LA's Quick Guide To Simple Backbuilding Technique For Buds!

I just did it on 2 of my outdoor plants, and if there are any results till next week I'll do more colas.

Results are in.. drum roll
The top colas are very dense all the way to the tip. Rather than be pointy/airy I know these will be excellent once dried and cured. Makes wet trim easier too!

I selected two opposing branches at the same node. I trimmed one, and left the other untrimmed. The trimmed bud is marked with a red ribbon, and the ribbon is visible in all pictures.
Now we get to some pictures!
These are the complete branches as harvested from the stem:

Next I removed all the small outward growing branches, and left the main colas:

And finally, I removed all buds from the stems, for a final weight comparison of buds only.

(Copied and pasted directly from my journal because Indica. And I feel too lazy to type. And I have too many subscriptions left to read lol)

EDIT: Oh and yes the scale was zero'ed out before weighing, since you all see the large lid on the scale platform. These are the actual weights shown. Grow was with CFL bulbs only. 14 total bulbs, 350+ watts.

I'll take more photos tonight when the lights come on (just turned off an hour ago)
I don't know the strain, this is a bagseed grow so could be anything
What strain is it? Unknown bagseed
Is it Indica, Sativa or Hybrid? What percentages? I have been told its a sativa dominant and indica hybrid but open to other suggestions :D
Is it in Veg or Flower stage? Flower
If in Veg... For how long?
If in Flower stage... For how long? 30 days
Indoor or outdoor? Indoor
Soil or Hydro? Hyrdo
If soil... what is in your mix?
If soil... What size pot?
Size of light? 250W HPs shining on top of canopy and a 140W LED on the side of the plant
Is it aircooled? Yes
Temp of Room/cab? 25-27
RH of Room/cab? thermo is broken so N/A
PH of media or res? 6.0
Any Pests ? No
How often are you watering? Constant watering
Type and strength of ferts used? THC total horticultural concentrate bloom feed A & B NPK 1:3
Medium: 75% Hydroton (clay pellets) and 25% perlite

This is the one in the tent ( she is a bit behind because of pistil damage due to me being a dickhead and spraying her with water :/)

I had another plant of the same strain go hermie so in flower size comparison without the damaged pistils how much further this one is and is this the point i should be snipping the top?

Yep the end couple of pics show just before the right size of bud development for when to do the snip. :) So a little while yet for the set back girl.
 
right on LA !! yes...it makes total sense to me and its so simple !! I even think it might fill in some of the damage left by evicting bud worms by hand and cleaning up their mess ! I trimmed the tips from 4 of the girls around 150+ bud sites, I left a few un trimmed as to see a differance... the trichomes are at almost all cloudy to cloudy with a few amber so I hope im in the the right time frame, Im shooting for a 40/60 ratio...anyway heres my pound of flesh...Cheers !! :bravo:

Hello again fellow Greenheads!

Here is my tent girl again at day 38....i've seen i should do this technique around week 5-6 so just wondering if she's close to the point where i should do it or let her go another week and do it on day 46?

Now were almost there buddy. You could experiment and do a few sites now and leave the others for a week or just hold on and do all in 7 days. It wouldn't be hurting your girl one bit either way! :)
 
Thank you very much kind sir! I think i shall wait the 7 days just to let her fatten up a little more then use this technique for the first time and by the looks of things on this thread, it will do nothing but good for her :D
