Micro UPdate:



ok, So I made a happy mistake, Bob Ross style. I took all of the plants out of veg for a byweekly prune, and Papaya 'mom' was chilling in the far back corner, so I got to it last. After pruning the other moms I got papaya1 out to prune, and low and behold she turns out to be a HE. Thats right, MALE. When I sexed the 2 papayas I used a magnifier like usual a while back, and what I thought was a pistil was actually a horn on what grew out to be male flower. WOOHOO!! so I pruned HIM way back, and threw it into the breeding chamber right then.

It's funny how this happened. The papaya 1 pheno is the better of the 2 IMO, hardier, stronger, smellier, and stickier, also is the one with the somewhat polyploidal tendancies. so for that one to turn out male is the best of all possible scenarios with the Papaya. I also have a clone of him that I took out of the dome and transplanted on saturday to keep for future breeding if I like how he turns out.

Since I already have a cindy99 in the breeding cabinet and she's been treated for self pollination I'll also breed papaya into her and call her a mixed genetics. If all goes well I'll be collecting pollen from Papaya1 for selective pollination on the girls in bloom now, and to store in the freezer for later.


I'll take some pics later tonight and try to have them up shortly.

Glad to hear that you are stoked on the Papaya male! I personally would have sh!t myself to see such a beautiful plant turn out to be a male lol...but then again, I'm not doing any breeding. I hope you find a keeper in the c99xpapaya cross!

Yea, It's weird to root for getting a male, but thats the whole reason I got the Papaya seeds. I know I'll get a good one from the cross. they are both very stable strains, even a Papaya F2 should be a somewhat stable cross for an F2 anyways. I just hope I get a shitload of pollen stored the right way for later.

Soooo, I'm Gonna post the crosses that I'm going to be doing here shortly and if any of you super savvy creative 420ers can come up with a name, I'll use the favorite for that Hybrid. Sound cool? I think so. I try, but mostly come up with funny and silly names. I bred Mikado to NL#9 a few years back and the 2 names that stuck were Northern McLights, and McNortherns. lol, it was a bad ass cross, but it'd make us all laugh every time someone would be like " Hey man, we should go smoke some McNortherns!", or a Bigbud x Mikado cross I called "The Big Mak". (No, I'm not obsessed with McDonalds)

...so anyways, maybe some new Ideas would fit my new adventures into Hybridising.

Papaya x Twilight (if the twilight comes out female)

Papaya x Papaya F2

Since I'm using a technique to hermie a Cindy99 for feminized seed I will also try scraping pollen from her bananas to cross pollinate other strains as well.

Cindy99 x Cindy99 Fem F2

I think thats it, and once I get those done I'll be changing up strains for more breeding and backcrossing the good ones. If you think of any funny/cool/awsome names for any of these crosses please post them here!!

haha, yea It's kind of growing on me, but I'll have to have my wits about me to get this to go down nice and easy. I'm planning on using a Q-tip to spread the male love to the females bottom buds. First step will be getting male flowers tho. Still working out the kinks on the Breeding chamber. She's running a little warm, but not too bad, just bad enough to bug me. 83 yesterday when it was 85 outside. I'll have to bite the bullet and get a computer axial 4" fan for her. Then she;ll be happy.

I told my wife about the Papanosaurus and she looked deep into my eyes and asked me if I was crazy. I asked her if she would have married me if I wasn't. lol If the cross comes out awsome it will be a funny AND original name, but I'm still on the lookout for a better one.

Ok, so here is a smorgesborge of pictures I've taken in the last few days. ther are some nice ones here, I think you'll enjoy!

Here are some shots of the Breeding Chamber. I call it the 'Boom Boom room'

I added a dual T5 2' fixture, and will be adding a 4" axial fan for ventillation later. Cindy99 Chemical Hermie in back, Papaya Pheno1 Male in front just after a major prune.

Ok, These Picts are of my Original Cinderella99 Mom blooming under a 400w HPS in the co-op grow. I'm in a pic for height refrence.

Chrystal. She got a touch of heatburn a couple weeks back, but most of the leaves are dying from the flush. She will be harvested on Saturday. She is much more amber than Candy was, so that I can see the difference in effect for future harvests. She is WAAAAAAY over breeder harvest time. she is going to be harvested at 10 weeks on the dot.

I find that I am never happy with the plants at the breeders timeframes. I always like the bud I let go longer. That may be due to my own mistakes in growing that cost me days, but for whatever reason its true. I'm almost always 2 weeks longer.

hahaha, you know you can collect that and water it into your plants for extra yield? It'll make the buds flash crazy colors like a cuddlefish. Well mine might anyways...lol

Thanx for stopping thru man, Yea the cages are a big help, but I also have to drape trellis over them for support, and I'll have to support them even more once they get into late bloom. all of the girls in that room areabout 1 month into bloom. The cindys will explode with buds late, as usual, but I'm dying to see how much we get off her. she's a MoNsTeR!!! I went in there and caught her trying to eat one of her offspring.


lol, I'd be that guy too if I went to parties, but generally avoid them now a days. I bet between you and me If we ever met at a party we could Smoke the place into Matrix bullet time. lol

hey there PapaGreen. Thanx for stopping by man, and thanx for the nice words. They're coming along arent they? Yea, I agree most of the time they do seem to go longer. I think that the heat issue contributed with the extra time on Chrystal, her predicessor Candy did finish 8 weeks though I was looking for a cleaner High rather than a Kick in the ass stone. This girl should be opposite to that. We'll see how Medusa turns out and I'll be basing future harvest dates for that strain from the combination of the 3 cindys soo far.. generally.

lol , Yea, I hear ya, but it's only a room. anyways, I think that the breeders are talking about commercial times (time to 100% Cloudy Trichs) and not for getting the best in flavor and colors. Some do I guess. When they say 8-10 wks I think the 8 is minimum, and the 10 is more refined palat. I dunno, but I do wonder why they would do that. I mean, they ARE supposed to be the best right, so why not be straight forward with harvest times? I dunno.
