest.

Here are my rough humidity targets:
Seedling - 80-99%
Veg - 60-75%
Early Flower - 55-60%
Mid Flower - 45-55%
Late Flower - 40-45%

I haven’t even got the tent +light yet I’m waiting on a friend to help me rearrange my bedroom furniture before I order it. But I found a 48x48x72 tent for 60 bucks and I’m going to get a @MedicGrow Mini-Sun 2 320W. But that’s what I want to try to grow. Also found a 6” fan for $20.

Ill have plenty of space above to do something similar if need be but going to try and keep it inside if at all possible. Thankfully have a lot of leeway on smell here. I keep calling it an AeroVesh!! lol

Indoors 25 years ago I was always harping on humidity and airflow. No digital control things back then at all, timers were all analog, hand cranky old school things. So right there with you. I have a small open face floor fan and can order a clip if it looks like will need it for extra canopy breeze, and do have a tower fan as well.

Are you planning on running auto or photo? With photos you decide when to flip. Just make sure you account for the 10-14 days transition time.
Im going to live dangerously and try to get 3-4 plants going in the 39x39. 1 or 2 photos and 2 autos. The kind person from @VIVOSUN and their coworker let me know multiple plants is doable. But also part of why I want the second light so much now. Im buying extra seeds to fall back on in case I mess this up bad lol.

Thaaaaaaank you! I was going to ask around a bit more before spending the money.
Do you dress just the top of the pot with HF? Or is it something you use early on going through uppots? Something else?
You saved me about 15 bucks just now, scrapping the coir. I just was wanting it for helping with drainage, aeration etc.
Oh but you helped convince me to buy rapid rooter/ez gro thingies so breaking even with your advice today lol ;).

Super excited to use @DYNOMYCO as well after seeing comp grows. I didnt realize you could put right on the root balls until I saw you do it! Mycelial Consciousness for the win again.

You must be excited getting ready to grow indoors. If you can you should get a bigger light. Ideally for photos you want 30-50 watts per Square Foot (w/SqFt) for photos. A 4x4 tent is 16 SqFt. 320w is only 20w/SqFt.

My flower tent is a 48x48x72. I had a Vivosun VS4000 400w (25 w/SqFt) light in my 4x4 that did pretty good, but I just upgraded to the Vivosun VSF6450 with 645w (40 w/SqFt).

If you're doing autos, you can get by with a little less light and more hours per day. If you are doing photos, then the light is the 2nd most important thing (behind genetics) to getting dense, frosty buds.

I understand that you can do both at the same time. I'm not sure I understand why you would want to. For the variety? I still feel it's like baking a cake and a pie in the same oven. You can do both at the same time, but neither will be as good as if you set the oven properly for one or the other. You could do a SOG with four photos and go straight to 12/12.

I use the FFHF+FFOF for the whole grow, from the initial planting in the 4" pot up to the 5g pot. It's a fairly neutral mix that holds pH well. With the 10% perlite added, it's easy to water and drains well. Take a look at this post to see how I prepare my soil mixture.

Oh, and those EZ-Gro plugs are fantastic. I start all my seeds in them, even my tomato seeds, and still have 100% germination.
Super excited to use @DYNOMYCO as well after seeing comp grows. I didnt realize you could put right on the root balls until I saw you do it! Mycelial Consciousness for the win again.
@DYNOMYCO has to be in direct contact with roots. Top dressing or adding it to the water is ineffective. One of the best reasons for multiple up-pots is that it gives you more chances to charge that rootball with Dynomyco!

I understand that you can do both at the same time. I'm not sure I understand why you would want to. For the variety?
Yes. Variety but not just for grins and giggles, my super awesome wife goddess needs me to grow a good low potency auto for her. I also am dying to try a couple different autos and there are 4 photos on my hitlist right now too mostly for the increased yield and slightly higher potency potentials. I thought Id compromise this first time out. Probably reinvest next Spring in another tent/light system for a better grow regarding photos.

Now though.. hmmm.

Yes but even with a SOG I still need to grow a fast low potency strain. Also doing a few different photo strains in a SOG would run me up against the same issues Id have with autos doing things in a seperate time frame.

Still Ive seen so many autos filling space and living with photos and I feel like it was all the way through flower.

In my head this first grow is just to get familiar with doing all the different extra stuff. I guess Im not over worried about yield/getting the most out of the plants this one. Just want to get them through to a decent harvest.

I dont know my friend... Im still swirling all the ways to pull this off in my head. Variables regarding the light (whether i get one or two) are also basically a deciding factor.

Ive given myself a lot of time to figure it out still soooo all your input is super duper appreciated my friend!

Yeah it made total sense to me once I saw how you did it. Until then I had thought that just dusting some in the hole and the top dress would be it.

You don't need Coco, Happy Frog or Perlite. I've been using Ocean Forest straight from the bag for over 5 years.
Some say it's too hot. I say their issue is with watering too much & that's why their plants turn yellow & die. I don't use any type of rooters either. I don't soak my seeds or use a paper towel & baggie. Plant the seed 1/4" deep in the soil & water lightly. In 2-3 days you got a seedling. No heat mat, no humidity dome, etc. Seems some people try too hard when it's all really quite simple. The less you use, the simpler it gets. If you decide to clone, look at @Emilya Green tutorial on how to make a bubble cloner. I have 100% success with mine.

When you do Auto's & Photo's together you want to start your Auto's about 5 weeks before you start your Photo's.
Most Auto's take 8-10 weeks to be ready for harvest. That way you Veg your Photo's the last 5 weeks under the right amount of light hours & can flip to 12/12 as soon as you harvest the Auto's. Auto's you run on 20/4 or 18/6 the entire grow. There is no flipping to 12/12. That's only with Photo's.

Thanks Buds. I use the EZ-Gro plugs because they work well for hydro and I have 100% germination, so I stick with it. If not for hydro, I'd probably start my seeds the same way you do, right in the soil. The important part is to make sure they stay warm and moist.

That makes a lot of sense.

Lots of great info and can't express how much I appreciate the old school and simplified process of growing as well. Watering too much is a fear of mine. Specifically regarding getting nutes into them. It's why Im concerned about drainage, hence the coco, clay pebbles, perlite etc.
Do you uppot several times? If so are you using a mycho blend?

Im just wrapping up an outdoor grow that was all about simplicity and keeping it cheap. Loved it and want to basically bring it indoors now.

I wanted rooters as just an assist with initial mycho rooting. Feeling like with the autos especially you get a bit extra yield with some extra root love at beggining. Waste of time in good soil??
