Lady Cannafan Shrooming Midwest Grow Kits & Spore Genetics - APE, Blue Meanie & More

It is normal and nothing to worry about. I beieve you are correct it from not enough gas exchange. Nice fruits by the way.
Thank you! That made my day to know it's okay. I just need to work on that air exchange now. Going to clean up what I harvested and grab a pic. This isn't something you can just set and forget, that's for sure. They are all coming in at different maturity.
I need to cut them before the veil opens, right?

Yes.....it is best to harvest them right before the vail breaks and the cap opens. I use the twist and pull harvest method. Grab the stem and give a twist as you pull up.

I use an old toothbrush to scrape the vermiculite/ coco coir and fuzz off the base after harvesting them.

Heres another useful tool. It makes looking at the underside of the cap and vail easy to judge when to harvest without disturbing the cake or the substrate. My gf works in the dental industry and it was her idea. Kuddos to her!

I did the toothbrush thing and a damp paper towel. Worked great.
Now that little tool above....I'm heading to the garage for the little mechanic mirror that I used to use when doing ruck repairs! Thanks!

I was once told by the people who taught me to pick scrooms to tap the cap to release spores for future generations. Is this true? CL🍀

Out in the cow fields I would say......yes. indoor growing those spores would not help. Your only gonna get so many flushes. Probably 2 flushes after that the flushes are minimal. Thats my experience anyway but I'm no mycologyst.

So, how would you store these until you have a big batch for dehydrating? Fridge?
I do not store them. I place them on a drying rack with a gentle breeze from a small fan. I made the 3 tiered rack from cheap cookie cooling racks. Then after they loose most of their moisture I place them in an airtight tote with dessicant in the bottom until their cracker dry.

Heres the 3 tiered rack, its missing a few nuts lol. Then the rack fits right in the convection dryer. When the orange dessicant turns brown I put them on a cookie sheet and stick them in the oven at 250° until they turn orange again . Usually about 1 hour.

Do you notice any changes to the potency after drying compared with the fresh ones? CL🍀. :thanks:
