Interesting philosophy and even more interesting to hear there are people still out there like that. Im a hermit so I don't really have friends and I know that sounds sad but really I prefer it this way im really not a people person anyways so even though i live in a decent population your philosophy wouldn't work too well for me lol.
Wow I have almost the same philosophy. This is very much a diy place, and a place to scavenge and build what you need or wait till it falls out of the sky or washes in. And the funny thing is- it always does wash in eventually. I like to move at a snails pace when I can get away with it. My perpetual grow is like the way a tree grows or a snail builds its shell. Each flowering cycle is one more layer. Hopefully a slight improvement each time and I'll slowly incorporate whatever new stuff comes my way and build on that. Hempy is just one more idea to let simmer, and someday when I see it I'll grab a bag of perlite. I'm simmering on the idea of soil growing as well. In the meantime the method I've evolved into is starting to work out pretty well. I refuse to make drastic changes if I don't have to. I like to at least try to figure out what I'm doing now before changing it to something else. Or I just know I'll be even more confused than I already was.
