Keith's Real Second Grow - Banana Jealousy

Hello all been raining all day my plants are waterlogged so I got my son's blower and tried it real low. Well, I went out with a flashlight and checked them as I stated they are indeed water soaked. I will get at them in the morning when I can see better. It will be partly sunny tomorrow and warmer thank God. a couple weeks to go and rain it sucks. This is the worst time of growing for me it all comes down to couple weeks. In any case I hope everyone had a good day and a better night. Later Happy growing. 🍋

Hey Keith! :high-five: First, I sure hope your back is still mending. :hug:Gentle Hugs:hug:

As for all the rain… I saw a couple ppl putting a tarp cover over their plants when it rained. But I wondered if you had, or could borrow a … looking for what they are called, shelter covers, or tent tops basically. Gees I hate when I can’t think of words! We had one we would set up when camping to be above to cover the picnic table, coolers, grill, etc. WTF are they called? Anyway, ours moved pretty easy. It held up the winds, but not strong winds. But it was easy to move and pop the legs up/down and it kept things dry under it.

Just a thought - and not even a complete one!
Get well.

Thanks @con I am up and moving which I am happy for my back has settled down some. The damn rain has my plants soaked I shook the branches and tried the blower not sure the blower really helped. Have a good day con. 🍋
I like the blower idea. Now you just need a stylist.
This got me to thinking about bud washing. I know Shed washes his outdoor plants in buckets after harvest. Do you think you could just spray them in place with the hose before harvest and get the same effect?

Highya KL,

The last two weeks are always the hardest to endure, outside! Wind storms, hurricanes, bud rot weather, are all worrisome just when the buds are finishing up. We may get lucky this year without much of any of the above. I always shake vigorously the morn after rain. Works okay, that and the sun! Glad yours are still upright! Hoping for the best! Happy Smokin'

Dr Shed (not a doctor) here to remind you that acetaminophen is good for pain, but ibuprofen (Advil) is good for inflammation pain (like a sore back). And you can take both at the same time if you need to.

I'm sure that an actual medical professional (like Tra) will be able to offer better advice though!
Dr Tra (not a doctor) Totes agrees with Dr Shed (not a doctor).

And I’m no medical professional lol. I just work with them.

There are a couple of things you can do once your inflammation settles. If you’re overweight lose a bit, and if you don’t do regular exercise, try and incorporate a walk and some stretches in your everyday life.

Worst thing you can do for a bad back is lay or sit a lot and bad bending. There’s good bending techniques and bad bending techniques.

You’ll be back to banging in no time :)

:high-five:Hey Keith! Hope the plants got dried out and hope you are feeling better. Sending🌞

:high-five:Hey Shed! You were on the money. There are a lot of different types and names, EZ Canopy, EZ Pop Up, Tent Canopy, Pop Up Gazebo, tent tarp, etc.

I am taking a smoke break from cleaning and it kept bugging me, so I found one like we had, it’s sturdier than many, waterproof, comes in different sizes and depending on size, once you figure out how, it is easy to set up for one person, just takes a bit of walking from one side to the other to get the poles up. Not that you are interested in this, Keith, but maybe something similar could be done cheaper that would work for you. I know the rain is what causes you the most trouble and it’s just a damn shame if we can’t help you figure out something that works so your harvests aren’t so worrisome.

This is a link to a 6’x6’ sturdy one like ours (but smaller) for $70, but this size wouldn’t cover all your plants, just one.

Not meaning to push at all, just finishing my brain storming thoughts from last night!
Hope you and your girls are good today!

:high-five:Back again…
Just a quick note on taking 2 types of OTC anti-inflammatory meds. As a (retired) nurse, we always separated 2 types with hours between.
For example:
If both are 4-6 hours between doses. Let’s say Tylenol and Advil. Take Tylenol dose and 2 hours later take Advil dose, alternating every 2-3 hours as needed.
They recommend this because of how meds metabolize in your system. If both are metabolized by the kidneys or by the liver, it’s much better to take at separate times rather than overwork your organs by taking them together.
@Trala was right on with all other advice! :high-five:
Dammit… back to work…
