And last night she threw me another curve ball of sorts...along with still getting the reddish/purple coloration on the tips of the new growth as she has the whole time I found the following on the end of one of the shoots. It looks like simply a lower bud growing in the picture but I assure you they are both at the tip of the same shoot...bad picture angle:

I carefully checked the tip and there is only one tip (never been FIM'd, cut, topped, whatever)....yet it has two distinct buds growing on the ends. Interesting...veeeery interesting ;)

That double-bud looks like fun. Maybe a real close alternating top. We'll keep watchin though. Ain't it fun?

Hi Lil That is strange, especially since you have done nothing to cause it.
However, I wouldn't mind if mine did that, another bud sure doesn't seem like a bad thing.:ganjamon:

Idk if those clones are gonna make it. Its all good tho, sometimes they just dont. Lots of factors can affect this like genetics etc etc. Princess loooks great tho bro. The MJ gods have blessed you with some double tops in addition to the 21 tops? u da man ;)

sorry i havent been around much. Im gearing for a new grow(new media, system, nutes etc.), im also mid harvest/trimming not to mention the other stuff in life lol.. keep up tha good work tho :thumb:

Agreed, I've pretty much given up on all but that last big one and only because I refuse to give up on it lol. I have kept the plugs super moist (moister than I thought is good for them) for a couple days now from some suggestions in another thread and the discoloration and necrotic spotting has stopped spreading on the largest clone. At least it has stopped from what I can tell so far.

Checked her out after lights came on and she's definitely growing...nothing new there. Had to raise the lights on one side about an inch, temps were getting in to the mid-80's at the highest points. I also have a problem, I've been noticing a definite "claw" look to many of the fan leaves which I remember as being a sign of excess N. Showed my gf it today and she said that baking powder (because it's a base or a neutralizer or something) can cause spikes of N by breaking down previously inaccessible sources of N...or something like that, I'm high ;)

This would make sense as I've been having to use a lot of baking powder to raise the pH of my EJ nute solution to an acceptable levels...I'm talking 4-5 Tbsp+ per gallon. Combine that with the bat guano tea (10-3-1 guano) that I had given her about a week before flowering and I can see where maybe there is suddenly a lot of N available. I had been noticing a residue in my drip pan after watering...I watered her yesterday with almost pure distilled water. However when I checked the pH of the distilled water it read 7.5 which seemed a bit high for such a water source. I checked the calibration of my pH meter and it was spot on. I added a couple drops of concentrated lemon juice which lowered it a bit farther than I wanted so I added no more than 1/6 tsp of baking powder to raise it up a few tenths to 6.5 before applying. I think tomorrow I will flush with another gallon of distilled water being careful not to lower the pH too much so I don't have to add baking powder. Also will stop by the hydro store for some pH Up, been meaning too and finally have some cash on hand.

ph down is very strong IMO, I use (3) 1/32 spoon for my water pH to bring it down to 6.4. I purchased a sample pack of base and down from GH on ebay for 5 bucks or so and free shipping, it comes in powder form and is about a couple of pints but has lasted me six months and I have enough for another 6.

I would flush the girl and just add garden dolomite to the soil some ash if it is too low...
Anyway hope you get it where you think it should be and don't worry too much cause they seem to shake shit off easier than the grower at times.;)

I'll have to give that a look...could fit in to my budget, do you recall what state it shipped from? Last time I ordered something on the 'net it wound up coming from Florida, had I known that I would have paid extra for 2 day shipping lol.

Clones:

Good news is that the biggest clone seems to have recovered...the discoloration and all has stopped spreading and I think I'm seeing new green growth again.

BAD news is that the clones have thrips...at least I'm 99% sure that's what they are. Well, I'm tossing all but that large clone today so it'll only be that one that has it but it has me concerned about the mother plant. How far can thrips travel across carpet? My veg box is about 15' from my veg cabinet but it is in another room, it's against the same wall as the veg cabinet but on the other side (bedroom/living room). I have not touched the clones for a few days since adding the water until today when I was examining one that I was on the fence about tossing...that's when I noticed little white things crawling around in the pellets. Grabbed the digital cam and got some up-close shots so I could try and ID what it was....

I know the hydro store down the road has some neem oil as ladybugs are still in short supply around here....where the hell did these little bastards come from??? Is it possible they were in the plugs prior to purchase? I'm on the third floor and I don't think these things fly... lol
