LA's Quick Guide To Simple Backbuilding Technique For Buds!

I'm on the fence. For 10% yield it hardly seems worth it to snip 50 little buds per plant.

What am I missing?

Radogast, I got pics posted on my grow, listed in my sig, anyways take a look and you will see difference in size, and shape, the tips seem to be fuller and rounder vs thin fluffy tips! Hope this helps.

rare brv... im gonna go see what my books have to say on this... b warned tho as far as my experience has taught me those chopped buds would b more suceptable to moulds... everything i read of urs is so far out light... its hard to not just log in and go dont do it its wrong its the spawn of satan ahhhhhh... im doin my best to b open minded and political... but this 1 im not givin a go sorry... kl trick if ya need it tho :thumb:
You really just used the words open minded and political together? They are the complete opposite of each other lol
Suit yourself I question every method, but I don't come on here shitting and questioning people just because I don't agree. I try it first then shit on them Hahahahah. I've tried a ton of methods, and if I only picked up one good trick from this site, its back building.

So either try it, and come back with an opinion. Or take a seat kiddo.

Cheers LA. Back building day for me is Thursday! Can't wait to see them buds swell up.

I do see his point, and the best way to explain backbuiding is. Back building brings in the art of gardening, it may not increase yields like crazy and it may not increase quality of the resin. Nothing like that, that isn't the whole point. The point is to create eye candy! And if it does make overall weight increase then hee haw more sexy bud to smoke lol
2 techniques I've learned that I never miss, back building and freezer curing!

Sorry to get off topic LA, but have you ever tried the freezer cure method? I might make a tutorial soon to help spread the word lol. Tons of noobs including myself fucked up dry cure. Works good if you get time have a look on Google referring to eds book. If you have done it what is your opinion?

Might need to rename this technique, from back building to back breaking. Since I've been doing this, last 2 crops. The plants by the end of week 8 are falling over lol even snapping stalks the buds got so heavy Hahahahah not a bad thing by no means.

Cheers

Aside from the increased yield and potential bag appeal, nipping the buds is one way to get closer to your garden without "loving" them too much. Most folks (usually new growers) tend to want to always do something, so they over-feed, over-water, over-prune, etc, (you get the picture). So, why not take the opportunity to get in-tune with your plants and do something they may reward you with?.. without any of the tribulations that can come from any of the other methods we have to "love" them too much.

If nothing, it brings some zen to your garden. :Namaste:

Thanks LA. I will go on record to say I am 100% convinced this is a legitimate technique to improve the quality. It's still subjective right now, but I will have some pictures etc, to support my stance this weekend too. I can't say it will improve my yield yet, and it certainly won't directly improve trichome production or potency, but it HAS improved shape and density on the 4 colas I nipped from the looks of it. In fact, as I stood over them this morning before leaving the house, I was tempted to take 5 mins and nip a half dozen others I wish I would have done at the same time, but I'm starting the flush already and it's too late for them...but NEXT grow will definitely be haircuts for the lot.

It worked for me as well. I think the shape is the coolest thing. It seems to make it a little more rounder as well as thicker. I will more than likely do all of them next time rather than just a few tops.

I might have been a bit late with this (start of week 6 will be running them for 9 weeks with a 10-14 day flush) but just done it with my clones I am flowering while vegging using the GLR, means I have to move my baby buds about a bit but its worth it to get an early sample while vegging. I have a couple of pics and will take more in a couple of weeks.

Yep, me too. Sorry I don't have pictures for direct comparison, but I snipped 4 top colas that were situated right next to some that I didn't trim and the difference was enough for me to say I will incorporate this technique in all my grows moving forward. I too wish I would have done the lot, but I've proven to myself it's a worthwhile practice... IMO.

Did this on my Auto flower Northern Light and it's looking much more fatter and round! Going to do it to all of my plants when the right time comes! Can't wait for the final result and of cause i will share it with you guys!
