A month minimum.

ouch! Really eh? Damn... they are 51 days into 12/12 - doesnt' that seem like a long time? You guys would know far better than me - i was getting ready to do some chopping in about another 6 days... argh.

;)

thanks to everyone who has been so helpful! Not be ungrateful i promise! Just thought I was almost there...

It's been a long road - i vegged them for longer than most seem to have thought was wise - i was focusing on keeping them healthy and green and then suddenly realized how big they were going to get - they haven't even really quite doubled in size yet - maybe they are about as tall as they are going to get...

throw out the advice folks, I'm all ears!

(KJ your grow is awesome and makes me jealous - sorry to once again hijack we just seem like we are close together in process so this is a great spot to pick brains!)

That's just what I'm seeing from the hairs, some of these plants take forever, but if they're still growing.............

thats a long wait! hope its worth it :)

I had a really close look with a 60-100X scope tonight - i see SOME cloudy trichomes i think.... and i see some hairs that look amber-ish almost like they've died slightly - yellowing like a leaf would. I wonder if I am somewhat close - i'd hate to wait TOO long...

maybe Im just way too anxious - is there any way I can take a sample of what i have now - would it be worth it to find out? would i just take a bud, trim it and dry it for 5ish days?

I think you're really close to where I am. I have 5 that are more mature than the other 6. The more mature ones have a bunch of brown hairs but the trichs are still clear/cloudy with hardly any amber to be seen.

It's been hard to tell for sure because the microscope is hard to use without cutting a sample and setting it down on a flat surface. I took some 1/2 leaves today and checked close, couldn't find any amber, but I do have a bunch of the brown hairs.

I also notice that the buds are getting fat bumps on them, as if they are not just growing up, but growing out. So I'm thinking it's just a matter of a week or so for the mature ones and maybe 2+ weeks for the less mature ones. The less mature ones have sparse colas and the mature ones have had full-filled in colas for about 2 weeks now.

I know it's hard, but you just gotta wait. If you have a large plant or a bunch of plants, a small sample wouldn't hurt. However, what if the sample is exactly what you want... then it's going to be a week later for you to find out. I guess that's not a bad thing overall.

There are so many variables, you have to go by the plant for accurate assessment. OK, you're going from clear to cloudy, just keep an eye on em. It's a good exercise to take samples, it can only give you a more intimate knowlege of the strain, the plant, and yourself.

Hey "MCLODIE " so you are like a walkin' breathing talkin' T.H.C testing apparatus is that what i am suposed to take about two puffs and u spit out the test results.... dam how much fer this service and do u service up here where we say hellla!? central valley. sickness, i wish I was an X-man too or some crazy shit like that. like it yes I do!

Any guesses on how much per plant I might dry harvest? How can I even begin to estimate this?

My opinion is genetics or strain, type of growing enviroment and factors, lastly how much time you spend with them and what it is that you do or how you are with them. my experience with samples is they can be dried in or on something that can not be directly heated but rather indirectly for maybe an hour on low heat to dri out sufficiently to be smoked.

Pretty darn close, my range is like real good between 17 - 23%....LOL!

I've asked this question before and didn't get any guideline.

I'm going to measure each plant's total and take pics. After a few grows, I should have some usable ballpark info.

I'm actually surprised there isn't a thread on this with pics and dry weight.

Weigh a pot with soil in it, weigh a pot with soil....and plant.....estimate stem weight, calculate wet bud weight...And you're gonna get 20-25% of that...dry! Did you guess the weight on hikers journal?

Most growers don't do this as kinda a bad luck thing I think...like counting chickens.....it dosen't serve much of a purpose, unless you're movin it before it grows...which is bad luck to me too.....LOL

hey "Karl" I would venture a guess that It would be hard to guesstimate since type and genetics as well as enviromental factors play an integral role in the development of the plants output, bud size and ultimately how much it is going to fruit. The type of plant it is say a i dont know "big bud" versus AK-47, C where I am headed all is cannabis but different things affect the outcome. R u hella pushin the limits of your additives. have they been innoulated, R u using fungi, do you trim during veg or later, seee where i am headed? Ask a thousand people u get what? I say u get what u put in. Stick it in corn field with a hundred others and what you think it b like? raise it with love and concern I bet , just bet it is dam sight better and more of it then from in the corn field. U feel me! Hard to say maybe some majic ganja guru dude has answer i do not. I will keep searchin now that I got hair up my Heeee Haawwww. Now I would like to know.

I was thinking more along the lines of having a pic of a plant and measure the height. With the pic, you'd get an idea of how branchy or bushy it is. You could use this to get an idea of "if my plant grew to that size, I should have X"

Example: If in my grow, my 4' plants produced about 1/3 lb each, and the 5' plants produced 1/2lb each... You could look at the pictures and say "this is what a 1/3lb plant looks like"

If your 2 or 3 weeks from harvest, you could say "mine's about that size and about the same width/bushy..."

I wouldn't be very accurate, but at least we'd have a ballpark idea of what a 1/2 pounder looks like.

I would only care to estimate if it was one week out and I was standing next to it!

I'm such a loser - i took one branch last night - just for practice, trimmed it up and put in my newly constructed drying box - which is now in the lower portion of the flower room. I even weighed it wet - lol. 6.4 GRAMS wet... with the stem of course still - it's just a tiny little thing.

How much will it shrink up in weight when it dries? I am just hoping I have a pile - but i can already tell just how long decent trimming is going to take - one branch and i was like 10 minutes!!

Hello "KarlJay" I believe you are onto something there. I am going to read again so so I can get a clearer picture. i have not used any type formula before. I counted my main cola and all the others on the lady, measured length and diameter. Some had 10 plus some more I never reallly sat down and tried to calc it out. Hmmmmm gets me thinkin' thanks for stimulating the thought process. my first time I grew 6 footers tall.I do not take the credit for the fact that the nature of the plant (weed) is to do what it does. i followed a recipe that a brother provide me and low and behold I dumped out 2.5 average.it was beyond anything and all I could have ever thought possible. My indoor right now is at about 3feet tall after under two months.Hard to come up with a an all encompasing answer fer you. I am still researchin' will keep checkin'.
