Jon's Outdoor Winter Photoperiod Grow

@Jon
Thanks, it sort of answers the question.
I asked because I am currently growing a photo and it has been above ground (clay pebbles) for about six weeks. I also will flip it when it looks right so I don't operate by a schedule either.
Since we grow using totally different methods, at the moment, I thought it would be interesting to compare plants of similar age. Mine will probably be flipped in 10 - 14 days.
If the plants moved themselves we would all be searching for exorcists.
Ha. Hey that’s a cool idea: I’m looking at around two weeks for mine too. You have a hydro thing going on I guess? Mine’s in coco/perlite/bokashi/frass. Good comparison. Wanna post your plant here and get it started and we can comment and ask questions and such back and forth?

Sounds like fun. I rushed and took a few photos. She's a little squirrely trying to recover from this afternoon's training session.

This is a photoperiod Blue Dream feminized 42 days AG (above ground)
Grown in a cabinet using sterile hydro with nutrients from a non-sponsor.
Cabinet temp range is 85* F during the day and 73* F at lights out.
Lights are on a 20/4 schedule.
Reservoir temp ranges from 73* - 77*F. I use a slow release peroxide to prevent root issues caused by elevated temps.
It is being trained via Skirted CST. The goal is a domed basket full of buds.
It has been stressed by intense LED since sprouting (never more than 12" from lights)
It has seen >350 watts full spectrum LEDs @ 8" since second set of true leaves. This created an issue that took several weeks to correct due to the extreme measures required (everything in hydro is extreme and immediate, except when you are looking for results of your adjustments). This plant is consuming three times the recommended amount of CalMag! It takes a while when you have to wait or new growth to show the effects. You can see some of the brown spots on the older leaves.

Wow!! Look at that beautiful thing! Damn, excellent job on both the evenness of the dispersion of colas, as well as the number of viable sites. The side lighting is definitely an advantage. I will be doing something similar only mine will have to be a flat top vs. your bushy beauty. When I post on this later I’ll include the same data you did. You’re a couple weeks ahead of me now that I see her. WoW again!!! Thanks @Hafta!

Tropicanna Banana
Veg

She’s beginning to take shape. Wish the topped branches grew faster. Lol. We will get her to the point of as wide an octagon spread as possible and fill in as we go. The end result should be a flat top canopy that looks something like a scrog without the net. When that’s ready to go she’ll go outside to flower with the Mandarin Zkittlez. I’m keeping these photos relatively smallish and low on purpose for a couple reasons…
- the sheer physicality of moving many plants around a lot with the associated lifting and such is a lot of work for me, and smaller plants are less likely to suffer a catastrophic accident in moving…
- the wind here is constant almost and always blows on the plants, so smaller plants require less wind measures, ie, work….
They still all end up around 4-5 feet tall, so they aren’t exactly small. Just not monsters.

Anyway, here’s the girl on this Saturday. Btw - she’s all of this:
Tropicanna Banana
Barney’s Farm
Photoperiod
Fed with Prescription Blend nutes.
Additives in flower include Terpinator, molasses, and Fox Farms Bembe, and she gets 40% MSA every other feeding along with the occasional shot of Fox Farms Microbe Brew and top dressings of bokashi and frass.
Light is non sponsored operating at 100% @550 watts and ppfd is around 800, on a 20/4 light cycle.
Medium is coco/perlite/bokashi/frass, layered a la @Bill284.
Pot size is 7 gallons.

Here’s our baby.

She's gorgeous.
Some additional info on my little girl .........

I also use MSA at res change and every third watering. The little lady is drinking a couple of gallons per day.
I defoliate two or three times per day. I removed thirty-five leaves this morning. I always remove more than fifty per day.
Yesterday I raised the lights from 8" to 12" to get a little stretch before flip. I am within 6" of the cabinet walls so I will need to let her grow vertically soon.

Here's a shot of today's root system.

Wow. So there’s a contrast worth pointing out and exactly why this was such a good idea. That’s an insane amount of defoliation. It would never be possible in coco. This shows how much greater the rate of growth is in hydro, as well as how effectively the bushy plant itself aids in its own growth - being that bushy and cola laden, in 360 degrees, provides a TON of sites to leaf up, and then she just grows faster. Right? It’s crazy. You’re almost keeping the plant under control, lol, so it doesn’t swallow your house!

And our newest addition, her first time on the big stage, please help me give a warm welcome to our friend, Ms. Crescendo!

Crescendo RBx1

Here’s what allbud says about Crescendo:

Crescendo Marijuana Strain Sativa Dominant Hybrid 80% Sativa / 20% Indica

THC: 30% - 35%

Crescendo is an sativa dominant hybrid strain (80% sativa/20% indica) created through crossing the infamous I-95 X Chemdawg X Mandarin Cookies strains. Named for the musical term, Crescendo brings on a high that builds and builds until you hit the point of pure happiness and ease. The high comes on with a creeping effect, slowly seeping its way into both mind and body with an expansive happiness, filling you with a tingly lifted effect that has you feeling as light as air. A sense of euphoria accompanies this tingle, leaving you giddy and giggly at times. A relaxing body high accompanies this lifted state, helping your physical form stay anchored as your mind flies higher and higher. With these effects and its insanely high 30-35% average THC level, Crescendo is often chosen to treat conditions such as chronic pain, depression, chronic stress or anxiety, insomnia and mood swings. Crescendo buds have oversized bright neon green fluffy spade-shaped nugs with long thin orange hairs and a thick frosty coating of tiny white crystal trichomes. As you pull apart each sparkling little nugget, aromas of sweet woods and chemicals are released with a touch of berry, too. The flavor is on the sweeter side, with ripe berries and sweet woods dancing across your tongue.

It absolutely accelerates growth.

Did you ever watch Fantasia when Mickey Mouse put on the Sorcerer's hat and got the brooms going? I can't afford NOT to defoliate during veg.

Very few people believe the number of leaves I remove daily. The real trick is to develop FAR TOO MANY roots and provide enough light to promote ridiculous growth. The plant thinks it is normal to lose fifty or more leaves per day. The real impressive part is when I stop defoliating three weeks after flip and it uses all those extra roots to make flowers.

It might be interesting to see what would happen without defoliating? Maybe not, I like my house.

Seems to me what you have going on works fabulously well, I agree with you - if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

This is the highest rated thc level plant I have ever grown. Very curious to see what happens with her. 30-35%? They start at 30%? Ok, show me.

@Jon

Mine was topped after the 3+ node (I count the non-typical leaves as a +)

When was your "octo" topped?

I go either one or two more. This one was topped above 4, and the two first node little branches have been removed.

Today we say hello to our only auto in this grow. This is day one for our Platinum Mimosa Cookies. I’m going to do something water with her, just not sure what yet. I have a couple days to figure it out. But since on autos we do count all days, here’s day one.
