Jon's Sneak It In Auto Grow

Here’s Watermelon Wedding Cake #2. Just got done training her two minutes ago, she’s not back up yet.

I have never done any training of plants. I am too afraid I would break all the stems.

Let’s Get Serious About The Blurple Closet

I made a change or two. @Hafta, how do you like my jury-rigged side lighting in veg using the Maxsisun blurple to compliment the NextLight 420h? You’ve obviously got me 100% sold.

So here we go. These are two spoiled-ass autos, I’ll tell you that. But wow they must be so happy right now.

The 420h is at 100%. At this height, without the side light, she hits the plants at 700 ppfd. The side light is non-adjustable, so I use distance. I have it set so that with the side light only the side it’s shining on is getting 650 ppfd. So basically we’re at 650-700 in 360 degrees (including plant rotating).

A fool could see this situation destroys the predecessor.

It’s my last Florida grow. I’m going all out. I’m bleeding all over the floor for this grow. You won’t see it, but my feet take a pounding. I mean I am LITERALLY bleeding for this grow.

@Jon
Masterful !
This is the perfect use of the blurples IMO.
Once you harvest the results you will never go back.
I can't wait to see your new set-up once you move. It is a lot easier to set things up with an empty grow chamber.
I have a couple of ideas for easily setting up a tent for side lights. I'll sketch something and post a photo.

Platinum Mimosa Cookies #1
Day 29

This chick is an absolute beast. In 29 days? Whoa. She looks washed out in the picture but she’s a gorgeous green in real life.

Pink Rozay
Day 25

She has the pad to herself today. Ok, so besides the beautiful bud photo in the marketing, I also tried this strain for its properties in general. One of Blimburn’s claims that intrigued me was they said this strain has a terrific rate of growth. I saw the first signs of this on Day 2 - really - she came up raring to go. She has definitely lived up to that billing.

Two days ago I posted a picture with a ruler and she was exactly 12” tall. Today she’s 16” tall. We’re basically rocking two inches of growth a day! I consider that significant.

She’s a long, stretchy thing with very long internodal spacing and minimal side branching. She’s obviously not a yielder, this is weed you grow for the sake of the strain. But it does appear she’ll be a super easy trim. Gorgeous lime green plant with medium sized fans.

I’m wondering how big she’ll get before we see pistils. Blimburn says four weeks of veg time. That’s basically over Saturday. So we’ll see. I can’t wait to see her buds.

Looks real good.

Constant Stress Training, using weights. Click on the link in my signature.
@Hafta - I read a bunch of it yesterday and it’s interesting as hell - we differ on some stuff (I hate the weights, you likely hate the stakes), but mostly I’m in awe. Not to kiss your ass but you’re a master. It’s an amazing technique. I will say that it only works as effectively as it does because of the side lights. In my opinion (and based on two seconds of experience, lol) they are the key to the whole thing. Since you very cruelly talked me into side lights, defoliation has literally become a full time job. Jerk. But it shows me how the technique works. It’s hard for people to wrap their heads around taking upper leaves. It’s not how we learn usually. But everything you say it does, it does. My number of viable tops has multiplied almost exponentially just since starting the sides lights. And I was already naturally taking top leaves as to me it always made sense. Let the shoots get light and suddenly they’re viable as hell! The big fans at the bottom will power her up. Last night I spread out massively and “skeletonized” the Dos Si Dos. Already today you can hardly tell. It’s truly insane. My canopies are going to be so damn full. So thanks so much for your guidance and teaching. These go in the permanent/important file.

I also get why you do one plant at a time. If I had the space I would have done a lot more with the growth. I could easily fill a 5x5 using this method. And I have the space to let her get a few nodes more of stem than you to start. I may try it. But one plant like you’re growing is a TON of work!

The best kinda posts there. Learn off others and see what works for you. Say thanks after.

Also yeah - people have talked me into a load of weird stuff I’ve complained about. Tricked me, dared me, threatened me.

Always seems to have mostly worked out though 😂

I’d like to add “manipulated” “teased” “I’ll show them” and “Old Fashioned Reedin’” into the reason I’ve done crazy stuff growing cannabis!

Apple Fritter
Day 24

I think at this point you can clearly see what Sombrero training is. This Apple Fritter Sombrero Quad is a pretty solid example. Below you see her overall form. Our four mains are going to be long. And as you can see in the lower ring picture, I decided to leave both sides as they were, ie, three giant colas on each side. Obviously I’ve pulled them out - the point is to get them wide enough to way clear the four mains in the middle. Doesn’t matter outside but under the lights they gotta be clear so as to not get light blocked. And a lot of times I would have topped these side branches to create a full ring around the bottom. This time we’re going for big buds. I will have exactly ten if she flowers now. They should be very large.

Sombrero, man. Easiest form of training to pull off for me. Minimal effort, maximum results. In a perfect world. Lol.

Closely related to Mexican on a bicycle training, I believe I read

🤣

(Bugger now that’s me trying to do that!)

John - pick a strain! In my solo grow. I’ll do Mexican on bicycle training on it.

As the sage Taylor Swift sings

“Look what you made me do”

But if tou draw the age old line diagram its not half bad design for a plant. For a multi cola def with side lighting?

@NickHardy - wow! Really? If you mean it, I’m game for sure. Well, not sure of all the choices but I’d go with a stretchy sativa myself. Cool!

Edit: Mexican on a bicycle training.
