Re: Killian's First Grow FFOF & 30% Perilte - FoxFarms Nutrients - 600W MH/HPS - 6" F

Looking good man! Hey whered you get your northern lights ive never had one stretch that much and get that big i got one phenotype that is literally the runt of every grow.

I got mine from nirvana

I get good yeild off of them but never long branches stacked with bud like that.
Usually its very short small and stocky plants

Anyway looking very good bro i think you might hit your goal easy!

I sent you a PM the seed bank is not a sponsor. I hope your right about hitting my goal. There going to have to fatten up a lot but I still have a ways to go. Thank you for your response I really appreciate it. I don't have anything to compare it to being my first grow but I'm sure I can do better next time.

I've been watching your grow and by the looks of your latest pictures they look every bit as good as mine. Thank you for the complement and glad to see you drop by my journal.

Thanks wood, I was wanting to super crop a couple of colas but the stems are very woody. The light is very close to them but feels OK doing the hand test. I just try to keep the tallest colas from being directly under the light. Glad you dropped by my journal.

Re: Killian's First Grow FFOF & 30% Perilte, FoxFarms nutrients - 600W MH/HPS - 6" Fa

Yes I added an additional 30% perilite. I read somewhere it is supposed to help with the drainage. I am flying by the seat of my pants. I'm hoping to get some input so I don't mess up the flowering stage.
Honestly, it looks like you're doing plenty of things right. The biggest struggle I had with my first two grows were pH problems. That doesn't seem to be the case with yours. Good job.

Thank you. I have checked the PH of my water since day1 and stagger the range from low 6 to high 6 every watering. I feed at low 6 and water at high 6. I don't know if it really makes a difference but my plants stay healthy and haven't had any lock out yet.

Re: Killian's First Grow FFOF & 30% Perilte - FoxFarms Nutrients - 600W MH/HPS - 6" F

I am starting into week 5 of flowering. Day 29 since I started 12/12 on the light. Here is the tale of the tape:
Critical, stretched 1" in week 4 and is 47" tall.
Northern Lights, stretched 1-1/2" in week 4 and is 47-1/2" tall.
Bubble Gum#1, has not grown any taller in week 4 and is 26" tall.
Bubble Gum#2, has not grown any taller in week 4 and is 26" tall.
I believe the stretch is over and they should now start putting their growing efforts into the buds. I defoliated quite a few fan leafs to open up the lower bud sites to more light. As controversial as this is to do I decided to go for it. Time will tell if it was the right move or not. There has not been a significant change since my last pictures but decided to add them anyway. Thanks for stopping by and having a look. Happy growing everyone. The following pictures are after defoliating.

That would be awesome to accomplish my goal on my first grow. Although I would still be happy with half as many jelly bellys. Lol

You might be surprised what weight you can produce in a 4X4' tent. If your main colas get any taller you can tie them over with some wire. Gently pull them over and tie them back to the main stem. Yea those woody stems tend to snap for sure when super cropped. I've broke a million,, but looks like your stretch is over anyways. And your going to start packing on weight now. Which will bend the topps over on their own anyways. Alot of weight in the last 3-4 weeks. GL and Keepem Green

Thanks Wood, i always appreciate your input. Do the stems ever break under the weight of the buds. If so I will have to quit moving them around. I always move them once a day to try and give them even light. There's quite a bit of variance with the lux meter from the front to the back. I also pull them out of the tent every watering to inspect them. Maybe I'm just over thinking the light situation.

They do snap over and kink alot .. Some 4' or 3' Bamboo poles and tie wire is what I use. That way they are still movable. I use that plastic coated twist wire, you can buy it on E-Ba-- cheap for a roll. It works great to hold up your colas. They also have things like yo-yos but then your tied to the ceiling. Growing the same strain teaches ya what the buds are going to do. Some plants support themselves well,, other like shit and need tons of help. I try to stay away from the real hard ones. But I do tie up all my main branches as soon as stretch ends. Alot easier than than after all the buds form. I do all because I almost always grow different strains and I don't know whats going to happen. I'm trying to growem all... JK NOT Keepem Green

Hey killian in my old journal toward the end i show how i supported the branched from underneat attached to the pot with string super easy and allows you to move the plants in and out no problem!

I know exactly what your talking about. I seen it on amazon and was going to get some for training future grows. I will get the materials and stake them up. Thank you.

Found it!

Thanks for your input lootznbootz. I actually have ties on my plants similar to yours from training. I never took them off. They do help support the plant. Great minds think alike lol. I was more concerned about the buds getting to heavy and breaking the branches. Wood has an excellent idea for supporting them and still being able to move them around. Now for a trip to the garden center. I have one local that sells just about everything.
