How many of you let the soil dry out before you chop your girls? Or do you water right up until chop day?
I'm going to chop chop Tricia on Monday, but she's looking thirsty today.
She's been outside on the screened porch during the day to make room in the grow room for the other plants.
 
I don't know what's going on. I missed the last several pages of this journal! Geez! If she needs water I would hit her with some. I usually try to go 48 hrs without prior to chop, but I don't want them to suffer. A little stress is good. I can't believe your ready to chop! Jealous! 😀

Yeah, me either. It's only the one plant though.
I have an RQS x Tyson that might be ready early this week as well. That one was estimated 7-8 weeks and I'm heading into week 8 now.
I am not prepared! :rofl:
I'll probably give Tricia a drink, my norm has been to water up until chop day, but wanted to see what everyone else does.
If you see any rain in your area....send it over. We are dry as a bone here, and I have to get water from the pond. A lotta work for these old bones....:laughtwo:

I'm so unprepared also! Trying to get my update finished, so I can move onto other things! We have had hit and miss rain. Nothing serious. Been hot as F tho, think we're touching 101° real feel. I will send over the rain if it ever comes around! I gotta hike for water also. Fill up 4 -5gal bottles every other day. Eventually I will plumb that bastard to my grow area. So your telling me it doesn't get any easier?! 😁

It ain't getting easier for me at all. :rofl: Work destroyed my back, and I have sciatica that kicks in right at the most inopportune moments.
I would love to get a pump back into the pond up to the house, but there just hasn't been time. My dog drug my pump out of the pond a few years ago and chewed it up because it was HIS pond and that didn't belong there!
Maybe next year.......

Yeah, it would be nice if when it does rain it would stop when the ground gets what it needs. LOL
Ahhhh...Mother Nature can be a brat.
 
It saddens me to say....I killed my Bananas.

I enjoyed them while they lasted but it was time for them to go.

I just had the biggest banana split I've ever made!

The plants are doing fine.................. :rofl:
 
UPDATE:
I know these photos are terrible. What I wound up doing with Tricia is a partial chop. I took the top Colas off and left the lower ones that I'm going to give more time. We'll see how this works out.
I'll be trimming up the ones I chopped off today, if I am allowed time, and getting them in the drying rack.
This is the smallest plant and ripened faster for some reason, the rest of them I'll be checking every couple of days to see how far along they are.

UPDATE: I think the rest of these girls are going to be ready all at once. The outer leaves are full of amber. This could be chop week for everyone. Tomorrow I will get in close on the trichomes and see what we have.

I wasn't prepared for this, and time is not on my side. Can someone sell me some time?? I'll pay a hefty price. 💰 😆

In the meantime, I find the differences in cola structures to be interesting. Same strain, three different styles, so to speak.

I go with a drought protocol ala the Capton paper @Maritimer and @Krissi Carbone studied for us. it's around a 10 day drought. I feel it really revs the trich action up!

I just wish it was my turn to drought again ! Between all the manipulation I do to the plants , droughting is the other part I look forward too :thumb: Thankyou one more time for this Krissi. :):hugs: You and me both!! It's a transformation and it's super fun to watch, at least it is for me...

My understanding that it stresses the plant to protect itself from the sun,so it adds more (I don't know what) protection, increasing the protection.

Done it, seems to help as long as you keep an eye on them. Too much lilt not so good.

the last couple of grows I’ve been going about a week…….???
As mentioned above it’s supposed to be a survival response, the trich’ are a safety barrier I’ve always been to understand???
Really liking this site by the way…..✌️

I'm with you on the not on purpose. LOL
Seems when these plants need water they give me about a two hour time frame and their drooping their drawers to their knees. Expected at this late stage of flower and the pots are only 3 gallon on some.
