Jon's Outdoor Winter Photoperiod Grow

Crescendo
Veg

Weird plant. Still trying to figure this one out. When the uppermost node is out enough that’s our topping spot (above node 5). Then we up pot her.

Hi @Rexer -

We were talking a little bit about our love for well cured kief…here’s a little focus thing for you.

This is my scrog kief. Not sure if we knew each other yet when I did my very first Scrog attempt. I believe it was my 2nd grow, and maybe my first journal here. Anyway, the whole scrog ended up going hermie after it was already well into flower and the entire thing was wasted. But not quite. I took all the seedy buds from the entire scrog (covered a 5x5, a lot of bud that was only a few weeks away) and I kiefed them. Just due to the volume of material I ended up with a ton of kief, my only kief made from all bud, vs. just from trim and sugar leaves. I’ve given away a ton of it, but still have this large jar left.

See how it’s almost brown? When it was harvested it was almost white it was so clean. Very light in color. Now, about a year and a half or so later, it has turned this lovely dark amber shade. It stinks like sour fruit. Officially the strains that comprise it are Blueberry Muffin, Pineapple Upside Down Cake, and Jelly Rancher, all Humboldt Seed Company strains. It’s become very sweet compared to how it started. The fruit is extremely forward, and now it has acquired a sort of perfumey taste. Since the buds were a little early it keeps the sheer power of it to a manageable level - way stronger than just weed, but not as strong as some of my kief from mature buds. So it can be used as a topper without weighing you down, and has a very good pain management effect. I’m finding that kief toppers are a trade off - it increases the pain management in an awesome way, but it also destroys my already ridiculous tolerance. Lmao.

Anyway, here it is. Thought you’d appreciate a little Tuesday kief convo. Lol!

Beautiful kief photos Jon!

And you hit the nail on the head. From the perfumey smell, to the way it hits. I've found it to be a more up lifting buzz that really smooths the pain.

My kief stash has gotten a bit low. When I run low on weed and cash, I break out the kief. I'll use it as toppers, or my personal favorite is to compress it in a pollen press (25$), and then smoke the rock hard hash in a bowl. Burns forever, and is incredibly smooth.
When I'm almost out of kief, and weed, I'll break out the Airizer Extreme Q vape tower, and use the vape bags. Changes the buzz a bit, and stretches that kief incredibly- while still knocking you on your ass.

All my kief gets mixed together. As soon as my buddies box tray is full- into the kief container it goes. I don't use the box to shake the kief off (though I have done that on more than a few occasions, and never take enough off to truly effect the smoke). I just use the box to dump the weed from the grinder into it, the dumping action alone shakes a bit of kief off.

Oh, and if you don't already do it....toss a boveda in with the kief.

(Two months ago that container was almost full).

And now I want to smoke some kief

Awesome. Thanks! I never thought to put a pack in with the kief!

Topping and Uppotting

Today she’s been topped and now will go into her 7-gallon final home. You can see the juicy, ready-made quad underneath too.

@Jon
Nice work and your veg tent looks great.

Today is day 46 AG for the Blue Dream. I thought I'd show some before and after photos.

These photos are a couple of hours after lights on and before this morning's CST session. This happens every day until after the third week of flower, more or less.

And then I removed these .....

BD22 D46-6.JPG

There are sixty of them. I don't normally count, just pluck.

This is what she looked like after defoliation and before weight training.

This takes place a couple of more times per day, although the morning defoliation is by far the most aggressive. The following ones are to expose more tops after the plant has recovered from the CST session (the tops will turn towards the lights after being bent by the weights).

Stunting the height does not mean stunting the growth. Most plants won't survive losing 300 - 400 leaves per week.

Hi @Jon how are you? You recently cut back a wonderful white widow plant. Do you have any tips on what will work for her to do well? I have it from Barnys Farm and it is the White Widow XXL photo version.
Hi @Kanno26 - how are you man? My White Widow was an auto. She got Prescription Blend nutes in veg and Blue Planet in flower, all by the book. I kept her in the mid to upper 70s by day and upper 60s overnight. Her RH was pretty lowish, averaging around 40% in flower. And I kept the light as strong as I could. Just normal stuff really, I didn’t do anything special. The plant did all the work! So that’s probably not a whole lot of help but I’ve seen your process and I would think she’ll do just fine doing what you normally do. You have a good handle on light/temperature/humidity now, and training as well. Just do what you do, you’ll do great. If you’re going to journal that, if you wouldn’t mind tagging me I’d appreciate it.

Thanks for the explanation/update @Hafta - very nice. I have a question. The colas that are currently all the way at the floor. I see how your plants end up. Those colas somehow seem to find their way to the canopy. Or do you remove some of the lowermost ones?

What up Jon. Figure I would pop over check things. Make a round another words.
Hi @7Dust2, how you be man? Hope all is well. You ain’t missing anything here.

Thanks for the tip @Jon, I'll definitely tag you but I've already tagged you a few times and I don't know if it got to you😉 if the link is in the signature.
