Lady Cannafan Shrooming Midwest Grow Kits & Spore Genetics - APE, Blue Meanie & More

Coming along very nicely @Lady Cannafan
Did you get much fruit off the first one?

Be safe and grow well my friend,
Tok..
Thanks Tok!
I just weighed up what I got on the first run of Blue Meanies. It came out to exactly 10 grams dried weight.
I don't know if that is good, bad, or mediocre. LOL

You should look into doing a bulk spawn, you'll get ounces instead of grams!
All you need to go is break your block of mycelium up and sprinkle into into some substrate and let it colonise again before putting into fruiting conditions.
I can give you more details if you like?

I have all in one bags currently in process. I've looked at the bulk spawn bags as well, I may give those a try on the next run. When I get some of them, I may very well have a question or two for you. Thanks!

I would recommend it, easy enough to make the bulk substrate from scratch, too.
I think I got about 3 oz from one small tub, so it's definitely a much more productive method

I agree, looking back on my log book. first run I got 122 grams and the second run I got 133 grams both dry weight. This was accomplished with four 6qt shoe boxes and one cvg substrate mix and four 1 qt spawn jars.

When you say shoe boxes, are you talking the clear plastic type ones?

For the substrate I use 1 coco coir brick (650 gms) ,8 cups of vermiculite, 1 cup gypsum, and 4.5 qts of water. put all dry ingrediants in a sanitized 5 gallon bucket. Add boiling water and cover with the lid. let stand until cool. then mix the slop. Test for field capacity and your good to go.

Is the 4.5 quarts of water, what you are boiling?
These will be nice to add to the Midwest Grow Kit Ecosphere house.

Yes, sorry for my poor description

Pretty much the same as me, but your "cup" measurements are gibberish to me so I'm assuming it's the same

That's a coincidence, I just ordered a half dozen of them yesterday for a different reason.

Then you're set! It takes a lil longer to get to the finish line, but you get some hefty harvests

That's okay, I just had to be sure. Amazon has cyber Monday deals today, so I need to finish up todays' order.

Thanks Burdok. Got an order for supplies in now. :)

UPDATE: 11-24-23
Out of the 12 jars I inoculated:

3 jars were the Panaeolus Cyanescens Estero: All three jars are contaminated

3 jars were Albino Penis Envy (APE): Still in the mycelium growth phase

3 jars were Tidal Wave: 1 jar was contaminated, 2 jars giving small amounts of fruit.

3 jars were Blue Meanie: All three jars bearing fruits.

2 all in one bags still growing mycelium and waiting to be mixed up.

1 All in one bag mixed and about 4 days to go to start exposing it to light.

Let's hope I get a better return on the PCE when I do the next jars. Every one of those contaminated.
Sample any of your work yet? If you need a volunteer to I’m more than happy to assist you. lol. CL🍀. :thumb: :cheesygrinsmiley:

UPDATE: All of the cakes were soaked and re-coated with vermiculite and are now all back in the fruiting chamber.
Now, I am headed to the kitchen to inoculate the final 6 jars using the Oven door method.
I will be making a still air box within the next couple weeks.

UPDATE: 11-25-23
I've inoculated the last 6 jars. I took extra precautions this time, even wiping down the lids of the jars with iso.
There is one jar that has a hairline crack, I believe it's one of the APE. I hope that doesn't spread out.
3 more Panaeolus cyanescens
2 more APE
1 Tidal Wave
I couldn't see any spores in the APE syringe, they must be awfully translucent.
Let's see if I can get any of the panaeolus cyanescens to grow this time!
