Lexort's Kaneh Bosm CFL Garden

Thanks Wrecked im excited to see how this light does aswell and its a fun way to kick off a SOG lol. Im always glad to have you along brother there's always a seat for you. :tokin:

Hey BB thanks brother! Im really excited as well! Im looking at harvesting some time around feb 7th so a little ways off yet lol.

Well time for a update! The girls in veg are looking a little bit better, as i suspected they were not receiving a high enough level of nutes so i am slowly working their nutes up. Don't want to go to fast to quick ya know.

The girls in flowering are loving the new light it seems lol. One thing I have learned so far in growing and in life is that if you can make the women in your life happy you will be happy as well lol.

You flatter me kind sir lol thank you for the encouragement. The way things were going in veg it was starting to bum me out, example of why would be the bigger plant isn't stretching like I would like thus it's preventing me from taking the next wave of clones for the SOG im already a little behind schedule. A question to anyone who can answer it, when you take clones and they finally root do they progress faster as far as requiring higher strength nutes? It just seems like my plants from seeds have been slowly worked up in nute strength but my plants from clone seem to require heavier doses of nutes sooner than the seed plants.

Hey Lex. Looking forward to hearing how the led works out.
FYI, I found something tonight I'll pass on to you, since I recall you asked me to let you know if I ever found any insight on my 'purple wilty syndrome'. (No that's not some sort of VD, I'm talking about my plants). As of the last week the Mama Thai, which as you may recall, was previously suffering mysteriously from PWS, and just as mysteriously cured, now has contracted it again in first week of flowering.
Instead of looking up stuff like 'wilty leaves and purple stems' as I've done so many times already , and going nowhere, I looked up symptoms of low ph.
Bingo- got this - www.centennialseeds.com » Comparison of Low pH Leaf Symptoms in Cannabis to New Mexico Chiles and Broad Leaf Sage
I don't know for sure if it applies to you- but you did ask...
Also- it's obvious that some plants are more sensitive than others. As before when this happened, the plants show it in varying degrees. The exact same variations as last time. The Mama Thai is the worst, ranging down to almost no symptoms on the Blueberry. So it's possible your strain may just be more delicate. I suppose the way to figure it out, would be to do a couple test plants - like one fed at 6.2, one at 5.6, if I was worth the trouble.
I should have found this long ago.
I've been pushing the low end, at 5.5 and 5.4. I guess I pushed it a little too far.
Catch ya later :thumb:

Hmmm good find weasel! I could see this being the case. Now its got me thinking because i ph my water at 5.7-6.2 roughly but i wonder now after reading that link if it isn't the peat moss driving the ph down because i haven't noticed the PWS (btw got one heck of a kick out of this) on my hempys but that is just a theory. Plus i had noticed that ever since i turned the PWS plant into a hempy (kinda lol) it still has some PWS but i noticed the new growth has a green stem now even though its attached to a purple stem. Im willing to bet that its the peat moss i guess I will switch that plant to a proper hempy and see if it gets better. Thank you so much weasel i been researching it still in my spare time but just couldnt find anything that fit the bill.

Ya i think we are too lol. Ya know I don't know how long dolomite lime lasts but i don't have the PWS problem early on in peat moss but after like a month or two then it happens. Won't know till I take a clone and put it in a hempy with now peat moss. I do think also though that my PWS plant is touchy anyways with nutes and the such so that could be in there making the PWS worse. Hmmmmm interesting line of thought though. We'll get this yet! Lol :tokin:

I've been told that dolomite lasts a long time- like a year at least and maybe two. At least long enough for a grow, and in my regular garden I only lime every two or three years. Not that I really have a clue what I'm doing.
Yeah that thread seems to make things pretty obvious. I'm going to try to stay right at 5.8 for a while and see how that goes.

PH, will the fun ever end????????

I'm gonna toss some IMHO words at this one.
We always see words about clones lacking the "vigor" and "speed" of seedlings.
While this may be true, the idea overlooks the fact that clones are already fully mature and put out better bud sites and branches.
This can make them a better fit for folks wanting to bend and twist their girls in various ways (lst, etc...).

And I see that I missed the point to the discussion... sorry.
Yes, my clones can take a thicker mix than seedlings.

Ok so that confirms my suspicion of underfeeding my mother plants. Thanks tead and thanks for the bonus info lol.

Damn its crazy cold where i live right now lol its -9 with a feels like -29 glad i don't have to go anywhere today lol. Hey tead I'll trade ya weather anything would be better then this lol

I can't even begin to imagine. I would have to lay in such thick layers of insulation.
A side story.... many of our houses locally are "raised" about 3-5 feet off the ground. It's an age old technique that provides many important bonuses. During the summer, air can circulate under the house and keep it a touch cooler. Maintenance of the various utility lines is significantly easier than an un-raised house. The occasional "waterings" we get can sometimes be avoided. Probably many other benefits I don't recognize.
As an added bonus, I can pretty much guarantee you that insulation in the older houses (and we have MANY) is either nonexistent or woefully inadequate. There are literally cracks in my old hardwood floor that I can see thru to the ground.... I don't even have sub-flooring.

I often entertain myself with the thought of magically moving this house and plopping it directly into some northern setting.

Hahahaha ya this is not fun lol also not the worst we have up my way either lol. Ya i had seen a documentary about new Orleans and had seen quite a bit of houses on stilts seems to be a good idea down that way what with the hurricanes and flooding plus then come mardi gras you could just decorate your house in some crazy costume and your house would fit right in lol i also saw on that documentary that the utility boxes were on poles that had to be so tall to be within regulations due to the flooding. If you ever did somehow magically move your house north your gonna want to fix your floor lol and insulate everything really well. I use to live in iowa a few years back and it was still cold as shit there too plus it didn't help that it's super flat so the wind in the winter was so horrible lol
