LiveAndLetGro's 1st Time DWC LED Bagseedx4 Grow, 2017

Sativa! Nice! It does look like they are 2 different kinds, not just different strains. I took some photos of the wind burnt leaves. These ones are on the second level of the canopy, directly in front of my oscillating fan. They are about 24" from the lights which is why I believe it is the wind and not a nute deficiency or anything like that. I have my hygrometer hanging at 14" to remind me to move it up if I see the girls getting too close to it.

Lots of info i know.
This makes it simple and i did this at first and it works perfectly. just chart and follow the instructions.
Got this from "how to grow Marijuana" in the Grow Room forum. Lots of good stuff.
Again ask anything. I will leave you alone now but dont think you are bothering me.

I am gonna give you rep for doing so great on your grow. i appreciate the give back. its the star looking thing near "blog this post" lower left. thanks!

PH-EC_Chart11.jpg

Good Morning everyone! Quick question about res changes and ph/ppms...So today is scheduled to be water change day which is every 15 days. Water levels are falling and ph is static in both res's. By charting my ph's and ppm's I know that The Freak is Falling-Falling-Static. She has been consistent over the last four days. If a trend lasts three days I consider it a true reading of what she is doing. So by that measure, she is a hungry plant and I need to raise the PPM. My question, should I res change like I normally would or just up her nute levels by watering her with a higher nuted water? I will most likely do a res change on her and raise ppm's to around 700 or so but wanted to get your opinions on it.

Now on to Legz. She is somewhere between Falling-Static-Static and Falling-Rising-Static. Her ppm readings over the last 4 days have been 479-470-476-489. I usually consider a +/- of at least 2 on my meter. If she is Falling-Static- Static she is in perfect conditions. If she is Falling-Rising-Static she is thirsty and I should lower my ppm's.

I am having more trouble deciding whether or not to do a res change on her. She is really close to the perfect condition. I guess maybe I should just wait a day or two more and see what they do. Do I really need to do a water change just because it hit the 15 day mark and that is what I have been doing? She isn't showing any bad signs or anything. Any advice?

This may help. I started using graph paper but I screwed it up about a week in and switched to this calendar.

Excellent notes LALG. Lending a hand is easy when you have a history of WTF is going on I would res change simply because your pH is starting to creep up. Remember that nutes can go both ways as well. Your girls will eat the nutes she needs and spit out the nutes she doesn't. ( Super simplified explanation). Basically she will try to find a homeostatic state. All we ever know is the ppms and EC. We just don't know what's in the solution. The solution could be missing something or super heavy in stuff not needed. I res change every week but my res was only 2.5 gals. BTW. Awesome job. You have done great. Personally I would not exceed 1000 ppm in your feeding solution. I like your 700-800 numbers. After all look at your amazing plants. This is about the time Cal Mag issue might start to appear. Keep an eye out for that.

Mad respect for your grow and record keeping. If you do a nute + up do only that and wait a week to see the results. One change at a time.

I am envious of your natural abilities. You make this look so easy.

Yeah I definitely need to get some white duct tape and cover that stuff up, it is probably doing more harm than good.
Thank you so much for the compliment on the garden!!! :high-five:
I really appreciate it. Honestly if it hadn't been for you and Bedroom Farmer chiming in early, this very likely could have ended up in the Abandoned Journals section.

I probably will go ahead and do a res change. I will be sure to add some cal mag and a full dose of z7. I hope it doesn't sound like I'm being lazy and not wanting to do a water change because of that lol. I really don't mind doing water changes, that's just extra time I get to spend with the girls!

Dude,
You are definitely not lazy. Your results show it. I always hate to change when my numbers look so good. I hope you understand what I was saying about the solution. EC and ppms mean nothing if the solution is crap.
Yeah BF is the man. I keep my ears open and my mouth shut when that guy speaks.

I had a slight understanding after your first post but now I know exactly what you mean when you say "EC and ppms mean nothing if the solution is crap"

Chances are pretty good the solution is on the crappy side at this point. Plus it's the middle of the sixth week of flowering, I figure they would like a fresh res and nutes. They shouldn't have too many more res changes with nutes remaining. Thanks for the advice on the good numbers/crappy solution, it really helped clear up what might be going on and I bet you are exactly right.

Yes sir the colors are representative of each bins ph and ppm's. I use the blue and yellow for bin 1 and red and darker blue? for bin 2. Using the different colors seems to make it easier to pick out when I am referencing each. The stars are days I added water and the circled dates are water change dates. The 24th was the last water change but I took this picture before the change. Some of the days I added water I did a later check and recorded the values twice those days.

My pleasure Lonestar! Using that calendar and the chart Gauge provided I have been able to easily track what my girls are doing.

I figured I might as well do an update, I took some pics of the girls today...

LALG,
Your plants look so healthy! Your leaves are reaching up ward and your buds are filling in nicely, you are just killing it! :bravo:
One of the best if not the best first time hydro grows i have seen so far. Great job. YOU DID IT!

Thank you so much Gauge! It's so exciting, I hope they are good medicine! The Freak is filling out really well, I will probably be lollipopping and defoliating every time from here on out. Legz seems to be taking a little longer to fill out, must be because there are so many bud sites on her I guess. Probably should have defoliated her earlier, but oh well, live and learn lol.

I noticed you had a bud on the bud of the month contest. How were you able to enter? Did you just get lucky and see the contest within the first few minutes it was posted or something? I would like to enter one in the next month or so, any advice on getting entries in would be appreciated. Thanks again!

LALG,
After you dry your medicine, you will find a bud or two that is inspiring. Use a good camera or if you have an exceptional phone and take like a zillion photos. Pick a couple that you feel best represents your work and submit it for all of us to enjoy. First 25 entries each month are up for consideration. Some really excellent entries, huh? I am just honored to be counted among those great growers.
The contests are under the Growers Lounge tab at the top of the page. The 1st page of eachmcontest explains the rules and entry process.

Rut Ro Shaggy! Looks like the ladies weren't too impressed with the last mix of nutes I gave them on water change day. It looks like there are some signs of nute burn. I believe I have diagnosed it correctly but thought I would see what y'all think. The pics I referenced to diagnose...

And this is what they have been doing the last 4 days...

So like I said, it looks to me to be a bit of nute burn. I watered them today with plain ph'd water and brought their ppms down about 50 or so. I also dropped the ph just a bit. I guess maybe going from 500 ppm to 800 ppm during the water change might have something to do with it? What do you guys think?

No real reason I jumped I guess. I really did not intend the ppm to be that high. While preparing the water for the change I followed the suggested servings for "bloom" and I ended up having about 1000 ppm in 19 gallons of water. I diluted it down to about 800 by adding plain ph'd water but the ppm was still a bit high. I don't know why I changed my normal method of just adding 1tsp per gallon. The suggestion said 1 micro-2 gro-3 bloom tsp's per gallon so that is what I used. Plus some cal mag and z7. Throughout this grow I have been using the measurements for a 10 gallon setup when I have between 15-17 gallons per res. I guess I got excited and tried a little more. I see now that these girls definitely like to keep the nutes down.
