KingJohnC's Lush Lighting LED Dominator 2x Soil Indoor Grow Journal & Review

re: KingJohnC's Lush Lighting LED Dominator 2x Soil Indoor Grow Journal & Review

Hey all, I wasn't going to wade in here but hell!
Simply put this debate is a little negative for my liking. Trying to reason against a companies prices and policies is all a little premature until the proof of the product is in! :)
Lush must clearly have great confidence in their products, they are a company in the market to make a name/money. If they were selling something they didn't believe worth the high price tag. they would have the worst business plan ever and be in trouble very quickly! :) (who are we to question their business plan lol :))
I myself will be watching with a keen eye, an open mind and my judgment reserved till the end results! ! :)

I agree with Light. I'm more interested in what King will do with this grow and the new light is just a bonus.:adore: There is no doubt in my mind that there will be much to learn by just watching his grow and who knows he may very well show us what is so special about this light that would make it so much more expensive......:circle-of-love:

re: KingJohnC's Lush Lighting LED Dominator 2x Soil Indoor Grow Journal & Review

Still waiting on a Lush rep to stop by thread and address concerns, the fact that one has not is a big red flag right there.

Once again, I am not trying to be nor do I think I am being 'negative', I am simply trying to explore why these lights would command such a high price point. I have not said one disparaging thing toward KJC, in fact I think he will get a good result.

I approach this forum as a way to exchange ideas and better my growing skills by exchanging ideas, not just as, for lack of a better term, a 'love fest'. And right now Lush has a ton of unanswered questions. For example why does the Domiantor x2 have almost three times the lumen output of the dominator when the specs/pricing are the same?

For me there are to many red flags to keep quiet about and not break the 'harmony', I hate to be 'ripped off' by unscrupulous people, so therefore I would hate for the same to happen to my fellow growers. After all we live in this quasi-legal world so we are a target for those with a lack of morals. There have been other LeD 'manufacturers' who you can not even mention their name here because of that.

Every other 'manufacturer' I have 'grilled' has been very forthcoming with thier answers, or at least seemed to be.

re: KingJohnC's Lush Lighting LED Dominator 2x Soil Indoor Grow Journal & Review

Maybe Lush will never get involved in this journal. Not all vendors do, I am noticing. And that is fine because it's a conflict of interest, anyway. IMO. Not always, but I most times.

And I do come here for the love fest. Yes. Definitely for the love fest. Nothing wrong with it. I'm also a grown woman of 58 years and you can try to dupe me. Not hapnin.

re: KingJohnC's Lush Lighting LED Dominator 2x Soil Indoor Grow Journal & Review

this all started with trichs asking for some basic stats on the lights; then craw replied that they are sketchy about that data brought up the honda mercedes comparison. Ultimately, if King has a very productive result with these lights, those who can afford these lights can buy them. The honda gets you down the road for less. The Mercedes has a reputation, Lush lighting has to develop a reputation to justify the price; just like Apple is more expensive, but people buy iphones because of their reputation. Maybe, you think?

re: KingJohnC's Lush Lighting LED Dominator 2x Soil Indoor Grow Journal & Review

@GF, curious as to why you think a rep from Lush stopping by and answering questions would be a 'conflict of interest'? As usual not arguing, just curious as to your reasoning.

If I was the owner of a lighting company and a sales rep gave away panels as a promotion/marketing thing and they did not actively answer inquires in journals, they would be fired. Is not that what sales reps are for, to answer potential customers questions about a product?

I do realize people use these forums for varying reasons, I, being a scientist by nature/training, am a seeker of answers, emotion is not something I do well lol.

I guess it comes down to the same thing, I really wish a lush rep would make an appearance :), I think everyone wants to know what makes their lights so different, well according to them.

re: KingJohnC's Lush Lighting LED Dominator 2x Soil Indoor Grow Journal & Review

Craw, I like that you are MERELY, seeking some basic answers to some ordinary questions; I don't see why this should even be debated. If you were comparing the honda, a toyota, and a mercedes and you were told to wait for the results; well the results would be that all cars got you down the road; the details are what differentiates and justifies the price differences, right?

re: KingJohnC's Lush Lighting LED Dominator 2x Soil Indoor Grow Journal & Review

lol its like buying an h-2 or an h-3
you think you buying a hummer what you really get if you don't get the original
is a hummer shell on a suburban body

re: KingJohnC's Lush Lighting LED Dominator 2x Soil Indoor Grow Journal & Review

If you wanna see it from another global perspective, think about what happen with the BITcoins, the former NEW best currency/commodity, the Bitcoin is pure genius, what made it lose its total credibility was the greed of the so called Exchange Companies -just to name one Mt. Gox based in Japan- were serving as "wallets" so people had their Bitcoins "safe", this particular company managed 7O% of the total Bitcoins transaction in the world, well they "lost" over 4OO millions $USD worth in Bitcoins and filed for bankruptcy this year. Lesson: you really have to be aware of everything before making any mayor investment.

And I would buy a Toyota over a Benz anytime, unless its that new mean 6x6 now thats another league.

re: KingJohnC's Lush Lighting LED Dominator 2x Soil Indoor Grow Journal & Review

First let me start off by saying that I believe that KJC will produce a great grow with these lights. :thumb:

My thoughts are: What will my budget allow me to purchase. Can I grow the meds that I need relatively inexpensively.

If I get a pound from light A and 15 ounces from light B; but light B costs considerably less. Then I have to decide if I want light A or do I want light B and the ability to buy a lot of seeds with the savings. I can purchase the seeds from time to time and it wouldn't be a huge one time expanse. I think that the yield from the extra seeds that I can purchase will make up for the cost difference. But this is just me living on a small limited income. I would certainly buy the pricier light A if I could afford it without having to scrimp on food or heat. It is always fun to have nice things.

Having said that, I think that the lights that KJC is testing will be fine to grow great cannabis for those that can afford them. I am eagerly looking forward to the results of this grow.

GO KJC! :thumb:

re: KingJohnC's Lush Lighting LED Dominator 2x Soil Indoor Grow Journal & Review

My problem is people claiming their Hondas as good as a Mercedes even though they have only ever been in the Honda or some other older model. I'm a led head, but yield still isn't there. I think yield is the most important aspect now with LEDs. We all know they grow great weed, but we gotta get the weight. No point changing light sources if still getting the same watt to gram. And some cheaper LEDs on market are actually getting less w/g than traditional lighting, and although "cheap" still move expensive start up than traditional lighting.
Best of luck KJC, a lot of people here to get educated, either way. :peace:

"Maybe Lush will never get involved in this journal. Not all vendors do, I am noticing. And that is fine because it's a conflict of interest, anyway. IMO. Not always, but most times."

Quoting myself because I said maybe, not all vendors, IMO and not always, but most times!

Why I think it may be a conflict of interest is simple; if they come into this discussion at this point, no matter what they tell you it will not satisfy the question. They already said it was proprietary. If the do enter the discussion it could sway people one way or the other. That's the conflict IMO. Period. As a consumer, you have to ability to buy or not buy the light from them. There is not much more to it. I do this all the time. So do you. I also base my findings on scientific evidence and fact. I am in full agreement with you regarding getting answers, but not getting answers is sometimes your answer! As someone other than me says all the time, capeesh?

I suppose in a round about way I was just trying to stop this journal from being ten thousand pages before a plant is shown to us under the Lush Lamp! It's been days since this subject was brought up and we don't see anybody. So, either be patient and they'll get here eventually when the grow is in full swing, OR watch how the grow goes and see. If John gets a larger bud, we'll all know it immediately. I think this review is in capable hands. Give it some time. Maybe they are figuring out how to give you some answers without exposing their trade secrets. Doesn't that make sense?

re: KingJohnC's Lush Lighting LED Dominator 2x Soil Indoor Grow Journal & Review

I would dispute this. With artificial light, you can manipulate the plant in ways sunlight only cannot. Depending on where you are in the world, you might have only a specific time range (june thru oct harvest for me) inwhich you can grow. What about the other times of the year?

Please dont take too much offense to this as i ment this not just you but all growers jumping into LED's or any other light source but just because you had bad experience doesnt mean anything. Did you have a target spectrum? did you have a light meter to know if you are hitting that spectrum? How many umol's did you want and did you achieve that? Did you want a plant that was 3 ft and tight? or 5 ft and stretchy? Some people actually use MJ as medicine and outdoor can have molds and other variables that high quality medical indoor doesnt. There are already growers using lights to manipulate oils/resins/brix/leaf size/... I can go on...

I hope Lush outperforms the sun as IMO, that is a low bar.

No offense taken... The sun is the standard. It provides the broadest spectrum and spectrum's that we cannot artificially produce. The plant adapted to what the sun provided not the sun adapting to the plant. I also really didn't have a bad experience with LED's. They have provided very good medication. Growing up in an agricultural family with generations of farmers there are many symbiotic relationships that we are just beginning to understand. Yet my Great Grandparents knew what was needed by information that was passed down from generation to generation. Please don't take offense but I don't see a LUSH or any LED light outperforming the sun. Having over 40 years of experience and growing indoors and outdoors. Using incandescent, CFL, HID (MH & HPS) and now LED. You can try to quantify all of this but NASA had it right 5-6 years ago and they didn't spare any expense. I do agree that you can better control the environment indoors but you also can pretty much control the environment in a greenhouse. No need to go down this road as this is KJC thread. I do enjoy the exchange of ideas and opinions and it can be healthy and informative when used in a spirit of civility.
