Mimosa
Flower Day 19
One of the reasons I was on hermie watch with this girl was because she was touching a plant that turned out to be male. Despite its prompt removal it got my antenna up. The other reason is that she has gone through several changes in terms of environment. She began in this 5x5 under 550 watts of full spectrum, then got switched to the closet indoors, still under full spectrum, but the spectrum of the 420h is very different from my light, and her available wattage dropped to 420. She also dealt with the change in overnight temperature and humidity in general. In the tent she lives at 74-76, and about 40-45% RH. In the closet it’s more like 76-78 and 55-65% RH. And the closet never changes, vs the tent getting cold, ie, low 60s/upper 50s overnight. AND I threw red light into the mix in the closet. Despite the fact that my big monster incorporates red lights in flower mode, those are very different reds compared to the blurple reds she got in the closet. Think Ferrari vs Junker. And now she’s back in the 5x5, now under 680 watts including reds, far reds, IR, and a touch of UV, at the environmental conditions as just stated.
All that is kind of like going from great to great to great - but it’s a lot of change. In my experience, sometimes just change, ie, lack of consistency, can cause a plant to hermie. So I’ve been watching and I feel okay to now deem her totally okay and adjusted to the last change. She is certainly, as @InTheShed pointed out, 100% female (and perfect) at the moment.
And now she’s in the best single reality I am currently able to create with the technology on hand. If you’re a pot plant, this 5x5 is where you might want to go on vacation. Don’t be intimidated. It looks scary but it’s actually life changing. You’ll love it. And your visit is on me. Trust me…it is.
So here’s our girl, finally in bud after a very lengthy stretch that saw her double (+).

I've got a couple of pot plants but if I come down to stay in the tent on vacation you need to guarantee me that I'll get 12 hours of continuous sleep just like your plants.
Nice and clean down under so plenty of room for boarders!

Yes, full on male.Before I pull it I need confirmation, but I’m 99% sure this is a male plant. This is not how buds are supposed to begin forming. Anyone disagree?

I got away with it. You know what was crazy? I watch the nodes like a hawk. Those seeds did not exist the day before. Or at least they didn’t look like that.
Those weren't seeds buts rather male flower pods that house a number of male flowers.
Good that you caught it before they (burst) open. The pollen is so light it carries in the air with ease.
Shame you didn't have a use for pollen to paint future buds. That was a nice looking plant.

Damn, didn’t see that coming @InTheShed, touché. I guess I’ll have to bite the bullet and actually clean the floor of the tent.I've got a couple of pot plants but if I come down to stay in the tent on vacation you need to guarantee me that I'll get 12 hours of continuous sleep just like your plants.

Why thank you @Azimuth, I appreciate that education. I see. Well, they spring up quickly. And as the Mimosa proves, I did indeed catch them before they popped (that was only one, all the larger branches were like that at the nodes). I’m pretty sure I got them on the first morning of their showing. The Mimosa was literally touching it in the closet, so I’m 99% sure that by now I’d be seeing it if the Mimosa got pollinated. Hence the “I got away with it.” Lol.

I’m really liking this little girl now, she’s made quite the comeback. And I can’t remember the last time I let a main cola go without topping it. All I’ve done to this plant is pull the lower branches out and defoliate a little. It’ll be fun to watch her bud out. And I will revise my first impression - she’ll definitely give me a lot more than half an ounce. Maybe 1 1/2 to 2!

First Impressions/Early Smoke Report
Hmm…how to describe this bud…
Ok, so far, I get these:
- fruit (undefined, a little citrus-y)
- gas (a touch more than a touch)
- mint (yup, a taste on the exhale)
- earthiness (more on the inhale)
There’s a lot more in there, I can already taste it beginning to change. Smooth smoke even this early into the cure - no cough. Medium density smoke with decent “heft,” if that makes sense. Strong - easily mid 20s, if I tested it I’d guess it’s around 27-28%. Strong enough to be one hit weed for me first bong hit of the day. Immediately mood enhancing. Very smiley bud. Up. More sativa than indica for sure. Very tasty.
Nice bud. Can’t wait to taste it in a month. And it smells like a dream. Like a more sweet, more pungent Cookies hybrid. Powerful odor.

Reminiscing Day
Nothing new to show you for a bit, but I took a walk today and it got me reminiscing. Molly and I went and walked my old street, passing by my first Florida address.
This is the site of my first ever grow.
In the garages below I set up my first 5x5, along with my first lights. Two Maxsisun blurples which were sold as 1200 watt but pulled 256 each. So 512 watts on my first grow. Six eight gallon plastic pots. Seeds planted directly into those pots. No training. Very little defoliation. Plants were way too big when I flipped them. I ended up tying down several colas.
Here are the few remaining photos from that grow - the one that started it all - Pineapple Upside Down Cake dispensary bag seed from a 31% thc eighth. 5 of the 6 finished, I had to pull one and got lucky.

I got 10 1/2 ounces of buds like that one finished bud pic, and a virtual ton on flarf. But man was it good weed!
