Medium: 5G SIP bucket with FFHF soil & Dynomyco
Nutrients: Remo Nutrients week#6-8 flower

Daisy isn't drinking as much in the past couple of weeks, almost half of what she was drinking two weeks ago. She's still going through 2L of full-strength nutes daily, though. I'll be switching her to plain water soon.
Daisy Tracker 20230711.png
I've put the @VIVOSUN SGS to -FLOWER- mode, lowering the RH to 60% day/52% night. In her last couple of weeks of flower, I'm hoping the reduced RH will lead to increased density in her flowers.

I've removed a couple of dozen shriveled up leaves from all over. I pull them down at the base and they just snap off. She has a lot of leaves, though, and not much more time before harvest.

Her buds are filling in nicely. They're finally getting a good layer of frost on them. I'm starting to see some purple in them as well. The smell is funny, one day it seems to be picking up and the next it dies down.

I have to be very careful with the wiggle test on her. She has really long stems and already has some lower buds falling over. I can feel her buds getting dense and putting on weight, though. I'm hoping I don't need to stake her up at the end... I mean, with Julie next to her there's really nowhere for them to fall ;)

Medium: 5G SIP bucket with FFHF soil & Dynomyco
Nutrients: Water Only
Pests: Fungus Gnats, Spider Mites

Daisy is on plain water for almost a week now. She's still drinking, but looks like she's slowing down a little. I think this mornings water was the last this lady will get.
Daisy Tracker 20230717.png
I'm keeping an eye out for the spider mites, but so far I haven't seen any more damage or webs. I sprayed the one cola that was covered in webs on Friday, and here it is today, still clean.

Daisy looks like she is just about finished. Most of her stigma have turned and crinkled up, her calyx are starting to swell. Her lower buds are starting to sag and had to be tied up, and the wiggle test shows quite a bit of weight on her upper buds. The smell has gotten stronger in the last week, and the trichomes are coming in thick. I took more trichome pictures this morning. It looks like the harvest window is open.

Daisy's res is full right now, so I'll give her a couple more days to go through that. She's a lot easier to move around when she's dry ;) I'll start taking some of the lower fans off this week, cleaning her up for harvest. By this weekend she'll be hanging in my drying closet :)

Pests: Fungus Gnats, Spider Mites

Julie finished her first water break and is now on her new Remo blend. I mixed up 6G of her new blend and measured it at 6.1pH & 880ppm (1.7 EC). The pH usually rises over the first day, so I expect it to be up to 6.5ish by now.
Julie Tracker 20230717.png
I took Julie out of the tent this weekend and gave her a good spraying with SNS-217C spider mite control. She'll get sprayed a couple more times in the coming weeks. She's not showing much mite damage, but I don't want to give them anywhere to hide. The ladybugs are coming this week.

Julie is still on her riser, but her canopy is now even with Daisy's. That means she's getting the spill-over light from the other AeroLight. Soon, she'll have the whole tent to herself to complete her stretch. She's still growing an inch every day and shows no signs of slowing, filling the tent with fluffy white flowers!

Daisy is still hanging in there. I'm still not seeing any webs or further mite damage, which is good. I know they're still there, though. I received 1500 ladybugs today. They're in the fridge right now, but I'll release a couple of dozen in the tent this evening.

Daisy's res was filled on Monday (the 17th). Her res is dry this morning, and I'm not giving her any water just yet. I'm not really droughting her, but if I'm carrying her upstairs this weekend I don't want her saturated either. I may give her a liter or two if she starts looking too thirsty.

I took some more tric shots today. It's a mix of top, middle, and lower buds. I'm still seeing some clear trics, but most are cloudy with some amber. I'm thinking she'll be harvested this weekend.

I removed all of her remaining LST, which has caused her to shrink in toward the middle a bit. It gives her a smaller footprint and more room for Julie. I've also been stripping fan leaves all week. I love how you can apply a little pressure at the base of the petiole, pushing down, and the whole leaf just pops off. I started with the ugly leaves, and then just kept going. I tried not to touch any buds (though my hands were a bit sticky), so there are still plenty of leaves in the middle. And anything that didn't come off easily stayed and will be removed at harvest.

She looks much smaller now, with all of her buds crowded in the middle. Especially sitting next to Julie.

Julie is on her custom Remo blend, and I plan on keeping her on this through flower:
8 mL/G:Micro, Kelp, Candy
6 mL/G:Bloom, Cal
2 mL/G:AstoFlower
.5g/G:Gypsum
I measured this at 880ppm (1.76EC) & 6.2pH (it usually raises a bit over time). Somehow I forgot to feed her on Tuesday, but she's OK missing a day (although her res was dry on Wednesday). She's increased her drinking lately, up to 3L/day. I plan to give her a water break soon, with another dose of SNS-209.
Julie Tracker 20230720.png
She still has a few leaves with some mite damage, but nothing serious. If I see it, I spray it. When I take Daisy out of the tent, I'll take Julie out as well. I'll give her a good spraying again, and the tent will get cleaned as well. And then re-stocked with ladybugs.

Julie's up to 28" tall and still building and stretching. She has four branches on the outside getting taller than the rest, though. I supercropped one today, pinching the stem until it was pliable and then bending it over. I secured it with a piece of wire. I'll see how I like the looks of that tomorrow, and then probably do a few more.

As soon as Daisy comes out, I'll remove Julie's riser and she'll go under both lights. There will be a new occupant in this tent soon, although she won't need much room for a few weeks. Until then, Julie can build and stack under both @VIVOSUN AeroLights. She's a big lady and needs all the light footprint she can get.

Daisy has been on straight water since day# 80, and in the last few days her drinking started going down. It's harvest time!
Screenshot_20230723_131843_Sheets.jpg
On Friday I took Daisy out of the @VIVOSUN Auto Oasis for the last time. With most of her fans gone, you could really see how much bud she's packing. Then my wife and I took her apart branch by branch, removing everything that didn't sparkle. There were a lot of small branches inside, because she was never defoliated much. There were also a lot of long buds, winding their way up the stems.

With the spider mites we decided to wash all of the bud. The long buds made washing a challenge, especially in a 5G bucket. I used three 5G buckets. I filled the first with 1c lemon juice and 1c baking soda (with 5g water), and the rest with just water. All of them got an air stone, to increase agitation. Each bud got 15-20 seconds in each bucket, swirling it a bit but trying to to touch the sides/bottom. The longer buds got folded in half, with the top of the bud bobbing up and down. It took a while, but in the end everything was hung up to drip dry until we went to bed. She ended up on 6 hangers and will be in the drying closet for about two weeks. She still smells incredible.

Yesterday I broke down the SIP bucket. This was my first time using a fabric cover over the dirt. It made it really easy to remove the rocks, I didn't have to sift out any dirt this time. I'll use this same fabric cover the next time, too. Here's her bones, with my dog photobombing. You can see where I repaired her broken main.

The roots came all the way up to the top of the fabric, which is what I was hoping for with the fabric. I took the feeding tube out and took a picture down the hole, getting a cross section of the roots.

The root ball was interesting. I could still see the original root ball and the top 4-5" had feeder roots. Then there was a thick band of roots right above the air gap, circling the bucket. The middle of the bucket had almost no roots, especially near the outside, and fell apart when I lifted it up. As usual, there was almost no roots below the air gap.

I'm wondering if more wet/dry cycles would help fill the center of the bucket with roots? And if it matters? Daisy is by far my largest auto so far, and she looks small compared to Julie. They can grow whatever roots they want as long as they keep filling the drying closet :yummy:

Violet (Herbies Seeds Grandaddy Purple Auto)
Date: 7/24/23 Day# 1
Medium: EZ-Gro plug in Vivosun starter tray
Nutrients: N/A

On Thursday (7/20) I planted a new seed, a Herbies Grandaddy Purple Auto (next to some new lettuce).

Here's what @Herbies Seeds says about this strain:

Grandaddy Purple Auto Strain Info
The history of this West Coast classic starts in San Francisco in 2003. From there, Grandaddy Purple went on to conquer the world thanks to her outstanding flavors of grapes, pine, and spice, as well as her relaxing effects. We created Grandaddy Purple Auto as a tribute to the original but with the added bonus of automatic flowering.

Genetics
The genetic lineage of this auto goes back to such diverse hybrids and landraces as Mendo Purps, Skunk, and Afghani. The resulting purple plant was then crossed with a Ruderalis phenotype to get a cultivar that flowers automatically but doesn’t lose on the original’s outstanding quality.

Flowering Time
Grandaddy Purple Auto’s flowering time doesn’t exceed 63-73 days from seed regardless of light schedules or the duration of days and nights outdoors.

Yields
Indoor-grown plants usually yield 1-1.1 oz/ft² (300-350 g/m²), while outdoors, each plant will produce about 2.5-3.2 oz (70-90 g).

Effects
GDP Auto produces a balanced high that manifests in two distinct phases. First, you’ll feel an immediate surge of euphoria that’ll leave you mentally relaxed yet focused. In a short while, the relaxation will sink deep into your body, filling it with a beautiful buzz and sedating you to the point of sleepiness.

Medical Properties
The balanced all-round action of this smoke makes it the perfect medicine for any mental or physical condition. Some people use it to treat stress, fatigue, nausea, or insomnia, while others report that it helps with aching muscles and joints.

THC and CBD Levels

The THC content in these buds can reach 22%, while CBD levels are negligible.

Smell and Taste
The one-of-a-kind terpene profile of Grandaddy Purple Auto is something you won’t easily forget, as it offers a unique blend of notes – grapes, other berries, spicy pepper, and fresh pine forest.

Grow Tips

A medium-tall variety, GDP Auto usually stays within 3-4 ft (90-120 cm) even if grown outdoors and left untrained. Thanks to her strong Indica dominance, this strain forms compact bushes with medium branching and the perfectly symmetrical structure of a Christmas tree.

- Keep the canopy flat with ScrOG if you want bigger yields.
- Use hydroponics to increase production by up to 20%.
- Lower the day and night temps at the end of the life cycle to bring out the purple hue.

Then yesterday, after three days in the plug, she emerged. Say hello to Violet!

Here she is this morning, her first full day under the light.
