LKABudMan Grows A Fruit Punch Auto With The Vivosun Smart Grow System! - Featuring Herbies Seeds, GeoFlora & Dynomyco

Cool! It's got a name now!
Glad it's working for you, it makes the process just a smidge easier...
That plant is looking great! I tried training an auto one time (so far), but she didn't like it, so she didn't stretch -ended up 18 inches wide, but only 4 inches tall...she was CBD weed, so no big deal ..
".... but she was CBD (and I stopped reading)" haha.

Still groovin on the Carhooks baby, nothin but love.

See, and I felt like it took me forever to catch on to what was happening. You're right, though, you couldn't tell by looking at her. It's hard to believe it's only been two weeks since she was topped.
LK, did you feed yet? Given your travails and the Mountain Dew colour of your plant, I would feel alright, if she were mine, to water that feed in and call it a worthy compromise. Given she's well established, (ridiculous how short a time transplants take in SIPs but no doubt we'll get used to it, quickly) if you're getting behind on feed with an organic grow you might want to bend a rule if, in your experience, the feed issue would otherwise mean a meaningful slowdown of her 'schedule'.

Thanks for the transparent equipment reviews. Highly valued. I know you and the dev team will sort it, and very glad you're diving on that grenade for us. Honestly, Vivosun ought to be enamoured with you at this point. If not, well, tell them to eat a peach, from me. Best wishes.

I fed this morning, 1/3c of Geoflora Bloom. I roughed up the soil around the outside, which was nice and moist. Then I amended and topped with more soil. Then I gave her 1.3L of water around the outside, really watering in the feed. I'm encouraged by how moist the soil was when I began, and don't think there will be any issues with the top dressing.

Thanks RD. I have to admit I was a little nervous this morning when I saw the email from @VIVOSUN starting with "We read your grow journal...". Fortunately, it went on to use words like 'professional' and was very complimentary. They're also rushing me out a new AeroZesh ;)

I’m amazed at how fast she’s growing 😍 . Great looking girl ❤️. @VIVOSUN + you grow some nice looking plants. CL🍀

I removed all of the CarHooks today and fed Pebbles 1/3C Geoflora Bloom. I roughed up the surface really well first. It was nice and moist. Then I amended the soil around the outside of the pot, mixing it in well. I topped with 2 cups of Sohum soil, then top-watered with 1.3L of water.

Then I put the LST back on. Quite a few CarHooks were replaced with LST wire around the perimeter of the bucket. I got rid of some of the 'suckers' as well, or the sub-branches growing out of the bottom of branches.

She's about as wide as she's going to get at this point and will start growing up from here. I'll keep the LST on to try to keep everything even. At this point it's like whack-a-mole; any bud that pops up above the others gets pulled back down or super-cropped. Time to let her fill up and start to stretch!

Damn that's a fine looking plant, and it's going to be even better in a week with all those pistils popping! Well done LKA. :thumb:
Thanks Shed.

It blows my mind on how fast it grew, great growing BudMan👏 CL🍀

I know, right? How did she get so big just 34 days from sprout? She's had two inoculations with @DYNOMYCO , she's in the SIP bucket with Sohum amended with Geoflora, she has the AeroLight all to herself, and she's an auto. I'm not sure which is responsible for her growing so quickly, but I'd like to think... all of the above ;)
Vivosun and BudMan for the win!
Thanks SO.

Pebbles is at the end of her fifth week and finally in full flower. I only had to tighten a couple of her tie downs this morning, just the ones that were taller than the rest. I removed a few leaves that were growing toward the center and covering buds, the rest were tucked away. I'm still trying to keep the middle open to let the buds there fill in. And wow there are a lot of buds!

For the buds that are too far out to CarHook, I'm using binder clips on the side of the bucket along with a stiff coated wire. By using the CarCrook and a bend in the wire, I can hold branches out way outside of the bucket.

I'm really excited with the number of flowers I'm seeing across her canopy. She's a little uneven, but she's almost 2 feet at her widest. The @VIVOSUN AeroLight is doing a great job across the canopy right now. With GeoFlora in a SIP bucket, all I need to do is keep the res full. Pebbles has all the light, water, air, and nutrients she needs to do the rest :)

Great work budman lookin real nice. My journey begins soon on the carhook scene. :thumb:

Love the training and the growth with this light is top notch.

:welldone:
Thanks Pebbles is loving it so far.
Beautiful plant, BudMan- you and that light are killin' it over here!
Thanks C, I still can't get my girls as full and lush as yours ;)

Thanks GF. A tip I learned about the carhooks; put the wire near the top of the skewer, not the middle. I started with mine near the middle, and that doesn't give you enough skewer in the dirt. Pebbles kept pulling out the CarHooks. I moved the wire toward the end of the skewer so I could get them deeper in the dirt and they worked much better. Have fun, your plants are looking great.

Pebbles was still pretty even this morning. I tightened up a couple of CarHooks, tucked a few leaves, and snipped a couple more. Then I decided to get rid of the suckers, the sub-branches growing from the bottom of other branches. They rarely make it to the top and just suck energy from the plant. It's never fun getting rid of buds, especially on such a little plant. It's better than leaving them on, though.

Her buds are filling in nicely. She still has some yellow and twisted growth on the very tips of her new leaves, but everything looks perfect on her established growth. Is this something I should worry about? Is it just a genetic trait? Too much/little nutrients? She's in Sohum soil and was just fed 1/3c Geoflora bloom two days ago.

welcome to SIP madness! You'll be chopping green almost every day, but budsites o'plenty, all nice and even, are your reward. I was very, very aggressive with mine in keeping its height contained because I'm on dollies and my containers already create a slight height penalty, and I really enjoyed the Carcass Carhooks. Needed 100 of them for my 4 plants. The heavy lumber around the edges I'm pulling outward with weights, lead, washers, etc. which are nice because they rarely require adjustment.

Is your nutritional conundrum correcting? Been hoping for you that you see a quick response, but I'm not practised with the GeoFlora nutes many people here use as they aren't easily found where I live on Vancouver Island.

I actually use lots of different organic elements in my SunshineMix#4 (dunno if it exists in US, think, Promix HP, they're almost identical) so that my plants can get nitrogen, etc. from multiple sources and I can keep my salt nute levels moderate.

I'm quite concerned that this passive system will create a 'saltline', that is because it dries out at the same level all the time, the peat will hold onto the salts at that drying point and it'll build enough to, at some point, become toxic and prevent uptake from plants.

I dunno, it does seem that my moisture levels does stay pretty good all the way to the top centimetre, and the gradient of course means it just gets wetter. Nonetheless, I am concerned about using salt nutes in SIPs enough to really go through the process and figure it out. I ran a lot of tomato sips last year, 22 plants, most with saltnutes, so hopefully I'll have built a level of confidence for myself soon.

I've thought about doing a flush once, maybe after stretch ends, to wash the salts through and out, and take some readings of the flush that leeches out to establish whether buildups have taken place, that would finally put my mind at ease. In the meantime, I feed moderate salt nute levels and look to the things I added when I mixed the matrix, such as worm castings, small amounts of poultry manure, time-release gypsum, and dolomite, and others, to take up a part of the req'd nutritional support and de-acidification. Best to you - rd

Love the CarHooks. I've always practiced LST, usually with wires attached to binder clips. The CarHooks are much easier to use and adjust. I still need to try fishing weights...

This is my first time using GeoFlora as well.

I'm not planning on using many/any salt nutes. I may use some Terpinator if needed as a bloom booster, but I'm going to try to stick to the GeoFlora. I do plan on feeding every 10 days instead of two weeks to try to keep ahead of her a bit in the SIP.

I agree that my soil stays moist all the way to the top, so I'm hoping top dressing is not going to be an issue.

Oh, and @ReservoirDog , you asked me about my IMP on my other thread and I forgot one thing; I use boiling water to steam all of my soil before it goes down to the basement. This kills any bugs+eggs in the soil.
