Grow Day 110
Flower Day 40

I can't think of anything to say about these girls. The Hulkster and the GTH both got week 10 of FF nutes this week. They both get flushed per the FF chart at the end of the week. We are basically on autopilot here. These guys are simply loving life, throwing their colors everywhere on the buds, and starting to show on the leaves. Of course save the Slurricane who is already showing fireworks. All the plants are super frosty. My tent officially stinks. I can smell it when I walk into the garage and that's with a brand new 6" AC Infinity top of the line Australian charcoal filter and AC Infinity 6" exhaust fan, lol. Not a stealth grow by any means. They are drinking on the same schedules, surprisingly, and that's about a gallon every two days. I fed them Monday, today they were bone dry. Clean water day. Feed again Friday. Flush Sunday. Sweet.

VERY impressed by the performance of Sohum relative to photos if the Slurricane is any indication.

My light I can't discuss ROCKS.

Here's the fireworks, with the flower boosters off, actual colors pictures, all of these except picture 4

Lastly, just for fun, and to remind us from whence we came, is a picture of the Slurricane on Day One. LOL.

Here's some Porn of a Different Variety....Sort Of.....Lmao!

So it was time to burp the jars in the morning and I thought you guys might appreciate a picture of the part of my jar collection that's in play so far after harvesting the two Sour Apples and one Chunkadelic autoflowers. I have worked very hard on this jar collection for a while now, and if there's anything I'm proud of that I own that's a material thing, besides my bass, it might be this jar collection. Since there's no sponsor selling these here, I think it'll be okay for me to say that these are Infinity Jars, and for my money, the best curing jars that exist. I won't post a link or extol their virtues in case it's too much, but I encourage you, if you aren't already aware of these, to check them out online. Look for the tomato test video. It basically shows a ripe, red tomato, put into one of these jars, and left for six months. At the end of that time the tomato is still red and looks almost exactly like it did when it went into the jar. One of the huge upsides for me is that they are completely light proof and smell proof. So I don't have to constantly go to a dark closet to find my stash. It can sit anywhere, light is immaterial. They obviously take stickers well too. Expensive, yes, but I believe the cure is so essential to the process and your end product, as we all do (or should, lol), that it's worth it to me to not have to use crappy mason jars. All that said, I do not own enough of these jars to contain what is to come shortly. Lol.

Anyone want some Chunkadelic? I have tons and I need to free up some jars for some real weed....

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

- Jar collection so far in play (the real little one is Sour Apple kief, the smaller one you can't see the label on is the first Sour Apple auto, the rest you can read I think)
- Jars open from the top (you can put your WEED in it....LOL!)
- Gratuitous picture I tossed in for the @420 moderators to make them smile and show that I have put every single part of the GJOM prize pack to good use!

Enjoy!!!

What am I going to tell you? You have eyes. Check out the third picture of the very lowest, flarfiest, sure to end up in the Trim Bin bud on the base of a stem housing a real bud at the top. This is how low the frost goes on the Slurricane, and they're pretty much all three like that, but especially the Slurricane. Oh yeah....the Hulkberry buds are huge and dense and falling over around the edges in some places from their own weight. There's a picture to show you. What a horrible problem to have. Lol. I gotta figure out how to support them and pull them up a little from underneath. Other than that we're copacetic. Let's get to the porn.

GHOST TRAIN HAZE (and a bit of reflection, thanks for the indulgence guys....)
A Beginning List of Things I've Done Right (I think, lol....)
Grow Day 103
Flower Day 43

Well, the Frost Train has officially pulled into the station. And she's pulling the Color Caboose, which is starting to make her own share of noise.

Guys, this is my third grow. I have never grown a plant or plants anywhere NEAR as sweet as these three photos are. Not even close. I recall saying the same thing my last grow about Sadie, the Jelly Rancher I got to turn dark purple and gave me the best medicine I've grown yet. But these three are a different level of plant. These are what it's supposed to be. What I'm trying to grow. Or at least a hell of a lot closer to my aspirations than I have ever gotten in the past. This is starting to look like it might be real medicine. I may go as far as to buy a 5 ton press. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop cuz I'm new enough to this that I'm in that place where I'm like, it can't possibly be this good cuz I am not capable of doing what I'm seeing, when is something going to go wrong... Lol. I'm honestly not trying to "brag" or anything dumb and ego-oriented like that stupid bullsh--. I just honestly can't believe it. And I know lots of you grow much sweeter plants. But for me this is as good as I've been able to pull of yet, by far. There are a couple factors that make this so that I have identified so far, which I intend to take with me forward forever. A few of these are:

- Ph every drop of water to regular soil or bagged organic soil plants to 6.3. Period.
- Use MSA in veg
- Keep the environment consistent and never let the plants see 80 degrees
- Use cooler daytime temps in flower and engage reds on day one of flower
- Defoliate as little as possible but enough to facilitate air flow and light to all buds as much as possible - you need the leaves more than you think - my days of having nothing but buds left at the end are over....This is very much thanks to @Bill284, who helped me realize that leaves grow back so take what you need, but don't go nuts. Takes a grow or two to learn how to dial this skill in properly, or it has for me. Thanks Bill.
- Have TONS of air flow from everywhere without creating wind burn, whatever it takes
- Use Fox Farms nutes AS DIRECTED. Do not change their feed amounts. It's a system, designed to work and be used as a system. If you use it as such, whether it's just the top 3 of Big Bloom, Grow Big, and Tiger Bloom, or if you integrate the middle or bottom of the feed chart, ie, the Cha-Ching, Beastie Bloomz, and Open Sesame (bottom of chart in purple), or the several ingredients of the middle too (orange section of chart in middle), it will work perfectly, or at least it has on my Hulkberry and Ghost Train Haze. A hybrid and a primarily sativa and both love the chart as directed. I am using the top 3 base and the bottom 3 ingredients of the chart in purple. Next time I'll get all the ingredients for the middle and really get the magic out of the system as it's intended. I have not one blemish. I would never have done this if it weren't for @Emilya, and it was awesome advice. As was her insistence that I use 6.3 as the PH target. Thanks E. Continuing to send good vibes to you and yours.
- Use minimal and very targeted non-organic additives for flower in organic soil like Sohum, but VERY sparingly
- Don't use Cal Mag as a preventative, use it only when needed
- Load the plants up with carbs starting when you see buds, not in veg.
- Stay out of the tent as much as humanly possible
- ALWAYS give a clean water feeding after a nute feeding

All of these things I did on this grow with these photos, and as you have seen, all are incredibly healthy and developing exactly as they're supposed to. No blemishes. Barely even a yellow, "wow, that was a lot of nutes" leaf tip. Buds are getting way frosty and colorful. I mean, why would I not continue to do those things?

This Ghost Train Haze is one of the stinkier plants I have grown. I just took a few leaves from the undercarriage, and checked the buds and got inside her a bit to check for little piles of smashed together leaves and such, and after three or four minutes of that my fingers stuck together hard, and they stink. The smell is pure HAZE DANK. I loves me some Haze genetics, and I am extremely psyched to finish off arguably one of the finest strains of Haze you can possibly grow. This plant is getting so frosty, so dense, and so heavy, it is starting to have outer buds fall down. The weight of the apex colas and all that's attached to them is what is dragging both these and the Hulkberry buds down a bit. Fortunately they are pretty even spaced out, so the plants are actually starting to show the weight evenly around the plant, if that makes sense.

Please enjoy these pictures of the Ghost Train Haze tossing frost around and color like it's fricking Mardi Gras. I may get her some beads. All these pics are the GTH, starting with the entire plant and then a bunch of bud porn.

Fox Farms has been around for a long time and there is a reason for that. I enjoy seeing the shocked reactions when people see what a great nutrient line this is, after they follow the directions and trust the system the first time. If I were to go back to synthetic someday, this would be the system that I would go back to. There are easier grow systems out there, but you sure can't argue with the results that come out of a FF grow, every time.

What's interesting is WHY people don't trust it as is. I didn't till we talked about it. A lot of people are like that with nutes. Why? I think in my case it was cuz exactly what you said - there's so much misinformation out there and people making money and grabbing followers putting out erroneous info make it even worse. I read over and over again to NOT use the FF line at full strength to start. Or even the whole time. I saw it in websites, in grow journals, I saw it everywhere. I was sucked in by it.

Glad you set me straight. I agree with every word. I even apply the concept to other nute lines. FF isn't the only set of nutes designed as a system, and I would bet they all work better when used as intended.

There always have been and always will be snake oil salesmen and hucksters, and it is hard enough in the real day to day world to steer clear of them, but today we also live in this thing called the virtual world. In this strange electronic world, the currency of trade is not always tangible, and it can be measured in numbers of likes and followers instead of tangible goods.

It takes no real insight or courage to bastardize a known good product such as FF by recommending that one use it in a passive way, and instead of using it like a good high end fertilizing program, recommend to dilute it to the point that the plants are simply surviving, but with everything they need. This modified system is sold to the average consumer as cheaper and easier to implement, and people, most who love being led by others while being reassured all along the way, buy into this way of doing things. The cynical consumer is also quick to believe that the nutrient companies are just out to make an extra buck by advising you to use way more nutes than is necessary and you hear this argument given by the minimalists all the time to justify their position. The whole Auto plant thing is another example of a good marketing or sales program taking advantage of the typical consumer, playing on their desire for easy and cheap.

It has amazed me over the years how profoundly this digital age that came in pretty much when I was born has changed the world. Yes, we now have access to so much instant information these days that never was dreamed of before the internet came along, but the typical consumer has yet to be able to differentiate between what is true and established or just another opinion out there among the billions, all equally presented before us. Showmanship and flash still count just as in the old snake oil salesman days, and the loudest and flashiest get the most attention. In this day and age, likes and followers judge the veracity of an idea, in a medium where everyone has equal access. Instead of peer review and investigation leading the way as it does in the real world, in this virtual world, what counts is who can say it the most times, get the most hits and develop the greatest following, and as I have learned here on this forum, whoever has the most followers, has the loudest voice. If a person trusts only the virtual world for their information, their resulting knowledge level is also only virtual, and it is only a matter of time before something is going to be upset by real world data, like from a side by side grow, one fertilized 1/4 strength and one where the system's directions were followed, and with a result that somehow doesn't conform with what the internet guru proclaimed would happen.

Sometimes You Gotta' Get Creative.....
HULKBERRY IMPROVEMENT
Grow Day 103
Flower Day 43

So part of my morning and early afternoon has been spent trying to figure out how to support and raise the Hulkberry up.
She's heavy as hell and two whole sides of her are falling down. The Hulk has four main apex colas, at 12/3/6/9 o'clock around the plant basically. Each of those is pulled out very far in relation to the stem. And despite using MSA for all of veg and her stems being pretty damn strong and tough, these buds are just too big and dense. The buds that developed from the extended stems of these apex colas are attached to the same main side stem that feeds the apex's, so the entire main cola branch is coming down, and everything attached to it. The result was that two sides of the plant were falling down to the point where I felt action was required.

But how? My thing is everything works cuz it's done from the bottom, and the plants can be rotated. That has to stay in play. I tried support bamboo tucked into the very edges of the pot, and tying the cola branch to it from the top of the stake, but that didn't work. There are simply too many buds supported by one branch. So when I try it the twist tie wants to slip up and pull badly on the buds it's supposed to be supporting cuz of the branch weight pulling it back down. I thought about a lot of different ways to try and do it from above with stakes and rods and ties and hangers, and short of creating something (I could) out of bamboo and/or pvc that would be a lot of work and a pain in the ass, I realized after a while that these branches MUST be PUSHED up from UNDERNEATH.

Ok great. How?
I thought a four inch piece of PVC would fit nicely under the branch, sit on the soil, and have enough width to raise the entire side the right amount. That would have worked great I now know, and it is the likely easy, cheap solution in the future. But you have to own some and I didn't. However, I had these little V channel pvc pieces that are some kind of roofing edge pieces I snaked from a construction site down the street. I figured at some point I would figure out some way to use them for something, as they are super strong and will support a human. Well, today I figured out what to use them for.

So here's the Hulkberry after my solution is implemented, and man, does it work GREAT. Check out how up and high she is now, like the other two plants. Awesome. I doubt she would have known the difference, as it wasn't as if the buds were on the floor or anything, but with the fattening up phase about to start they were just going to get heavier and droopier. Now they have no choice but to stay in place, this plant could weigh 200 pounds and still be supported by these things.

Heh. McGuyver strikes again. Repurposing ROCKS.

Enjoy the Hulk. She's a BEAST. This is another plant that is living up to it's name.

Now she is UP.jpg

Ha! I couldn't agree more, and I'll give you the short version:

People are sheep. People are cheap. People want easy. 98% of people will NOT do the appropriate research on any product they buy, ever.

As a result, those "snake oil salesmen" you mention often win. And regarding the internet and the dangers of the digital age, well, the Internet, while probably the most world changing invention in our lifetime, is a double edged sword in a lot of ways. And as we're seeing play out live right now, some of the major players, like Zuckerberg, couldn't care less about the ways they are negatively affecting the world and only pursue profits. Which brings us to the last simple version:

People are GREEDY.

That's why I like dogs and plants better for the most part.

A Word On Daylight Savings Time.....

Daylight savings time always messes with my head. Every time. I start wondering about my timers and the clocks and if my plants got light an hour early, and is that going to screw things up, etc, etc....I start doing crazy math to try and figure out god knows what.....

I have finally realized it's not the slightest issue. The plants time doesn't change. Only human perception of time does.

Duh.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

So very true … humans have an issue with time - its almost an obsession.

Now, while a PLANT doesnt have an issue with time, my dogs surely do. They're used to getting fed every evening around 4:30-5:00 and start “acting up” and being jerks around an hour before that. So, Until THEY adjust to the time change, I get an extra hour of them being asses.

Wow I'm so glad you said that. My puppy was crying this morning and she never does. She also attacked her breakfast unlike her usual go up to it, sniff it, walk away, come back, THEN eat. She housed it immediately. Now I'm thinking this was exactly why. Interesting. Thanks!

Yeah, the time change doesnt affect them AS MUCH in the spring (if anything, they’re like “Oh? Dinner? Ok”) … but the fall time change takes them about 2-3 weeks before they get back to their normal neurotic selves.

Did you raise your dogs from puppies? Would you mind if I messaged you out of this thread? I'd like to ask you a couple things and I don't wanna keep this convo up here cuz it's totally unrelated.

I did! And sure!!!

I am a strict master... of both my plants and my dogs. If I have to get used to the new time, so do they. I don't adjust my timing of the lights... they automatically adjust to the new time and either lose or gain an hour. Big deal... they will adjust in a matter of days, and its only one slight change, surely not enough to cause them to freak out. The dogs... they can also adjust and be happy or complain a little bit... food is still served at 6pm every night. I believe for them it is more about maintaining a regular routine rather than the actual time on the clock.

Flush Day

Grow Day 105
Flower Day 45

Flush day for Hulkberry and Ghost Train Haze, the two Fox Farms plants. I almost skipped it and am glad I had the foresight to ask Yoda, I mean @Emilya, about it and she set me straight. Don't go off the reservation when you've been on it the entire grow, dummy. This is the wrong time to improv. Got it. Enough salt buildup happens in the last three weeks and the flush is there for a reason.

So here's a shot of where we are with each plant before the hours long flush process.

- Ghost Train Haze
- Hulkberry

Enjoy and have a great week everybody.

Grow Day 106
Flower Day 46

My low temperature treatment seems to be working. Nighttime temps are in the 58-61 degree range. Daytime 68-74, I went with a cooler flower than I normally do. I honestly don't know if cooler temps affect only the leaves or the buds too, but all three of these girls are starting to toss some serious bud colors around. I want to trip and look at my plants so bad but so far I haven't pulled that trigger.:rofl::rofl: But they really are pretty. And I'm pretty happy with the level of trichome production so far, they're fairly frosty. The tent STINKS. FYI, not one of these three strains is a stealth grow relative to their odor. If you grow these, know that all three of these strains are particularly stinky, especially the Ghost Train Haze. That one sort of overpowers the other two at the moment upon first sniff opening the tent. I wish I could post smellevision pictures so you guys could get a whiff of these.

So here are two bud closeup shots from each plant. Enjoy.

Chunkadelic: (from Humboldt Seed Co.) -

TANGERINE | SKUNKY | FUEL
As a homage to one of our favorite bands, Parliament Funkadelic, we gave this strain a fitting name to go with its bag appeal and production. We’ve been using “cunkle’ to describe the gnarly chunky nugs of Caramel Cream, and this has the same cunkle effect: attractive nugs with solid dank protrusions. Easy yet productive, this cultivar is great for either large scale production or your backyard grow.

So that's Humboldt's take on their strain. I messed this plant up some. I burned off many of her leaves by leaving her too close to the light before she switched to the outdoor rig. That definitely compromised budding. My buds looked nothing like the pictures of this weed.

That said, she was extremely productive, at 6.9 ounces. In a 5. Best yielding auto I've grown yet.

Her buds are indeed chunky. Each one smokes like a little nugget of perfume. I don't get any tangerine. More like a faintish lemon. Also has a bit of skunk It's an interesting taste - kind of lemony, skunky perfume. It's light in THC. Maybe 20% at best. Good everyday, not get too stoned but definitely know you're high, relaxing weed. The buzz is more body oriented than I thought it would be. There's a brief head rush, followed by a downward flow from the head to about the neck. A few minutes later there's a minor relaxing effect to the body as a whole. It's definitely a pleasurable smoke. The smell is not overwhelming at all, that's my fault on the grow. It should be much stinkier. But the smell is similar to the taste - it smells like lemony perfume. Only way I can describe it. Definitely an indica type buzz. I have been topping bong hits of it with kief to give it some power but still get mostly the weed taste, and that works real well when I need to get higher than the weed makes me but want the taste of this bud.

This plant did okay on the Canna nutes. I found that she responded better to their veg regimen than their flower regimen. I may use Canna for veg and Fox Farms for flower on a plant in the future and see how that goes. She was gorgeous in veg - one of her pics is my screen shot on my computer. The flower nutes left a bit to be desired, but again, not sure I gave them the legit shot they needed given my screw up.

If you want a productive, not too high in THC, and tasty plant, this might be your girl. If you're a high THC person like me, you'll give much of this weed away. LOL.

Chunkadelic Reporting now complete. Thanks for the interest guys. Here's what her finished buds look like:
