Keffka's Recycling, KOS Blue Thai, Herbies Seeds Apple Betty, Runtz Punch

The top filters are 6 months old, the bottom ones are brand new. 30$ to filter all that crap for 6 months isn’t a bad deal at all.

That’s what’s going in your containers for growing, cups for drinking, pots for cooking, and buckets for cleaning. This is tap water that comes out at 80 ppm before filtering which is on the better side for a lot of cities.

Yikes.

I know seeing that dry soil makes you happy @GainesvilleGreen don’t get used to it, that’s just solo cups 🤣

We’ll see though because the Herbies Seeds seem to prefer a wet dry cycle while the Blue Thai is thrilled to be alive period

I kinda keep the soil moist with my seedlings because my RH says pretty low and I never foliar spray. Which I probably should in the seedling stage.
In promix after that they go on wet/dry cycle through the entire grow. Especially late in flower.
I recently added another 5% runoff and they seem to respond better but it takes another day to dry out. Which you don't have to worry about being in organic soil.
Cheers bud, everything looks dialed in.

Appreciate it!

I’m in the sweet spot for weather right now so I’m not being super crazy about the seedlings.. the humidity is high enough that it stays at 60 naturally so they’re doing well.

Day 12.. I’m gonna shift the light to 14/10.. Everyone loved their fish and seaweed

I used a 1/4 tsp in a 1/4 gallon for 50 ppms.

The Runtz Punch is happy again. Everyone looks good.. I’m thinking about pushing them to three weeks in the solo to eek out just a little more soil cook time. We’ll see

Thanks Stone! To be fair though, seedling is the easiest stage for me.. I don’t have to do much and they haven’t been around long enough for me to have done much damage 😂

Some times I think I am 😂

I’m pretty sure this isn’t the first body my consciousness has inhabited
I have inhabited many different bodies but it was always consensual🤣

Thanks for the reminder! Mine are overdue for a change! I have a whole house sediment filter before my ro rig so they should see little to no silt.

Oh boy.. I can only image what the whole house filter is gonna look like. Is it one of those tall ones, almost the size of a human?

Reminds me of the joke about trying to stuff 10lbs of (-----) in a 5 lb bag.

I avoided the guanos this time, but next time, this will be even more accurate 😂

Although I did use EWC so it still is pretty on the nose lol

Day 15.. good coloring.. great growth.. I’m pleased with what I’m seeing. I do believe I’m seeing the beginnings of Mg calls.. I think I’ll give a foliar of epsom salt while I top dress some EWC.. I don’t really want to water them with DL (Dolomite lime) water just yet and it will take too long for a top dress to work. Since Mg is a very mobile element and we’re already seeing a call for it*, a foliar spray works very well without having to worry about balancing the Ca in the medium. The EWC will handle any Ca issues I have since every casting is coated in Ca.

*if you see a deficiency that means the plant has already been deficient in it long enough it’s beginning to show, this is why a foliar also works well for us Organic folks. We don’t have to wait on top dressings to take effect which can take 7-14 days to show.

They’re all calling for water currently, you can see their first finger leaves slightly wilted

I’ve been having trouble keeping my temps steady at night for lights on (too cold) so I tried to turn the light to 50%, lower the plants to the floor, in the corner, (2.5 feet lower in the weakest corner) and decrease lights on by an hour. Theoretically this should’ve been fine since the DLI was the same. This wasn’t fine. As can be seen, the serrations lifted slightly giving a sharp look to some of the leaves. They’ve cupped beyond praying and there is a faint yellowing around the edges of the leaves, which is slightly different looking than a mg deficiency. The coloring of the new growth is unnaturally bright and so I expect to see some minor light burn on it as well.

I was really trying to push them another week but I’m not sure they’ll make it. They’re looking hungrier every day.

I’m gonna prep the one and two gallon fabric pots for transplant asap. This will give the rest of the soil some more time to cook in the big bin. There really shouldn’t be any issue with the soil being not fully cooked since I did not use the full amount of minerals with the fresh soil and I have had the bins in a very warm room and have turned it often.

For prepping my containers, @Gee64 what do you think about me sprinkling a little SRP beneath a thin layer of perlite where I will be setting my root ball down on? My thinking is, the myco will find the source relatively early and give it time to mine and store it for bloom.

As long as myco and microbes can find it, it will get processed. The sooner you start the better. Just don't use too much SRP.

The sooner you hit the seedlings with intense light and air flow the faster they will get going and thicken up. And I always bury seedling right up to the cotyledon leaves so no need to support. Before and after transplant.

I usually don’t have an issue but I went with 12/12 for the first 10 days without thinking about the loss of 6 hours of light. I set everything (light, distance to light, etc.) like I was sprouting at 16/8, which is ironic because the entire thing I was concerned with when we first started running 12/12 for early sex was the loss of light hours. I only had problems with one of the plants stretching so it’s likely a taller pheno alongside the loss of light. The other plants stems are noticeably thicker. I braced the others since I was doing a foliar and they tend to lean when I do it this early.

I haven’t transplanted yet but when I do they’ll be getting buried to the cotys. I too do this since I have limited height to begin with and it’s a simple way to get a couple more inches.

I always run fans on my plants.. Always. I’m a big believer in throwing as much fresh oxygen at the plants and their roots as I can. That’s part of why I have all the holes in my solo cups.. The lack of airflow at the roots was forcing me to cut more perlite into my mix than I wanted until @Gee64 and @Azimuth brought up using a soldering iron for quick, strong holes. If they made fabric solos I’d probably buy those 😂

I have been thinking lately about germinating in the smaller trays and transplanting into solos so I can get a faster germination. Currently it takes a minimum of 3 days, closer to 4, for my plants to germinate in a solo.. It’d be nice to get them up quicker and be able to throw a little extra food into the solos.

Thanks for stopping by the journal, any other tips or questions you’ve got are always welcome. I’m a big fan of having more experienced growers around while I work.

I do not veg plants much unless I am taking clones from them then they get killed and a new clone replaces that so called mother. I flower only clones now in small containers. Seed plants get cloned then culled purely for size of plants they get to big I want a miniature forest of flowers less than two feet tall with even canopy. Theres a 20 inch box fan hung above the lights in the grow tent.
