LA's Quick Guide To Simple Backbuilding Technique For Buds!

Coincidence?

I'd say yes. I had 2 plants that were same genetics and I had all growing parameters in the optimum zone. One foxtailed like it was its job. The other, right next to it, did not. Both were topped and defoliated lightly at the same times. Also, they smell/cure differently as a result.

MikeTbob just told me about this... he told me if I didn't try it on my grow he was going to come to my house and smoke all my Cannabis.
(Or maybe he just suggested it... I think my first story sounded cooler though)

I don't want him to smoke all my Cannabis, so I'm testing this out on one of my tops, and I left the one across from it untouched, so I can compare the results at harvest.

Ahaha too damn funny.

Light, ignore the naysayers and continue to share your knowledge with all of us. My girls are just starting week 7 of flower and several days ago they got a double whammy. Did some defoling to open up the center of the plant so light could get to those sites closer to the main stem. Then some light training, which really only amounted to pulling the side branches down a bit to again. allow more light into center. And finally, yesterday they got a haircut. I took photos after clipping so we'll have some hard evidence as to the effects come harvest time. I have confidence it was the thing to do cuz everything I've learned from you so far has been spot-on. Keep it up Bro.

Here's a pix of my last grow - White Widow. I backbuilt virtually every bud approximately 4 weeks prior to harvesting. It was nothing short of amazing. The buds started thickening up like mayonnaise jars and jutting out new growth from every side. The buds were also the densest I've ever grown. I will be using this method from here on out - great stuff Light Addict!

oh, these girls were flowered under a 400W HPS and a few CFL/LED of course for side lighting.

morning LA

I did the snip to atleast 1/2 the tops on both plants (bubblegum and swiss cheese) , the bubblegum only has about 3wks. left and the SC has about 4 ummmm, maybe 5wks. left at the most. these are outdoor grows, BG is 5'+ and the SC is 6'5''+. I understand they may add some vertical growth still, IDK . hopeing they explode like I've seen here in ur journal and a few others that have tried this method. I'm really impressed, I'm sure i'll make out fine, these 2 plants are healthy and look great ...8^) I will chime in in a week and let ya's know .

back to reading, and again many thanx for the tip

oh yea I subbed too.....

be well and regards

Thanks for the great tip Light! I just gave my Bubblelicious a bud cut on 1/2 her flowers. She has 3 weeks left maybe... I'll let you all know how it turns out!

My backbuilding experiment is being done on the top 2 branches of a Cali Jack photo period plant. I'm growing in soil, with CFLs, and using 3 part nutes. So there's nothing fancy or difficult on my grow. I decided to cut one, and leave the other untouched, assuming that since both were the same node, at about the same height and length, as well as density, they would be perfect as a test bud, and a control.
The pictures were taken with a standard Zippo lighter behind them for a size reference, and to provide a contrast against all the light.
This is after only 9 days since I made the cut:

This is the bud I cut for the experiment:

The tapered shape disappears within a week, and you can visibly see the difference. I'll have a dry weight report in about a month.
